Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Fayetteville, GA

Stone Mountain Park Campground welcomes pets on leashes at all campsites including tent, RV, cabin, and yurt accommodations. Located about 30 miles northeast of Fayetteville, this year-round park provides multiple pet-friendly options with picnic tables and fire rings at most sites. Chattahoochee Bend State Park Campground also accepts pets throughout its camping areas, featuring boat-in, drive-in, and hike-in access. The park is relatively clean and staff are typically accommodating to campers with dogs. Park rules generally require pets to remain on leashes no longer than 6 feet, with owners responsible for waste cleanup and proper control of their animals.

Dogs are permitted on most trails at Panola Mountain State Park Campground, though the primitive campsites require a 3/4-mile walk from the parking area. The spacious grounds accommodate pets well, with several families and their dogs utilizing the sites regularly. Sweetwater Creek State Park offers pet-friendly camping with beautiful water views and shaded trails perfect for dog walking. The walk-in sites are located in wooded areas not far from the lake, providing good spacing between campers. Some parks charge additional pet fees ranging from $3-10 per night depending on accommodation type. Visitors should note that South Oaks RV Park and Atlanta Motor Speedway campgrounds have received mixed reviews regarding their overall conditions, though both technically allow pets.

    Pine Mountain Camp Ground

Well maintained roads. Large sites with choice of full sun or shade site.

Staff is great and his campground allows campfires. Pet friendly with two dog parks. Great pool and has cabins and yurts to reserve. Less than three miles from Callaway Gardens and FDR Park. Town of Pine Mountain...two street lights...very quaint sidewalk shops! This place is a hidden treasure.

    Forsyth KOA

    Bad Experience

We should have known when we first arrived not to stay here. Our welcome was very brisk and unfriendly. Our site was literally right next to the freeway with terrible freeway noise and fuel smells. We asked to be moved and our new site was so narrow that the picnic tables didn’t even fit in the site and tottered on the edge of the site’s bank. They offer site garbage pick up daily, but not to monthly stays. So they drive right by your site while picking up garbage to sites right next to you! Playground is satisfactory but the dog park is muddy and rocky. When we signed in and mentioned we were excited about having a dog park the check in person said she wouldn’t take her dog to it! I highly recommend driving right on by! We use KOA’s regularly and this campground management is far below KOA standards! Beware!

    Good Overnight Stop

This was a good overnight site.  Typical KOA pull through where you are close to your neighbor.  They have a small dog park which is a bonus.  Staff was friendly and helpful.

    Stone Mountain Park Campground

So close to me and I love it.

Lived in Georgia my whole life and yet my first time to Stone Mountain was literally three years ago. Now we have an annual pass and go all the time. This place is world renowned for its fireworks and laser show but you have to go off the pavement to truly fall in love with Stone Mountain! This place is great for everyone. I mean everyone, from free runners to hikers and all you folk that like to “camp” in your RVs. Visit this place anytime of year and you will not be disappointed. Apparently it’s rated #1 as the best place to camp in Georgia. I’m more into the nature only kind of camping but that’s not everyone’s cup a tea. Stone Mountain has something for everyone.

    Stone Mountain Park Campground

    Family orientated

Several options available. RV hook ups, camp grounds, and yurt rentals. I did not rent a yurt but have heard good things from friends who have. Very clean camp grounds, if you don't mind a familes close by. Can set up next to the lake. Pet friendly and several children and families around. Ton of activities around stone mountain park.

    Indian Springs

    Nice campground - Site 19

1st time for us to Indian Springs. Very clean and well maintained. Site 19 was on a less populated loop and a long stretch of woods on the "driver" side thus no neighbors.  Site was very easy to back into.

We stayed in March, so when the leaves are off the trees, you can see the lake. Kinda doubtful you would during the summer. Gray water dump is very close. Bathhouse was about a 2 minute walk, but didn't use it.

I'd stay on this section again, but maybe across the street. or preferably down by the water.  There's a short drop off behind the fence by the fire ring, that the dog keeps trying to go down and getting stuck - imagine little ones may love that area.

The town of Flovilla is right outside the gates, with  some shops and a nice restaurant. Dollar General is 5 mins away. Dauset Trails Nature Preserve is about 15 minutes away, but note pets aren't allowed. High Falls State park is about 15 minutes away with good hiking trails. Plus boat, and paddle board rentals.

    Stone Mountain Park Campground

Awesome grounds with basic to full-hookups. Pet friendly.

Awesome grounds in a family and pet friendly atmosphere. Neighbors were kind and helpful. Very quiet and peaceful time. Walking the grounds was nice and hilly. There’s also trails in between areas and around the campground. If you like the water, bring your trunks, kayaks, and poles.
