    Durango RV Resort

Oasis RV Resort - Check Satellite View

Very nice RV / Cabin / Tent resort in Durango, CO. Full service, laundry facilities, pickleball court, grills in the public area, pool during summer months. We chose a mountain view site, which does have lovely views, but the reason for the review title is it is directly above the freeway and we needed earplugs for the traffic noise. Amending to note it is a very well-maintained RV=tent/cabin park, clean restrooms, clearly marked laundry, friendly staff.

    Vallecito Resort

    Beautiful location, poor cell service

Vallecito Resort in beautiful Bayfield CO. We stayed here 3 days. This park is quite beautiful and well maintained. Staff is super friendly and helpful. There are a lot of seasonal residents here but all seem very friendly. We even joined them for a Christmas in July evening of decorating a tree, desserts and listen to Christmas music. Had a nice size spot #56. Very quite at night. Great location for day trips as we visited three near buy lakes, and Mesa Verda National park (used your America The Beautiful pass for free entrance). I would love to stay here longer and visit more locations but was only able to get three days. Cell service sucks with Verizon up here and WiFi available near office area only.

    Durango RV Resort

Nice site layout; Enjoyable stay! - THIS IS NOT KOA! NOW CALLED OASIS RV

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Friendly staff; shuffled our stay around so we could extend and not relocate during the week.

WIFI/ CELL SERVICE: Camp wifi and speed seemed to work really well! I could use email and stream videos with no delay; however we used a hot spot for work calls to be more clear, but their wifi probably could have been fine to do so. 2 of 4 bars AT&T but calls came in fine throughout the entire park.

SITE: Pretty campground layout. Love the"S" curved pull thru sites. We had an"S" shaped site with nice privacy and ease of arriving and leaving because of design. The sites all seemed to be nicely spaced from one another and private even though you are nearby. There were some views and there were a few pretty fall trees and a vacant pasture to look at while sitting at the picnic table. A small creek flows along the edge of site 23. Full hookup; level site; heated water so didn't have to worry about pipes freezing during stay; fire pit; grill; full sun site; rock roads but well maintained and not too dusty; light road noise. I'm sure the sites closer to the highway are louder near the campground entrance; no bugs in October that we experienced.

OTHER: Nearby Walmart and shopping center. About 20 min drive from Historic Downtown; about 5 minutes from Anytime Fitness gym. Laundry room was small and they didn't clean our clothes very well, but it was kept clean.

    Turkey Creek Road

    Great views

Nice area, seems like 3+ camping areas, I stayed here for about 4 days. Some fire pits and good views on the drive up. Road was not busy. Verizon signal was spotty. Most of the time I did not have any signal.

    Turkey Creek Road

    Great Site Great View

Easy drive up 160 from Pagosa. Pitched the tent in the afternoon and headed to town for a soak.

Room for a couple cars and several tents. Not PERFECTLY flat for the tent-folk.

View is killer - we hit it at about peak color.

    Durango RV Resort

    Beautiful and helpful

The campground is set just a couple miles before Durango. They have a swimming pool, laundry facilities, a small dog park, and a very basic playground. They also have a little Caboose from which they serve simple breakfast items, and a little store with a couple of Essentials. Overall the staff was friendly and helpful and our experience was very positive. It was 55 bucks for a pull through site with hookups. We were not allowed to pitch a tent in the camper campsite.

    Durango RV Resort

    Great KOA

The bathrooms are very nice and have two shower houses located on the campground. The breakfast is awesome and it's fun to relax in the pool they have on site. The cabins are very nice as well as the tent sites. All of the staff are great and very helpful when asking about what to do in Durango. We did the drive to Silverton that is absolutely beautiful and checked out Mesa Verde.

