One of the most well-established campgrounds in the Wichita Mountains, Camp Doris is open year-round. It’s a modern campsite with excellent amenities, including a store, ADA access, cabins, tents, electricity, and phone service.

Due to the camping options and amenities, Camp Doris is suitable for all types of travelers. All campsites have tables, fire rings, and grates for cooking. However, it tends to get busy at peak times.

2. Lake Lawtonka East Campground

Lake Lawtonka East Campground is an ideal site for those interested in water-based activities. The lake is linked to various streams from the Wichita Mountains and has around 21 miles of shoreline. It’s safe for swimming, multiple types of boating, and water sports. Medicine park also provides a picturesque area to explore.

The campsite has electrical hookups, water, and hot showers, making it suitable for casual campers.

3.  Great Plains

As a family-friendly Wichita Mountains camping option, the Great Plains is another well-serviced campground run by hospitable and helpful staff. With electrical and sewage hookups, it is an ideal location to take your RV.

Located under the watchful eye of the Wichita Mountains, right next to Tom Steed Lake, there is plenty to do here. Rock climbing and trails of varying difficulties allow you to explore the rougher terrain.

4. Medicine Creek RV Military – Fort Sill

Medicine Creek isn’t your average Wichita Mountains camping site. It is a military base, but non-military visitors can also get a pass to stay here. The campgrounds are known for having all the necessary amenities and for being quiet.

There is plenty of wildlife in the area. On a short walk around the site, you’re likely to spot some elk, bison, longhorn, or deer.

5. Robinson’s Landing

Robinson’s Landing is a Wichita Mountains camping hidden gem. Despite being off the beaten track, this campsite is packed full of amenities, including electricity, a sanitary dump, hot water, and a store.

Situated right next to the lake, it’s a perfect location to enjoy peaceful exploration on the water. The lake is generally relatively calm, making kayak rental very worthwhile.

This area is perfect for families with young children as there are 6 playgrounds nearby.

It is also a popular spot for weddings because of the varying accommodation options and beautiful scenery.

Collier Landing is open year-round, and with excellent access to the lake, you can easily take your boat out for a weekend of fishing or water activities. The campsite is modest, but it has a few key features, including a charcoal grill and electricity access.

With ample seating and picnic tables, this is a great quiet option in the Wichita Mountains. It is an ideal location for a group getaway.
