Our 74-acre ANIMAS RIVER FRONT RV Park is the only Costa Rican-inspired resort in the United States!!! It’s the perfect place to relax, have fun, and drift into Tico Time! Located just 20 minutes south of Durango, CO, you won’t find anything like it in the Four Corners.

These campsites are tucked up to the edge of a pinyon juniper forest overlooking the La Plata Mountains, and farmlands stretching to Durango. Terrific sunsets, wildlife, and privacy await. The original barn is still standing in the camp area. The Ignacio grocery store is a short 8-minute drive and Durango is 25 minutes away. Fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and shopping are all available in under 30 minutes.



Tent pads are leveled and include tie-down bolts. A porta-potti and hand wash station are nearby, and a recycling bin is available (no trash service). Make dinner easily on the 3-burner gas grill with a side stovetop burner and grilling utensils. 10 gallons of water are in the parking area for drinking/dishes and a hose is available at the house on request. Camper vans and pop ups are welcome! No RVs, please, due to a culvert crossing. The drive up to the camp sites is a bumpy field, but a compact SUV or higher is sufficient.



This is a working farm with a hay field below the campsites, a large fenced market garden, an orchard, and chickens (leashes dogs only, please!!). The irrigation ditch runs through the camp area, providing ambient sounds and fun for pups! Again, leashed dogs only to protect my chickens and the resident raccoons, skunks, foxes, coyotes, and deer.

## Overview

Pine Point Campground is situated next to Vallecito Reservoir in southwestern Colorado. Visitors enjoy the area for its beautiful scenery and wide range of recreational activities, including boating, fishing and hiking. 

## Recreation

Vallecito Reservoir is a very popular fishing lake, with anglers casting for German brown trout, cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, kokanee salmon and northern pike. Boating, water skiing and canoeing are popular activities. A sheltered area for boats and an open play area are just south of the campground.  
  
A variety of hiking and horseback riding trails are found in the area. The North Canyon Trail climbs through ponderosa pine and aspen forests. A short side trail leads to a scenic overlook of the lake. East Creek Trail provides access to a lightly used, scenic drainage where fly-fisherman can be seen casting for brook trout.

## Facilities

The campground offers single-family sites, each equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided. 

## Natural Features

The Vallecito lake, which is Spanish for "little valley," sits at an elevation of 7,900 feet. A scenic forest of ponderosa pine covers the campground, which offers many shaded, lakefront sites with easy access to the shore. High peaks of the San Juan Mountains are visible to the northwest of the campground.

## Charges & Cancellations

Cancellations

Individual Campsites: Cancellations up to 2 days before a reservation start date incur a $10.00 cancellation fee. 

A visitor who cancels a reservation the day before or on the day of arrival will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first night's use fee including tax and applicable add-on for a campsite.

Cancellations for a one-night reservation will forfeit the entire amount paid and will not be subject to an additional service fee.

No-Shows

A no-show visitor is one who does not arrive at a campground and does not cancel the reservation by check-out time on the day after the scheduled arrival date. Staff will hold a campsite until check-out time on the day following the arrival date.

No-shows are assessed $20.00 service fee and forfeit the first night's rate, taxes and applicable add-on for a campsite. 

Refunds

Visitors may submit a refund request through their Recreation.gov profile within 7 days of the end date of their reservation. Refunds will not be issued after the 7 days has ended.

Refunds for debit or credit card payments will be issued as a credit to the original bank or credit card used to pay.

For check or cash purchases, Recreation.gov will mail a Treasury check for refunds of cash, check, or money order payments to the address associated with the reservation. Treasury check refunds may take up to 6-8 weeks to arrive. 

In the event of an emergency closure, the Recreation.gov team or facility manager will refund all fees and will attempt to notify you using the contact information within the Recreation.gov visitor profile.

Pine Point Campground

Campgrounds still open between September and May have no services (water, electric, trash pick up or rest rooms). Please keep them clean and pack it out. Thanks! Miller Creek Campground is about 18 miles north of Durango and 2 miles north of the Lemon Reservoir dam along Forest Rd. 596 (County Rd. 243). The campground has a concrete boat ramp at its north end. Its 12 campsites offer a choice of sun or shade; 5 of the sites share a large parking area. RVs can be leveled without much difficulty. A shady roadside picnic area has 4 tables available for day use. The Upper Lemon Day-Use Area, a fishing-access site, is 1.5 miles north of Miller Creek.

The Lower Piedra Campground is just north of U.S. Highway 160 on the west side of the Piedra River, about 18 miles east of Bayfield and 25 miles west of Pagosa Springs. It is about a half mile up Forest Rd. 621 on the west side of the river (not to be confused with the First Fork Road [Forest Rd. 622] on the east side of the river). The campground offers 17 large, level sites with plenty of shade. Fishing opportunities are available. NOTICE: Dispersed camping is not allowed within 100 yards of either side of Forest Road 621 leading to the Lower Piedra Campground (from the cattle guard to the camp-ground boundary).
