As a Ranger for The Dyrt, I occasionally get the opportunity to test gear in the field. During our 14-day road trip around the US, I was lucky enough to try out the GO camper from SylvanSport.
This was the fourth-night camping in the GO and we are still discovering little things we love about this camper. Today, after steering the GO exactly into position with no fuss, we realized just how effortless maneuvering this camper really is. Pulling into campgrounds has never been easier.
On our fourth night on the road, we stayed at Desert View Campground and I was able to test Green Goo’s Dry Skin products. From here, we’ll head to Mather Campground where I’ll continue to camp and test gear for 14 straight days.
Day 4 of 14: Road Trip Around the US
Campground: Desert View Campground
The fourth night we stayed in the GO was at Desert View Campground in Grand Canyon National Park.
When I started planning our trip to the Grand Canyon, I knew I wanted to camp somewhere close to the canyon. Located on the south eastern rim and only about 200-300 yards from the canyon (as the crow flies), you can’t get much closer than Desert View.
The Verdict: Nothing beats being able to wake up and walk over to the canyon to see the sunrise. Desert View Campground is unbeatable in terms of location, and we loved the few nights we stayed here. The sites are somewhat primitive, as there aren’t any hookups, but there are flush restrooms available. If you want to shower, you’ll have to go to the other campground in the area (Mather Campground).
Sites are given on a first come, first served basis, and typically fill up around the middle of the day. When we were there in June, the sites were full by 10 am, so be sure to get there early. Tent campers far outnumbered RVers at this spot, but the sites do have access to campers/RVs that are 30ft or less (truck and trailer). The sublime desert scenery and opportunity to explore the southern rim of the canyon makes camping here a must.
Gear: Green Goo’s Dry Skin
At this stop, I tried out Green Goo’s Dry Skin products. As a sandal wearer and from being outside so often, my hands and feet can really dry out. By the middle of summer, my feet have already begun to crack and split, which is both annoying and painful.
The Verdict: Hoping that my hands and feet would be crack-free, I was more than excited to try out the Dry Skin products from Green Goo. But, I started off wrong. My problem was that I waited to put the Dry Skin on my feet after they had already begun to split. So, the lotion didn’t work as well as I had wished. Next time, I’ll be sure to start using the lotion as a preventative instead of it being the problem solver.
