First day of my campsite, I’ve enjoyed my campers. I told them about the area and name of the monuments . I did start with 2 campsites, than continued to built more campsite. I wanted my campers to enjoy a fire pit and shower during their stay. Now we have warm shower during warmer season. We been improving our outhouse which is an outdoor restroom. An outhouse is dirt hole with no water to flush. Our campsite is very safe, I built a wooden fence around the whole campsite so horses and cows will not eat our trees and garden. Campers to feel comfortable and have some privacy to their site and during their stay. Now, Our campers guests enjoy our campsite and enjoy having them return again. We always explain to them them about our short hiking trail to the rims (Private Overlook) to see the whole valley. Its a beautiful area to take pictures for Sunrise and Sunset.

Guest can pitch a tent or park RV within the campsite having access to own picnic table and fire pit. The Campsite is 10-15 mins to the Valley View of the Famous Monuments and close to Navajo Tribal Park.

Access to Shower and Restroom (Outhouse) Very Clean.

Guest can request Navajo Taco Dinner with Navajo Tea for extra cost to enlighten their stay here in Beautiful Monument Valley. Text or Call me at 435-444-5714 to request Our Delicious Navajo Taco with Navajo Tea.

Guest can bring pets as well. We are pet friendly and have two well behaved dogs name Shina and diamond.

Morefield Campground — Mesa Verde National Park

    Mesa Verde’s Gateway

Morefield Campground, located just inside Mesa Verde National Park, offers a convenient and scenic basecamp for exploring the park’s incredible ancient cliff dwellings and stunning landscapes. The campground is spacious and well-organized, with over 250 sites that accommodate tents, RVs, and trailers. The setting is peaceful, with sweeping views of mesas and easy access to trails like the Point Lookout Trail.

Amenities are a highlight here, including flush toilets, showers, a well-stocked camp store, and even a fuel station. It’s an excellent choice for families or those who appreciate a few comforts while camping.

However, campers should be prepared for sudden and severe weather. The high desert location can bring intense storms with strong winds. During our stay, our tent nearly flew away despite being staked down securely, so it’s worth bringing extra gear like sandbags or heavy-duty stakes to keep your setup anchored.

Overall, Morefield Campground is an excellent choice for exploring Mesa Verde, combining convenient amenities with a beautiful natural setting. Just keep an eye on the weather and pack accordingly to ensure a comfortable stay.

    Tons of sites

While kind of on the pricier side for campgrounds I really enjoyed my 2 nights there in early Oct 24. Easy access to get on the road to the cliff dwellings early in the day, flush bathrooms, tons of sites, trails nearby, a little center with a store, cafe, gas, and most importantly showers.

They let you pick your site which is nice so I got a site with a flat spot for my rooftop tent, but some sites are definately more geared to tent camping, but there are tons of site options.

    Would stay again.

    Extremely strict cancellation policy

Made a Rez 5 months ago and didn’t see the fine print cancellation policy stating 14 days out no refund. I had to make new plans due to unforeseen circumstances and called to find out that 13 days out is too bad for me. Not any concessions or credits for future stays, nada zilch. So for a slow time of year they just print money hoping no sees their fine print. I’m a business man and I’ve always seen rules as an opportunity to make someone’s day not motivation to make negative reviews. Maybe I’m old school but there was zero expense on their part and 5 months of cash holding for them. I guess their business is doing so well that they send people the other direction when looking for a place to stay

Don’t let the dilapidated mobile home near the entrance scare you away. This place is super well maintained. Every site is well thought out and has great hookups. I thought a plug water and sewer was pretty uniform. Our site had a pedestal with 20/30/50 amp and then another with 30 20 feet further into the site. Lots of shade. The sites along the south edge of the property have amazing views of the Cortez valley and Sleeping Ute Mountain. Really nice communal fire pit, dog park and some trails too. Some sites have a beautiful brick fire ring too.

    Secluded rv park

Lovely little rv park just outside of town. Clean bathrooms, pool, little trail to walk to stretch your legs and well priced. 24 hr laundromat and not overcrowded. With as many empty spaces as they had, you’d think they wouldn’t have needed to put some rvs so close together.

    Don't stay here

My family and I have been to so many different campgrounds over the years and this one was the worst one I've ever seen. When we got there the place was filled with signs that basically said children couldn't do anything or only registered guests can do this. They also advertise putt putt but they had a tree that hung over one of the holes 2 feet off the ground making it almost impossible to play. As we got there a thunder storm was coming in making us uncomfortable setting up a tent. When we asked about switching to a cabin she told us it was a 2 night minimum and didn't even ask if we wanted to pay for 2 nights even though the cabins were completely empty. We ended up asking if we could car camp and she was very hesitant to even let us. When we got to our site it was so uneven and unmaintained that we couldn't even set up a tent if we wanted. There was also barely any gravel and with the rain car camping was a no. Even though we couldn't stay there because of the conditions she refused to give us a refund even a partial refund. As we were leaving with no place to stay she started smirking. We had to sleep at the Loves because everything else was booked. I'm am very disappointed, avoid this place at all cost.

Very clean park and professionally run

Can't get a better location if you're visiting Mesa Verde. It's a stones throw from the park entrance. The campground is very professionally run& kept very clean. We didn't get a chance to use the amenities but they looked great and I was kind of regretting I didn't book an extra day just to relax and hang out by the pool

    Wonderful stay, fabulous overlook

Stayed for 3 nights. Campsite was mostly level. Outhouse tidy and clean. Didn’t use the shower. Did the Navajo taco dinner, very tasty. They arranged a tour for me, ended up being a tour of just me, at sunrise for photos; Shane is great, arrived 10 minutes early. There’s a 15 min. walk to the overlook, worth doing every day for terrific views of Monument Valley. Would definitely stay there again.

Good for a quick overnight in Cortez

Cold night in CO! This was a weird spot. We booked online and when we showed up no owners or camp host on site. There were 5-10 campers on the ground. It's cold in CO and right before Thanksgiving, so probably why.

We went to office, it was locked. It saw to call a number for new arrivals. We did, no answer, left a message and no call back. We booked site #7 and the electric didn't work, so we moved to site #6. Couldn't access laundry or bathrooms.

They had a cute dog park. Trash can was full as if no one was doing maintenance, but at same time it looked like a open campground. Nice Mtn view! We are easy going and would book again, but if website lets you book online, it would be nice to have someone there to greet you.

Level spot, no wifi but had cell reception and Starlink. Great Mexican restaurants to eat at!!!

    Pricey but Fantastic

Pros: staying in MVNP!, flushing toilets and running (fresh) water everywhere, a nice variety of spots to choose from, nice showers available by the trading post

Cons: a bit pricey for what you get (40 bucks for no hookup), distance from the shower/shop requires driving, absolutely zero cell service whatsoever

    Cute little campground

Great view, lovely dogs, decent shower and toilet. Loads of flies until the sun went down. The hosts are very nice and told us about a 15 min private trail to take to see the beautiful monument valley sunrise, instead of paying quite a bit to get into the park and see it with everybody else
