Right Outside the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park The campground is OPEN MARCH 1st - November 30th Monday-Saturday 9 am-6pm The store opens March 15th. CLOSED SUNDAYS August-September Canyonlands Needles Outpost is a campground at the entrance of the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park in southeast Utah that combines the fun of rustic camping spots with a few modern conveniences.

We are a short 2 miles away from The Needles District of Canyonlands visitor center and 1.5 miles away from the Needles District of Canyonlands NP entrance with some of the best hikes around, 1.5 HOURS from MOAB, 2 hours from Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands NP. We are 37 miles from Hwy 191. No public transportation . The hiking trails in the park are a few miles away. You are welcome to climb the red rock back drop inside our campground with knowledge of the cryptobiotic soil which you can find on our fun facts page. We have unleaded gasoline only available, no diesel. YOU DO NOT NEED 4WD to get to our campground. IT IS STRONGLY ADVISED YOU TAKE A SCREENSHOT OF THESE WRITTEN DIRECTIONS because you will lose service on you way down the canyon. Often times GPS will drop guests 10+ miles up the road. DO NOT RELY ON GPS. Thank you. Traveling south from Moab: Take 191 S. for approximately 37 miles, turn R onto US Hwy 211. (This is not the turn that says Needles Overlook but the next right a couple of miles past that road) Traveling north from Monticello: Take 191 N. for 15 miles, turn L onto US Hwy 211 (If you see the road for Needles Overlook you have passed us by a couple of miles) Cont. from 191 Drive down 211 for 12 miles and stop at Newspaper Rock if you have time, otherwise keep driving approximately 22 miles further past Newspaper Rock. You will see the sign saying Entering Canyonlands National Park. We are about 1 mile past that sign on the right. You will then see our sign for the Outpost on the right before our private road. ALL GUESTS MUST STOP AT THE STORE TO CHECK-IN. PARKING IS NEXT TO THE PORCH AT THE STORE. PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK THE GAS PUMPS.
