We are a very clean and quiet campground only 3 miles off the highway. Owners are on site to assist 24/7 so come in at any hour and you will have help! VERY large (45'x75') pull through sites. You won't even need to unhook while you are staying. Full hook up sites available. We have a convenient store on the property and sell beer, ice, firewood, snacks and other camping essentials. Pets are welcome! There is a shower house on site with very large and clean individual shower rooms and a laundry facility. Great campground for military, large level sites. Long term sites have covered patios. Full hookup, no wi fi. Laundry rooms, 1.00 to wash and dry, with efficient cycles. Lake with playground and large dog park. Exceptionally friendly staff. Quiet and we'll maintained. Shower rooms available, although have not used. You do hear planes going over but not too loud as some AFB's we've stayed at. Relvery plays at 6:30 am, Star Spangled Banner at 5:00pm, and TAPS at 9pm, not offensively loud, kinda like it. Would highly recommend and will be staying awhile great monthly rates. Great Verizon signal.

This place is now called"The Backyard RV Resort". Gravel roads and pull-thru sites. Stayed overnight while passing through. Convenient to I-65. Can hear Highway and trains outside but didnt bone inside my RV. A little pricey($69) versus the amenities offered. Staff was very friendly on the phone when I called to reserve a spot. Excellent coverage from AT&T. Didnt connect to their WiFi. Would stay here again if visiting the area. Might look for cheaper alternative if just passing through. We camped at The Backyard RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

RangerThis is a casino RV park and looks to by new. Pads are hard surfaced and spaced far apart. Grounds well kept and full hookups available. Walking distance to casino and they offer a shuttle.

This campground is set up mostly for people who either want a long term space for their RV or to stay in a yurt for a couple of nights. The whole place is set up to have easy access to the water and it does this really well. There are multiple docks and plenty of spaces to tie up your boat. Additionally, the lake is really enormous so you can be out on the water all day. Don't expect a lot of privacy or space when staying here but it is perfect if you want a long term place to stay and access the water without having to pay the high prices for a house in the nearby area.

If you need a place to stay for the night, Scenic Drive RV Park is a good option. That said, this is not a quaint or charming camping experience.
It is a large parking lot with level sites, all hook-ups, clean bathrooms, hot showers and a pleasant host. There are no attractions you can walk to. There is no place to go without a car. You are perched close to the highway. The host, Max, is quite pleasant and takes good care of the property.

LegendThis is an okay campground but really caters to RVs. There's a whole lot of concrete, perfect for recreational vehicles but not so much for tent or hammock campers. It's more of an RV resort of sorts.
Tent sites are cheap at $5/night but you're limited to only 7 nights. Which probably won't matter to a tent camper here, as I would think being here for that long would be a bit much.
There are a ton of amenities here, including an old softball field turned into a dog park of sorts. There is a nice little lake but that's about it in terms of 'natural' amenities. Okay spot if you just need a place to stay the night but I wouldn't prolong a visit here. Also sort of loud given its close proximity to the train tracks.
ScoutThis is a great campground that has ONLY long term camping so you really get to know your neighbors. The power is not included but the prices are very reasonable.

The view is fantastic if you are lakeside- but it stops there. Most rentals are along one row and a couple of the lakeside sites. Sites are very unleveled with minimal gravel but almost all have a 6x9 concrete pad. No pool, no fire rings, spotty wifi and frequent brown outs on power. Both shower points smell horrible but appear clean otherwise. Lots of long-term vehicles. People are friendly and pets are welcome.

This was a fantastic campground! We stayed in the Upper Improved Campground and it was absolutely wonderful! The sites were large and well spaced out. We had a large pull-thru site with full hook-ups and a lovely firepit setting above where we parked our trailer.
Be sure and take the trails to the lookouts. The hikes were short but so scenic. We hiked both to Pulpit's Rock and to Bald Rock. The views were magnificent.

Would give 5 stars if not for mosquitos and no-see-ums that came right through our RV screens. Even repellent didn't seem to stop them from biting on one particular evening, but the second day was better. We could see the lake from our site, which had full hook-ups even tho' sewer hook up wasn't mentioned on recreation.gov. Birders we traveled with enjoyed many sightings. Bathroom not immaculate but clean enough and had coin washer and dryer in pavilion.

This is a really nice RV park that provides close access to the racetrack. It is wonderfully taken care of and has recently been renovated. They have a playground and several covered areas for picnics and group gatherings. A key bonus to this site is the pool which is very necessary when camping in Alabama in the summer. Overall, I would definitely suggest checking this campground out as an option if you are headed to a race and coming for the weekend.

This is great as a stopover - very close to highway 20 and multiple gas stations. I'm not a big Nascar guy, but its literally right next to Talledega Speedway, so ideal for racedays as well.

