    Fiddlers Cove RV Park

Great RV Park - We love it!

Very clean and well maintained but rather small RV park collocated with a nice marina. This is a military installation so it’s not open to the public. This is our go to staycation place on San Diego bay. Close enough to Coronado but far enough to be secluded. 20/30/50 amp power, water, and cable TV connections on the pedestals. Most spaces are back-in, but some are pull-through. Pet friendly with disposal stations, and the park has a nice mini-mart.

    Lake Jennings

    Lake Jennings, A Peaceful Escape

We took our 28-foot travel trailer and two young kids (ages 5 & 8) for a long weekend at Lake Jennings Campground in Lakeside, CA — and it was a fantastic quick escape. Just 30 minutes east of San Diego. This hilltop park offers peaceful vibes, spacious sites, and family fun without the long drive. RV-Friendly Sites Our full-hookup pull-through site (30-amp) was easy to maneuver with plenty of space and privacy. Many sites have nice lake or city views (worth the small upgrade). Hookups worked great, and the clean restrooms/hot showers were a short walk away. Free Wi-Fi was a handy bonus. The shaded, covered playground was a huge hit, along with games like ladder golf, cornhole, and horseshoes. Short hiking trails start right from the campground with great lake overlooks. We rented a boat for fishing (no swimming — it’s a drinking water reservoir) and the kids loved spotting wildlife. Quiet hours were respected for good sleep. Friendly staff, well-maintained grounds, and a safe, gated feel made it relaxing. Pricing is reasonable Lake Jennings delivers scenic views, roomy RV sites, and kid-friendly activities in a convenient location. Perfect for families wanting a low-key getaway close to home. We’ll be back! Highly recommended for RV families

    Sweetwater Summit Regional Park

    Family Bonding Heaven

Our big family of eight had a wonderful four-night stay at Sweetwater Summit Regional Park Campground in Bonita with our 45ft travel trailer, and the North Loop provided a convenient base just 20-25 minutes from downtown San Diego. We secured one of the spacious premium pull-through sites. #63 which had full hookups (30/50 amp electric, water, and sewer) on a long paved pad that comfortably handled our large rig and gave everyone plenty of room to spread out with multiple vehicles and outdoor setups. The kids loved the playgrounds, seasonal splash pad, gentle family hiking trails with beautiful Sweetwater Reservoir views, plus picnicking, fishing opportunities, and open spaces for group games—making it an ideal spot for memorable family bonding with modern amenities right at hand.Book early (as early as a year in advance) as the North Loop fills quickly, especially the premium spots.

    Pechanga RV Resort

This Is A Resort With All Amenities

I spent a few nights using my Passport America discount at Pechanga RV Resort. I really liked it there. This is now one of my favorite RV resorts in California except for the showers. It is clean, well-maintained, concrete, level pads, full hookups, 168 site spaces, 20-30-50 amp power, 5 luxury spaces that The park itself is clean, well-maintained, concrete, level pads, full hookups, 168 site spaces, 20-30-50 amp power, 5 luxury spaces that is fenced in with gazebo, and picnic tables. First of all, it is part of the Casino with entertainment and restaurants. This casino reminds me of the Vegas casinos and now is under construction to make it a real Vegas Style Resort. It’s going to be finished sometimes in 2017.

The RV resort itself has a nice heated pool, Jacuzzi, ping pong table. They also have a golf club which could be important for some. One thing I hated is the showers. The RV resort shower has a timer set to 25 seconds and the showerhead is not able to stand upright. So you basically have to hold the shower in one hand and keep pressing the timer every 25 seconds. It’s December, it’s cold in the shower, especially because the water keeps shutting off. You end up standing soaking wet putting soap on yourself in the cold.

I wonder if the hotel rooms have timer on the showers as well. The person who came up with this idea should take showers in there each night. It pet-friendly resort, they also have an area for dogs. If you heading to the casino, they have a shuttle service 24/7 which picks ups from and drop-offs to and from your space. You have to call a number and they are there to pick you up in minutes.

About the WiFi! It’s the best WiFi ever in any parks I’ve so far visited! I wasn’t even close to the main building and had a great reception. I am able to use my Roku to watch Netflix and can use my laptop as well for work. I didn’t even need my Sprint or Verizon, but both work fine. Across the street, there is a 2-mile bike/walk trail. Using this and riding around the nice neighborhoods it was a fun way to get some exercise.

    Jojoba Hills SKP Resort

A little Pricey, but a Gem!

You must be an Escapee member to stay here. Many long term residents who stay here seasonally or year round. It's a co-op, so members do a lot of the work around the place.

If you're not a long term resident, you can rent either a full hook-up site for $45 a night or $270/week. Dry camping sites are $15 night.

The people here are lovely. I attended a holiday play while I was there. There's a gym, a pool, several hot tubs and so many activities to participate in. Also great hiking trails right inside the co-op.

Temecula is just a short drive away with all the stores you would need. I had a nice two week stay. Recommended.

    Military RV park

Water front back in sites, pull through sites, other back in sites not waterfront and two tent sites. Don’t book with the concierge service. Easier to call the campground itself. Cell service is great and they have WiFi. Clean restrooms with shower. Water, sewage and power hook ups (30&50 amp). Small store and a boat house you can rent stuff like kayaks and paddle boards from. Great hidden gem.

Tips from RVers

Park assistance: Request help when backing into tight spaces. A Paradise By The Sea RV Resort camper mentioned, "One of the team members will help you park when you check in which is really helpful. Concrete pads and hookups placed conveniently by your rig."

Internet reliability: Test connection quality upon arrival. At Paradise By The Sea RV Resort, campers reported, "AT&T cell service worked full bars and wifi was great. Very little trouble working remote or streaming."

Site selection: Request spots away from common areas and entrances. At Sun Outdoors San Diego Bay, a visitor advised, "Be cautious about what site you select. We had #1 and it is so noisy that we had to buy a white noise machine. We had site #210 and it is the best, view, reasonably quiet."
