Cabin accommodations near Dublin include rustic lodging options at Jellystone Park Cochran and Little Ocmulgee State Park & Lodge. The small camping cabins at Jellystone provide electric hookups in a quiet, remote setting. Little Ocmulgee offers larger cabin accommodations with access to a lake, splash pad, pool, and hiking trails. Both locations maintain clean facilities with showers and restrooms. Heating and cooling systems are standard in most cabins, though amenities vary by location. "We stayed two different nights in one of their camping cabins and it was very comfortable and worked out great. Easy access clean showers and rest room," noted one visitor about their Jellystone Park experience.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Scenic Mountain RV Park provides cabin rentals with level sites that include fire pits. Pet policies vary by campground, with Jellystone Park featuring a large fenced dog park for cabin guests with pets. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially during summer months when facilities like Little Ocmulgee's splash pad and pool are open. A camper remarked, "We found this place by chance and stayed a couple nights in one of their cabins and absolutely fell in love with it."

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Basic cooking facilities are available at some locations, though arrangements differ between properties. Jellystone Park offers convenient access to a Walmart and dollar store for forgotten items, while other locations may have limited on-site provisions. Cabins at Towns Bluff Park provide accommodation near the Altamaha River with boat access. George L. Smith State Park Campground also offers cabin rentals with year-round availability and electric hookups in a natural setting with water access.

George L. Smith State Park Campground

    Beauty and history

General: Small (25-site) campground, all with electric/water plus a fire ring, lantern hook, and picnic table. There are also 8 cottages and four primitive campsites. Most have a water view. An interesting thing about Georgia state parks is that when you arrive and check in, you become eligible for a senior or military/veteran “rebate” which is not available when reserving.

Site Quality: All sites are gravel and level. Most sites had a step-down area with a picnic table, fire ring/grill, and lantern hook with plenty of room for a tent.

Bathhouse: Was very clean. Lights are on a timer so make sure you don’t end up in the dark too soon! Did not use the showers but they looked to be very clean as well.

Activities: Fishing, boating (kayaks are available for rent), and some short hiking/walking paths. There is an 1880s grist mill/covered bridge with self-guided tours but it was scheduled to close for renovations on October 31 (not sure for how long) so we were lucky we arrived on the 30th and were able to see it. The hosts were very available and friendly. The campground was about half full and very quiet.

Note that there is a sketchy RV “park” across the street from the campground. When we asked, the host said they keep a close watch on it and make sure no one from there accesses the campground; we did not experience any problems.

We were told the colors were early this year and they were like nothing we’d seen before so as a photographer, I loved shooting something entirely different! Also, we were pleasantly surprised there were no bugs so close to a swamp!

    Jellystone Park™ Cochran

    Quick one night stay.

I stayed two different nights on a motorcycle trip to Western North Carolina, November 6 2019, one night up and one night back. Campground was pretty close to halfway between on my trip. I stayed in one of their camping cabins and it was very comfortable and worked out great. Easy access clean showers and rest room. Highly recommended..

    Scenic Mountain RV Park

In the middle of nowhere near downtown

Very nice, well kept little campground. The sites are good sized but not a lot of privacy. Sorta like a nice parking lot with grass and trees. We stayed in January so the weather was on the chill side. I did not notice a lot of trees though for shade when the temperature does rise. When you enter there are two nice little ponds that are said to house some fish. At the top of the right side hill there is a pavilion, laundry area and private shower rooms. Very clean, very well maintained. Not a lot of light but if you have your fire pit going and your flashlight you’ll be good. There are some nice short trails and a small dog park with agility equipment. Milledgeville is close by and your campground hosts have compiled at list of nearby places to visit AND a list for emergencies, to include a Veterinarian which I thought was pretty awesome. Nice place.

Little Ocmulgee State Park & Lodge

Quiet, Clean and plenty of activities.

Clean and Shady camping space with newer, clean showers and restrooms.

The park has many amenities just a short walk away. Nearby golf course seems to be appreciated by several campers. Take a walk down to the dam and read about the construction of the park and the lake, by the CCC, in the 1930's

As of September 2023 the construction on the Cottages continues, so there is some noise during the day. But considering we were the closest to it, it was not bad.

    I love it here

Lots of room. Spacious campsites. The hosts are friendly. Propane tanks picked up and filled for you. There’s a large fenced dog park. Laundry available. Clean bath houses. There are small comping cabins available. I have full hookups. The area is remote and quiet, but the Walmart and dollar store are right up the road if you forget something.

George L. Smith State Park Campground

    Awesome park

Read through all the reviews and it seems to have come a long ways. There are more hiking trails, really nice docks and boats for rent and slightly better Verizon service. My Tesla wireless worked barely and without the cell phone extender I wouldn't have been able to work here. All in though they do a very nice job of providing private spaces and the cabins look amazing. It was in the teens outside so not floating on the lake for me but I would love to do that. The lake looks incredible.

George L. Smith State Park Campground

    Quiet and spacious

Spent the afternoon here to hike and relax. The camp/RV sites are nice and spaced out. The bathrooms were sparkling! There’s a dump station as well as laundry and showers. I had 1-2 bars with Verizon LTE so I received texts but couldn’t really get online if needed.

I hiked a trail loop to the primitive camp sites since that’s my preferred way to camp so I could see if this was somewhere I’d like to come camp in the future. The trail was easy to follow and the campsites are so spaced out you really feel like You have the woods to yourself! Each spot had a fire ring and nice pad to set up your tent. There’s a boat dock so make sure you bring your canoes and kayaks to explore.

