Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Centerville, GA

Fair Harbor RV Park and Twin Oaks RV Park welcome pets at their established campgrounds near Centerville. The pet-friendly accommodations include tent sites, RV spaces with full hookups, and cabin options at Twin Oaks. Both parks maintain clean, well-kept grounds with picnic tables and fire rings where dogs can join their owners during outdoor activities. Interstate RV Park provides convenient overnight stays for travelers with pets, offering level pull-through sites and proper waste disposal areas. Most campgrounds in this region require pets to be leashed at all times when outside RVs or tents, and owners are expected to clean up after their animals. Sites typically have enough space for dogs to rest comfortably beside campers without disturbing neighbors.

Nearby hiking opportunities allow dogs to accompany owners on trails, though leashes are mandatory on public pathways. The shaded sites at Perry Ponderosa RV Park provide relief during Georgia's hot summer months, which is particularly important for pet safety. Several campgrounds feature grassy areas designated for pet exercise and relief. Savage Creek RV Park includes a dedicated dog park with space for pets to run off-leash. Campers should be prepared for wildlife encounters, keeping pets secured to prevent chasing local animals or disrupting other campers. Veterinary services are available in nearby Perry and Macon for emergency situations. When planning extended stays, the spacious monthly sites at Safe Haven RV Park accommodate campers with multiple pets, though the park's proximity to the interstate creates some ambient noise that sensitive dogs might notice.

    Forsyth KOA

    Bad Experience

We should have known when we first arrived not to stay here. Our welcome was very brisk and unfriendly. Our site was literally right next to the freeway with terrible freeway noise and fuel smells. We asked to be moved and our new site was so narrow that the picnic tables didn’t even fit in the site and tottered on the edge of the site’s bank. They offer site garbage pick up daily, but not to monthly stays. So they drive right by your site while picking up garbage to sites right next to you! Playground is satisfactory but the dog park is muddy and rocky. When we signed in and mentioned we were excited about having a dog park the check in person said she wouldn’t take her dog to it! I highly recommend driving right on by! We use KOA’s regularly and this campground management is far below KOA standards! Beware!

    Love's RV Stop-Cordele GA 801

    Cute RV stop

Check in through the Loves app or onsite Kiosk. We tried to call ahead and pay cash onsite. The cashiers worked it out but apparently they aren’t set up to take cash reservations. We checked in late at night, which was a plus for our flexible travel plans. The campground is separated from the truck stop by a fence. Fire pit at your site and a communal one that’s open until midnight. Splash pad, dog park, pickle ball court, and 2 pavilions with grills. It’s actually a really cute site to be attached to a truck stop! It’s walking distance to Loves for necessities. Site 2 is near the office/dog park. Pull through sites and back in. Nice and level on concrete.

    Savage Creek RV Park

    Awesome Park

Nice NEW park in middle GA that has large spots, a dog park, and some small trails to walk. People were very friendly and the owners were fantastic! Easy parking and plenty of room for additional vehicles in your spot if needed.

    Good Overnight Stop

This was a good overnight site.  Typical KOA pull through where you are close to your neighbor.  They have a small dog park which is a bonus.  Staff was friendly and helpful.

    I love it here

Lots of room. Spacious campsites. The hosts are friendly. Propane tanks picked up and filled for you. There’s a large fenced dog park. Laundry available. Clean bath houses. There are small comping cabins available. I have full hookups. The area is remote and quiet, but the Walmart and dollar store are right up the road if you forget something.

    Twin Oaks RV Park

    Would have stayed longer!

Very nice rv park! Has many amenities that you would find at the "chain" campgrounds at a fraction of the cost. Great staff and easy booking process. Trash pick up, dog park, pool, games! Even had someone to follow to our site, which I have found doesn't happen every day. If we find ourselves in the area in the future, we would be happy to stay again.

    Scenic Mountain RV Park

In the middle of nowhere near downtown

Very nice, well kept little campground. The sites are good sized but not a lot of privacy. Sorta like a nice parking lot with grass and trees. We stayed in January so the weather was on the chill side. I did not notice a lot of trees though for shade when the temperature does rise. When you enter there are two nice little ponds that are said to house some fish. At the top of the right side hill there is a pavilion, laundry area and private shower rooms. Very clean, very well maintained. Not a lot of light but if you have your fire pit going and your flashlight you’ll be good. There are some nice short trails and a small dog park with agility equipment. Milledgeville is close by and your campground hosts have compiled at list of nearby places to visit AND a list for emergencies, to include a Veterinarian which I thought was pretty awesome. Nice place.

Loves is about to take over!!!!