Awesome campground. If you look at the map you’ll see that some sites are full hook-up and some are not. We stayed in C section with full hook-ups. They have playgrounds throughout the campground, trails from 1 mile long to 15 miles long that can be utilized by horse, bike, or on foot. Boat rentals include two different places. The marina for motorized jon boats and pontoon boats. You can rent these for 4-48 hours. If you’re renting one of their boats then you need a vessel license. If you don’t have a vessel licenses then you can take the test at the marina. At the Creem Shop (they sell ice cream, burgers, etc) you can rent pedal boats and canoes. They have a zip line and tree line adventure course, mini-golf, a beach area for swimming, and plenty of fishing spots. They also offer church services on Sunday morning. Check in is at 4 pm and check out is at 2 pm. Spots are close together but I’ve seen worse. Campground is clean and wasn’t noisy. We will definitely be coming back for a longer stay in the future.

We have stayed here many times when were on the road heading out for the summer. We had full hook up, a picnic table & there is a small clean restroom near the pool if needed along with a laundry room & place to sit inside if it's hot out. They have DVD's and some books we trade them where were there. We only stay a night & stay hooked up to the truck. The owners Gigi & her husband work hard to keep the gardens beautiful, the campground maintained & the pool is so clean & refreshing. You can get propane here.

ScoutTraveling through the area fairly often, I stayed here every other week over a 3 month period. The host was very friendly and oriented me to things I might need in the area. (Groceries, Hardware store, Food, etc.) Every check in gets escorted to their campsite, guided in, and he personally checks the water hook up and the power pole to make sure it works. Ground crews are constantly out making sure the areas stay neat and clean. The sites are gravel and are mostly level, I believe the most I had to adjust was 1.5". Every site has a concrete patio with a table. The laundry and showers are cleaned every day and work as expected. Washer is $2 and dryer is $2. Lots of long term renters present in the campground, but I never had a bad interaction with any of them. Large fenced in area for dogs, but being dogless in my travels....I never used it. There is an open field that connects to an oyster bar on the West side of the park with descent food. To the South of the park is a small pond with a walking track.
All in all this is a GREAT place to stay. the only reason I gave 4 stars is that there's not a lot of shade. Every site has a small tree next to it, but it's not much.
GuideGreat camp grounds with plenty of things to do to keep everyone entertained. I gave it 4 stars only because you have to stay here for a week to get premium sites with 50 amp service. But this area is very clean and has very spacious camp sites. We were in section E. This area was very quite and had full hook-ups at our site. The WiFi in this section was not good at all. We used our cellphones with unlimited data to stream shows at night. Verizon cell phone service can be flaky in certain areas. We will be sure to visit this park again for a weekend get away.

GuideGunter Hill Park is a Corp of Engineers campground just outside of Montgomery, Alabama. Although we have not camped at many COE parks, I can't imagine any of them topping this one! Of the 142 sites, 1-75 are renovated with concrete pads and full hook-ups. We were there in February and the weather was a little wet & cold. Since it wasn't very crowded, only 1 area of campsites was open. Be aware if you're there during a string of heavy rain days as some low lying sites may become flooded. Our site backed up to a point where we could sit and watch the water. However, if we had stayed another day we would have been told to move as more rain was expected and the water levels were rising.
The bathrooms were very clean and well maintained. There were also a few hiking trails and nice paved roads for bikes. I did smell a paper factory in the air while we were there. I've also read that you can hear the race cars from the Montgomery Speedway during racing season from your campsite.
There was a lot to explore around the area as well. We went into Montgomery several times. I recommend checking out the AL Dept of History & Archives free museum. Its very well done and I learned a lot about Alabama. We also visited the Memorial for Peace & Justice along with the Legacy Museum. Both very well done and thought provoking.
For a different setting for a meal, check out the nearby Stockyard Grill. You can go in for a burger and leave with the whole cow!

There is a nice dog park, playground, covered pavilion, laundry room, dated bathroom, but clean. Shirley reserved our spot, and helped us pull through,and hook up, with our new RV! There is a little path/bridge, so We walked over to Camping World to get our bigger RV. The next morning, we had a few questions, so the Camping World service employee, came over (on a golf cart)to answer them. We decided to stay another night, and it was easy enough for Shirley to extend our reservation. If we were in the area again we would go back. There is a lot to do in the area….Talladega National Forest, Talladega SuperSpeedway and Cheaha State Park.T-Mobile was good, and paid about $30 night with Good Sam Discount. This Campground is also known as CWGS Campground of Oxford.
GuideCheaha State Park is located south of I-20 close to Oxford& Anniston, Alabama. Its in one of the highest areas of the state and the towing incline to get there proves it. If your truck is struggling to tow your camper, this might not be the place for you.
We were here over Easter weekend during the COVID-19 shut down. I was surprised by the number of campers over the weekend with some even tent camping. This park has it all. Nice sites with full hook-ups. What looked like a clean, new bath house, although I didn't use it. Lots of hiking trails, some of which are strenuous. And talk about the scenery! You really are rewarded with stunning cliff side panorama views of the area.
If you're not into camping, this park also has multiple cottages for rent that looked really nice. There is also a lodge, restaurant, and a swimming pool with a view. Many things were closed due to the virus, but it looks like it is a great place when things are open. Since it's a short drive from the Atlanta area, I know we'll be back.
