Looking for an adventure to make the best of this crazy year

Great Spot!

We were on a two week trip across NC and actually stayed here twice. It was clean, had hookups (which was really nice!), and great sites. First night we had a couple stair walk up which I really enjoyed as a separate space so the kids could sleep and we could hang. Second night was closer to the lake and had a great view of the sunset. Several dumping stations, pretty flat, and enough space to maneuver. Would definitely stay here again!

Great Time!

We wanted a last minute, quick drive from Asheville and got lucky with a spot! It was a double which we didn’t need but could see really enjoying with some friends and family. Girls loved being near the water. It was fairly quiet and think would be fun for kids to play post covid. Quick ride to some great hiking! I would have liked a little more foliage around our spot especially as it was at the turn for the loop (56). We will be back!

Great Spot, Close to Asheville

We have been trying to find campgrounds close to home to make a quick weekend and Curtis Creek didn’t disappoint! Fairly quick drive, groceries in Old Fort, gravel road and you are there. Not very big but that was great for us. Several hikes right from the campground. We stayed near the road which was fine at night but was really busy during the day with hunters so that was kind of a bummer and probably the only reason I knocked it a star. Kids loved playing at the creek and will try to get a site on that side next time!

Great Location

We stayed for two nights, a little away from the main camp area but was kinda glad for it. Had a great spot tucked into the woods near the water. Great path to skip rocks and just enjoy. Fire pit was a little weird but made it work. We were close to the road which was kind of a bummer but as I mentioned, not in the main area so probably can’t fault it for that.

When driving through the main area though, spaces were pretty tight, very full, and not all seemed friendly for a camper/RV though there were some. It was truly beautiful though, gas station on the way in and downtown Burnsville/grocery store wasn’t too far away.

Pretty but..

I really enjoyed the drive in for this one- crossed the dam, saw tons of deer, fairly large so lots of sites but descent space between them. The view off the lake at sunset was beautiful! However, our site didn’t have water hook up which I though let it should (some did, some didn’t so maybe just missed on my end). Our site was pretty trashed from the people prior and the fire was actually still burning. And heard the highway sounds all. night. long. I thought we were far enough away but not the case. Also had a train, some planes, and neighbors were up very early. It was a pretty campground for sure but overall not an enjoyable experience.

Great View

This was a just an overnight for us as we were traveling but really enjoyed it! Loved seeing the lake out the window in the morning. Had a covered picnic table, hook ups, shade, and fairly spaced out sites. Little town was nearby for gas and groceries.

Our Favorite

After three weeks on the road, we extended our trip for one last hurrah before heading East. And so glad we did! This site was amazing! Nestled around some rocks and trees for our kids to be able to wander, this was what we were looking for. Host was great, sites were spaced and had trees to provide some privacy. Good mix of sun and shade. Chipmunks were aplenty which was maybe the only downside- ha! Aspens were changing, chilly nights, did a little 4x4 down the road. It was a great time!

Beautiful and Quiet

We got in late so definitely didn’t get to enjoy this one as much as we had hoped. It is quite a ways out and while they do have gas, fill up beforehand! Very little (if any) cell service. But it was amazing! So dark that the sky was just shimmering and everyone around us was very quiet. Kids enjoyed the rock behind the site while we made meals. Sun was beautiful rising in the morning. Was a quick ride over to the Needles district of Canyonlands where we enjoyed the Cave Spring Trail especially with our kids and a very short amount of time we had. Would love to come back here and get to enjoy the site longer.

Beautiful!

We really enjoyed this spot! Those sites on the lake seem primo but our site still had some good space and not too close to others (though very few trees so not a ton of privacy and would need a shade in the warmer months). Sunset was beautiful, enjoyed skipping rocks and even some mountain biking for our 9 year old. Did a hike at Lily Pad Lake and a quick trip into downtown Frisco. Had a great time and hope to be back!

Great View of the Lake

We pulled into this one kinda late at night so didn’t get to fully enjoy it. Sites were pretty close together and there was some event or something across the way that had really loud music until 11p or so. Waking up on the lake was amazing though!

Pretty

This was our first stop on a trip out west. It was a great spot to pull into for the night, pretty sunset over the little lake on site. Sites were kinda close together but that is more of a preference thing I think. Picnic table, hook ups, level, host was friendly.
