Anaheim RV Park - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

Disney Camping - Clean, Pool, Very Nice Restrooms/Showers

Anaheim RV Resort is close to Disney and is on the Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) bus route. They have full hook up sites and room for large rigs - back-in and pull through. They are very pet friendly and even have a dog walking/feeding service (for an extra fee). There is a small pool and hot tub. The restrooms/showers and newly remodeled and very nice! Sites are all level and fairly large. We've stayed here 4 times and will be back again!

    Bonelli Bluffs

    Hidden Gem

I loved this place, this hidden gem is located in the in the middle of the city, with the feel of the outdoor. Lots of trees, biking and hiking trails, fishing area, beautiful views, very peaceful, family friendly, pet friendly, the C9 RV spot was very spacious, I also liked the A & B area. Not every site has a fire pit. Definitely coming back again.

    Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground

    Bolsa Chica State Beach

The 4 stars is primarily for location. This is essentially a parking lot with power and water. We had a beach front space (B035) with a decent sized palm tree. The only one I really saw. The spaces aren’t huge so if you have a big rig or large trailer it will be tight. Most trailers parked their tow vehicle perpendicular to the space and some barely fit. There is no privacy, the small concrete area is shared with your neighbors as is the entrance to the beach side. People watching at the boardwalk is amazing. There is live music at the beach bars nearby which was cool. Definitely bring bike. There isn’t a lot within walking distance but downtown Huntington Beach and the pier is just a couple miles away.

    Waterfront RV Park

    Great place by the beach

Your not on the beach but literally on the other side of pacific coast highway you are there. They have smaller options for travel trailers with power hook ups only and pull through and back in sites available with full hook ups. They have a great pool, maintained laundry rooms bathrooms and showers separated by men and woman for that privacy you need. Overall an incredible rv park and very impressed by it being well kept and clean. Not to mention close to the beach

Mountain Lakes Resort - Membership Campground

    Great family friendly place

My wife and I have been coming up here for years. We used to use her parents fifth wheel or use a cabin but recently purchased our own travel trailer. Now we come up here with our kids and I can’t say enough about how family friendly it is.

Thornhill Broome Beach — Point Mugu State Park

    Beach camping on PCH!

Spent 3 nights here and absolutely loved it. Campground has trash, porta-potties, and appeared to have potable spigots but didn't confirm. Verizon service was hit or miss, but with a booster it was usable. Nice fire rings and picnic tables. Only downside was highway noise, but the surf drowned out all but big-rigs. Saw dolphins and seals back to back days! We're so glad we went, and if we pass by again we will be staying for sure!

    Bonita Ranch Campground

    Just ok overall

Needed somewhere fairly close to home to take my new to us motorhome. Sites were decent size but fairly close together so don’t expect a lot of privacy. Sites interspersed among long term residents. Hookups water and electric at each site. Some shade, trails to riverbed currently mostly dry and Bonita falls about 25 minute walk over river rock. Fire rings available to rent for $5. The biggest issue I had was our electric went out to our loop at about 7:30pm…luckily we are self contained…it still had not been restored when we left the next day at noonish. The lights to the office area and restrooms was still on (thankfully) but not the camp sites.

    Orangeland RV Park

    Location!

Stay here every year for dance competitions in Anaheim and Garden Grove. Very reasonable prices for the area. Anaheim transit makes on-demand stops her to Disneyland as well as Garden Walk. Very helpful, friendly staff. Many residents mixed with overnight era or vacationers.

    Pros:

    • The price for the area is worth it!
    • Amazing staff.
    • Free citrus picking!
    • Pool, mini golf on site.
    • Incredibly creak restrooms and showers.
    • Camp store.
    • On-demand public transport for $6/person for all-day access.
    • Walking distance to Big Ed and Honda Center.
    • Along Santa Ana River Trail path that connects beach to San Bernardino Mts.
    • Security at night.
    • Dog runs (kinda stinky, though)
    • Back-in and pull-thru sites (I’d try to stay closer to Struck and the western side)
    • Rules are there to keep things nice and safe.
    • Good wifi

    Cons:

    • Stinky dog runs
    • Street racing nearby at night. Every time.