    Sky Ute Casino Resort

    Nice RV Park

We grow tired on boondocking and enjoy a nice RV Park sometimes. This RV Park is nicely designed to give you privacy from your neighbors with bushes and trees planted between sites. No grass at the sites, but lots of grass all around. The laundry is located beside the pool - you can swim while waiting for our laundry. However, there is no way to drive to the laundry door; it’s quite a walk carrying your clothes. There are picnic tables and small grills at each site. There’s a small dog park; and, of course the casino nearby for entertainment and dinner out. All sites are asphalt with concrete pads for the tables. The sites are level

    Fun place to stay

    Pros

The campground was relatively small so nothing was too far away. Laundry facilities were nice. Lots of showers that were private stalls. Lots of activities to do. The staff was very friendly and professional. Very clean- they even scrub the heck out of the bbq grills even when they have to stand in the heat of the day doing it. Delicious pizza.

    Cons

It was close to a highway- BUT it was pretty well set back so it didn't feel unsafe by any means, but there was a lot of traffic noise. Sites are packed pretty tightly and many of the tent sites are not private in the least. We got lucky and got one set back with the cabins. The pool is pretty small, but it was clean and the kids had a great time.

Guide to Arboles

Navajo Lake offers a distinctive glamping retreat experience located about 11 miles from Arboles, Colorado. Situated at approximately 6,000 feet elevation, the area features dry, warm summers and cool winters with occasional snow. Camping options range from basic tent sites to more luxurious glamping accommodations spread across the high desert terrain that surrounds Navajo Lake and the San Juan River.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: San Juan National Forest offers excellent trout fishing at Williams Creek Campground, located near Pagosa Springs. A visitor noted, "We had a great visit and stay at this campground. Only 1.5 miles from the lake which was great." The reservoir and surrounding streams provide multiple fishing spots for anglers.

Water recreation: Navajo Lake State Park's Sims Mesa Campground provides direct lake access for boating and swimming. One camper shared, "If you don't have a boat or fancy water toys.. Sims Mesa is where you should go. Much less crowded than the main marina. We camped at the Lakeshore Camping area. Several sites available right on the lake, just steps away from the water."

Hiking trails: While many visitors come for water activities, the surrounding forest offers hiking trails with varying difficulty. "Not many marked trails but you can still explore. Temps were good with the breeze to help," mentioned one visitor about the areas around Navajo Lake, highlighting the less structured nature experiences available.

What campers like

Proximity to Pagosa Springs: When looking for glamping close to Arboles, Colorado, many visitors appreciate the easy access to nearby towns. Pagosa Riverside Campground provides water recreation with convenient town access. One camper noted, "We only stayed one night but would definitely come back. We had a nice large tent site right by the river. No trees on this site but the view and the river made up for that."

Seclusion from crowds: Many campers seek quieter alternatives to busier areas. A visitor to Sims Mesa mentioned, "Navajo Lake was a last minute reservation to escape the southern heat. SUCCESS, the sites had shelter, access to water and good Marina." The less crowded eastern side of Navajo Lake provides a more peaceful experience.

Water views: Campsites with lake or river views are highly valued. At Pine Point Campground, "It's right on the lake but tucked away in some towering ponderosas, with lots and lots of space between each site. It's quiet and beautiful, and most of the spots offer ample shade and lots of places to hang a hammock."

What you should know

Seasonal considerations: The area experiences significant seasonal changes affecting water levels and activities. A Sims Mesa visitor warned, "This was the first stop of 3 - 2 night stays on this search to find great camping with easy access to water... I might like to visit Sims Mesa Marina at Navajo Lake again, if it ever fills again and perhaps in the spring or fall but NOT in summer."

Road conditions: Some campgrounds require traveling on unpaved roads. About Durango RV Resort, a visitor mentioned, "My only complaint I guess would be the road in from the main highway was pretty rough and had lots of potholes. That road is about 17 miles long."

Reservation requirements: Many campsites, especially premium water-view sites, require advance booking. For Williams Creek Campground, a camper advised, "Reserve ahead of time. We got lucky that this site was available. Site #12 is the best if you can reserve it."