First time at loves and loving it. Wi-Fi was good but we were the only ones there. Been open 3 weeks as of this review. 42 spots and very easy check in process. Do it from your phone or kiosk. Perfect for getting in and setting up no waiting on host or attendants. You must check in on phone or kiosk as the electric post are Wi-Fi connected and will not work without a reservation or check-in for that date. Once checked in post with activate plugs for power. Splash and play area and dog park. New pickle ball court with rental equipment at kiosk. Spots are close and most of the pads are only 50-55ft long pull thru and back in available. Also has a dog wash booth just outside the campground.

Guide to Centerville

Campgrounds near Centerville, Georgia feature varying levels of tree cover and diverse amenities across both public and private facilities. The area experiences hot, humid summers with temperatures often exceeding 90°F and mild winters where freezing temperatures are rare. Summer thunderstorms can develop rapidly in this region, creating muddy conditions at sites with limited drainage.

What to do

Visit historic downtown Perry: Located just minutes from Twin Oaks RV Park, this charming town offers antique shops and local restaurants. "A great little place to stay in middle Georgia. Easy on and off the highway. Over-all a great place to stay," notes Lawrence P.

Explore Lake Tobesofkee recreation areas: The lake offers swimming, boating, and fishing opportunities at Claystone Park Campground. "The swimming beach is okay. It is a sand beach which is clean and easy to access the water," reports Scott R. The park also features a disc golf course that connects to the beach area.

Attend events at the fairgrounds: Many campgrounds see increased bookings during fair season. "Near the Perry Ga Fairgrounds, Right off I 75," mentions Ray B. about the proximity of area campgrounds to local events.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention well-maintained bathrooms at multiple parks. "The bathrooms are nice and there are some on-site fun to be had with a basketball hoop and playground," writes Danna D. about Fair Harbor RV Park.

Spacious, level sites: Many parks feature pull-through sites that require minimal setup. "The site we had was beautiful with lots of room and a great unobstructed lake view. Bathrooms very clean and close," shares Greg S. about his stay at Claystone Park.

Convenient access to I-75: Most campgrounds are situated within minutes of highway exits. "This was a great spot for a quick stop while traveling through. Literally right off the interstate. The park was super clean and quiet," notes Amanda about Twin Oaks RV Park.

What you should know

Proximity to fairgrounds impacts availability: Reservations are recommended during event seasons. "Fairgrounds are close so it probably fills up when events come through," advises Kelsey G.

Weather considerations: Summer heat requires planning for shade and hydration. "The shaded sites provide relief during hot months," according to regular campers at Perry Ponderosa.

Mountain biking opportunities: Arrowhead Park offers trails for various skill levels. "Great hiking/mountain biking trail, nice views. Your fees include access to the sister campground Claystone on the other side of the lake," explains EMRY H.

Limited tent options: Some parks have challenging tent sites. "The 'tent sites' are paved and at very extreme angles, with very sparse to no tree cover what so ever," warns Everette G. about Arrowhead Park.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Several campgrounds feature play areas for children. "My 6 year old had a great time with the other kids and pond and playground. Great facilities and staff," shares Luke A. about his experience at Fair Harbor RV Park.

Swimming areas: Lake access provides cooling options during hot months. "Beach clean and beautiful. We enjoyed paddleboarding on the lake," notes Greg S. about Claystone Park.

Pet exercise areas: For families with dogs, dedicated pet spaces allow energy release. "There is a fenced in dog area which was really nice for those of us traveling with pets," Amanda reports about Twin Oaks RV Park.

Local attractions: Nearby facilities offer family entertainment options. "Stayed here mostly to visit Rigby's and the aviation museum. My girlfriend loved the horses - different ones are coming and going frequently," mentions Luke A.

Tips from RVers

Extended stay options: Monthly rates available for longer-term campers at Safe Haven RV Park. "The monthly rates also make it economical for longer stays. Not really anywhere for tent camping," advises Keith R.

Utility connections: Full hookups standard at most dog friendly campgrounds near Centerville. "Absolutely love Fair harbor! The staff is great... In a standard RV site all amenities are included, water hookup, sewer, electric with 110, 30 and 50 amp hookups, cable and wifi!" shares Desiree R.

Easy access routes: Most parks accommodate large rigs with minimal maneuvering. "This has to be the easiest check in and set up ever! The site was both long enough for our rig AND level..a rarity in our experience," reports C.G.T.

Wifi reliability varies: Internet access differs by park and location within parks. "WiFi here is so-so and you often get booted off. On their website they say WiFi is free with stay. But once we got there we learned we were capped at 1 GB per day," notes Kelsey G.