Guide to La Cañada Flintridge

RV camping near La Cañada Flintridge occupies varied terrain at elevations ranging from sea level to over 4,000 feet in the San Gabriel Mountains. Most RV parks in the region operate in a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and warm summers, though inland locations can experience temperature swings of 30+ degrees between day and night. Cell service varies significantly, with mountain areas having notably reduced coverage for Verizon users.

What to do

Horseback riding and trails: At Rancho Jurupa RV Park, visitors can explore miles of riding paths alongside the wetlands. "Beautiful views all around Sunrise, Sunset and Night sky. Sights of all kinds of birds like hawks and herons," notes one camper who appreciated the wildlife viewing opportunities.

Fishing opportunities: Bonelli Bluffs offers fishing access at the adjacent lake. "There is camping, horseback riding, fishing, trails, biking, hiking, picnics, you can use your jet skies in designated areas, swimming on the pool areas, kayaking, Park for kids and plenty more," explains a visitor who enjoyed the variety of water activities.

Urban exploration: Many visitors use Hollywood RV Park as a base for exploring Los Angeles. "It takes some planning to visit LA when you are traveling with an RV. This seems to be one of the best places to stay with an RV to visit LA, since driving and parking an RV in LA can be challenging and parking an RV in west LA is not allowed," writes one camper who navigated the city logistics.

What campers like

Family amenities: Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon receives praise for its recreational facilities. "Great place to explore LA and greater LA area, 45 min to Hollywood sign. Park is a large TT resort with recently remolded lodge in 2019," shares a visitor who used it as a home base for city exploration.

Ocean views: Campers at Malibu Beach RV Park consistently highlight the location. "I have been on a 3 month trip and stayed at 22 different campgrounds. Malibu RV Resort has the best views for the price, hands down," writes one reviewer who compared multiple camping options.

Theme park proximity: Anaheim Harbor RV Park positions campers near major attractions. "Nice, small pool area, bbq areas, a club house, clean bathrooms and showers and WiFi. The R.V. Park is within walking to the Disneyland park," notes a tent camper who appreciated the convenient location.

What you should know

Security considerations: Campgrounds near La Cañada Flintridge have varying security measures. At Rancho Jurupa Park, "Nice staff! Would of liked to be on grass like the sites across but they were clean! Only downside was that the ranger said to lock up bikes and be careful leaving out items because a local has been coming in stealing," reports one camper highlighting safety concerns.

Noise factors: Train noise impacts some locations significantly. At Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon, reviewers mention: "It's very very close to railroad tracks and at night the loud train kept waking us up," while Malibu Beach RV Park campers report being awakened by different sounds: "We were woken up by the Disneyland fireworks."

Parking logistics: Rafael's RV Park offers extremely limited spaces. "Rafael is very kind and helpful. The place is well equipped," notes a visitor, though with only two sites available, advance booking is essential, especially for larger vehicles.

Tips for camping with families

Water recreation options: Golden Shore RV Resort provides aquatic amenities. "Staff keeps the grounds clean, clean bathrooms, heated pool and hot tub, and other fun things to do like horse shoes," writes a camper who enjoyed the recreational facilities.

Playground access: Several parks feature dedicated children's areas. At Rancho Jurupa Park, "Splash pad, park, mini golf great amenities," reports a visitor highlighting the family-friendly features available.

Budget planning: Additional fees can significantly impact costs. As one camper at Anaheim Harbor RV Park explains, "Despite Disneyland being a family destination, their campsites are for 2 people only. You must pay for each additional person over 10 years old. You must pay for your family pet."

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: At Californian RV Resort, positioning matters. "Small spots, but level, clean, cement, and full hook up. Bathrooms have great showers, extremely clean, pool and hot tub. 40 to 50 mins to LA and 1 hr to Longbeach," shares an RVer who found the location convenient for city access.

Transportation alternatives: When staying at Hollywood RV Park, consider rideshare services. "We took an uber. If you stay on the West side of the city it's okay (still 50/60 USD) for a single ride. But If you want to explore any of the nicer beaches like manhattan Beach I do suggest to take the campervan, park at one of the malls in that area and then take an uber from there," advises one experienced camper.

Utility requirements: Some parks require specific equipment lengths. As one visitor notes about Anaheim Harbor RV Park, "You must have a 25ft sewage hose," which can be problematic for RVers not carrying extended hose options.