    Scenic Mountain RV Park

    Wonderful private RV park

Traveling across Georgia from NC to visit family in MO, we thought we would stay overnight at a state park. Well GA in all is wisdom has the asinine rule that you must stay two nights even if the park is virtually empty so we were left scrambling to find a nice place to camp. Scenic Mountain is a little gem. A little off the beaten track but easy to find, great roads, super friendly staff, facilities for dogs, and even some short walking trails in the woods. Level sites, fire pits and a nice club house.

    Crossroads Travel Park

Ranger Review: Ice Mule Cooler at Crossroads Travel Park

Campground Review: Right off I75, about 45 minutes south of Macon, is a small campground with lots of energy. We stayed here short term while in between moving in our 5th wheel and it was a great time. They offer lots of discounts, and extended stay rates. I think we paid $480 for a full month, which included the lot rent, water, sewer, and power.

The spaces are a little small, and a little tough to fit 2 vehicles in, but everyone was friendly and we made it work. They have both pull thru and back in sites, easy access to all of them. Easy in and out, it looks as if they have a few full time campers there as well. Both 30 and 50 amp were available, and they were all paved, so leveling out was super easy.

They have a pull up station for late nite check in after the office closes and works on an honor system to put your payment in the drop box.

One of the perks I liked is the pool, its available for campers and their guests, kept very clean, and was never crowded when we visited.

They do have a shower house and facilities available if needed as well, we however did not use these. [I was told they needed some updating, but again did not personally use them]

Product review: IceMule Pro in XLarge [33L] As a Ranger for TheDyrt I get to review some really cool products that I get free or can purchase at a discounted price. This time we got an amazing deal on a backpack cooler! OMG amazing! We absolutely love this cooler. It has now become our go-to anytime were going outdoors.

We decided on the IceMule Pro in XL as we needed to keep 3 days of food cooled while our fridge was being repaired. These coolers come in a variety of sizes, this specific model comes in 23, 33, and 40 Liters. There is a few different styles of coolers available too: Classic, Pro, Boss, Jaunt, Urbano, and Traveler. The classic is simple and had 1 clip on Carry strap, the traveler is more of a duffle bag style, but we wanted a backpack style and went with the Pro, all the other options are backpack straps.

We selected the grey color, something neutral that wouldn't draw a lot of heat to the bag. They offer a few variations of color for each style of bag.

This cooler is lightweight, and comfy! Once we added in all our items and clip the straps into place you could wear it for hours.

I really like the rolling top closure, it's super easy to snap the clasp to keep it shut, and easy to open when you need in. The cooler has an air vent on the side as well to add in or remove unwanted air from the bag. This helps regulate the temperature inside the bag. When I first got the bag I wanted to try it out and ee didnt have ice at first but put stuff in it anyway. A few hours later after we got ice, the drinks were still cold! This to me was amazing! Once we added ice, it stayed sold for over 2 days. Even with us being in and out getting drinks and food.

We have already decided to get a 2nd smaller one to use for tailgating this fall!

Guide to Dublin

There is also a great walking trail with cypress trees and swampy landscape," reports Anna R., highlighting the water recreation options.

What campers like

Privacy between sites: While cabin locations vary in seclusion, George L. Smith State Park earns praise for site separation. "Campgrounds were spacious so you don't feel crowded, I just wish there were a bit more shrubbery between the sites to give a little more privacy. Views of the swamp were nice," explains Ethan H.

Clean facilities: Little Ocmulgee State Park & Lodge maintains well-kept shower and bathroom buildings. "Clean and Shady camping space with newer, clean showers and restrooms," reports J V., who stayed in September 2023.

Historical elements: Several cabin areas feature historical components worth exploring. "If you like history this is a must see!" recommends Amber C. about Little Ocmulgee. At Towns Bluff, the Heritage Center provides local historical context about the river and surrounding area.

What you should know

Reservation timing: Summer cabin availability becomes limited 2-3 months in advance. "The hosts are great and very attentive to our needs. It was cold at night and they made sure we had enough firewood," notes Angela B. about her December visit to Jeff Davis County Towns Bluff Park.

Primitive options: For more rustic cabin experiences, several parks offer basic accommodations. "We love this campground, quiet and secluded on the bank of the altamaha river, perfect for a quick weekend getaway," shares Andrew H. about Towns Bluff.

Cell service limitations: Connectivity varies widely across cabin locations. "Verizon has one bar of LTE signal. T-Mobile has none (bummer). No camp-wide WiFi," reports L O. about George L. Smith State Park, an important consideration for remote workers or those needing reliable communication.

Tips for camping with families

Splash pad access: Scenic Mountain RV Park provides family-friendly amenities beyond basic cabin facilities. "Site was level and had everything we needed. Yes neighbors were close but everyone was enjoying their families. Hiked the trails around the ponds and caught a few bass," notes Grant J.

Playground availability: Multiple cabin locations feature dedicated children's areas. "Great lil hidden gem in the middle of Georgia! very nice pool and playground and tons of fishing," reports Laura F. about Scenic Mountain's family amenities.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling: Crossroads Travel Park provides level paved sites for easy setup. "We had pull thru site with full hookups. Everything worked and site was level. We made reservations and arrived after staff was gone. There was a detailed map and directions to get to our site," explains Timothy C.

Power options: Most cabin areas offering RV access provide 30/50 amp service. "All sites appear to be close to level. Hazelhurst & Baxley are reasonably close. Gas/Diesel within 3 miles," reports don H. about Towns Bluff Park's practical amenities.

Discounts available: Several campgrounds offer membership-based price reductions. "It takes Pass Port America for Sunday thru Wednesday. If you're looking for a resort campground, go somewhere else, this out in the middle of the woods, isolated, quiet and very nice," advises don H. about Towns Bluff.
