Stage 2 Fire Restriction: NO CAMPFIRES ARE ALLOWED, NO VISIBLE FLAMES ALLOWED, NO PROPANE FIRE PITS ALLOWED. Devices using pressurized liquid or gas (stoves, grills, or lanterns) that include shut-off valves are permitted when used in an area at least three feet or more from flammable material such as grasses or pine needles. Seminoe, Buffalo Bill, Boysen, Sinks Canyon, Medicine Lodge, and Curt Gowdy are all reservable sites where you are permitted to have wood fires in designated areas. Many campers appreciated the spacious, well-separated sites with concrete picnic tables and water access. Visitors frequently highlighted the peaceful, uncrowded atmosphere and proximity to fishing and Devils Tower.

Perfect!

Camped at spots 41 & 43. Every campsite has a concrete picnic table which is a great feature that I wish more campgrounds could do! No electrical or water at campsite but in the middle of the loop we were at there was a fresh water spicket where you could get water if needed either by bucket or a very long garden hose.

We stayed a Monday thru Thursday and were the only campers in the loop. You're 20 min from Devils Tower so make the trip!

Nice quiet campground

We stayed in the Homestead campground at Keyhole State Park. Most of the campgrounds at Keyhole can be reserved 120 days in advance but this campground opens 14 days in advance to accommodate those making last minute reservations. We had a large pull through campsite with complete privacy on the back side of our camper. It was a short walk to the water with decent fishing nearby. The campground had potable water and vault toilets but the sites were primitive. There is a shower house, dump and rinse, and marina at Keyhole a short drive from this campground.

Surprisingly cool spot!

If you are on your way up to Devils Tower and are looking for camping this is definitely the spot instead of the KOA camping. Its about an hour away and way less crowded. If you like more of a primitive camping experience go for the homestead camping spots. All dirt (no contrete pads), some shade, a decent amount of space between camp spots and close to water. We only had fly fishing rods but still were able to catch some decent size bass. If you like fishing, and arent a skilled fly fisher, definitely bring a good casting rod- fish are all pretty big and aggressive (walleyes, bass, sunfish etc).

You can swim anywhere in the reservoir except where boats dock. If you have pets though I would be cautious around the water, there are tons of signs up about algea blooms.

Its a 6 hour drive from Denver, but I'll probably head up to Keyhole whenever Colorado has strict fire bans. Pretty neat spot, reservation only at the moment.

Amazing campground!

Great camping around a beautiful reservoir. The camping sites are spread out and it has everything you could need. Site Homestead #39 has great views and fishing access
