We loved the history and beauty of THSP. Everyone was so friendly, but we felt like we were on top of the people beside us.
The good:
Quiet Big shady trees Creek goes through it Lots of neat buildings Camp store has some items and snacks
The not so good:
Not much information on what you are looking at or should look for
Picnic tables in sad shape
Camping spots had a bit of a parking lot feel
Bathhouse in disrepair and outdated. Also quite a walk from many campsites.
There appears to be a skeet range adjacent to the camp. We were lucky enough to see a forestry helicopter (tree trimming) working and it used the field to land to refuel.
There was also a swimming pool - closed during our visit for winter of course, but looked like it was an attraction.
Good week end get away campground. improvements have been made. Easy access to city
This quiet campground has great staff. Clean restrooms. Easy in and out
We only stayed one night. Large campground, broken into 3 areas. Lots of camp sites and cabins too. Campground was wooded, clean and had all the amenities you could need.
We're craft vendors at Tannehill Trade Days March- November and we've started camping out there every month. My grandkids absolutely love it. The ride their bikes, play in the creek, and eat great ice cream from the creamery!
This is one of my family’s favorite parks. Some great waterfront spots available with full hookups, but book early. New online state system used to make reservations and get the spot you want. Clean beach, boat rentals and clean bath houses. This park gets full in the fall with campers and people who come down for the football games. Playgrounds for the kids and plenty of foot trails.
Great place to get away and relax. Only stayed one night passing through and everyone was super friendly and the park was kept up well.
My only complaint about lake lurleen is the lack of cell service- but do you need that when camping!? Bathrooms are older, best well kept for public bathrooms. We love the swim area and it’s always clean. They have a few small parks for kids, walking and bike trails, paddle boats, boat ramps, and ducks! Even through we live close by we enjoy spending our weekends here when we can!
Lake Lurleen is a beautiful, well kept place to camp. Bathrooms are exceptionally clean. The camp sites are big and well maintained. The only draw back was if you are camped at the bottom and have to do the hill climb in the dark to the rest room.
