The bumpy road leading to this small campground sits just off the main route into Monument Valley, with about eight sites scattered across compacted orange sand. Campers find themselves within walking distance of the tribal park entrance, where the famous loop drive operates from 8am to 4:30pm daily. The property maintains a quiet atmosphere despite its proximity to the main road, with resident dogs that often accompany visitors on the short trail to the overlook.
Each site includes a shaded picnic table, fire ring, and water jug provided by the hosts. The single shower runs lukewarm, while vault toilets sit outside the main camping area—reviewers recommend bringing a headlamp since the lighting can fail. WiFi operates during daytime hours before shutting off overnight. Corey M. arrived for a "very cold but a beautiful sunrise in Monument Valley all to myself" during a January tent camping trip, noting the 2WD sedan access remained manageable despite the rough surface.
The half-mile trail leads to an overlook with direct views into Monument Valley, which Amy W. found "worth doing every day for terrific views." The hosts arrange guided tours and serve Navajo tacos on-site, with multiple reviewers praising both the food and the family's hospitality. Several friendly dogs roam the property freely, though some tent campers report nighttime disturbances when the animals interact near campsites.
The campground operates year-round with reservations available, though temperatures can drop into the 40s during shoulder seasons. Sites accommodate both RVs and tents on the soft sand surface, which can become muddy during rain. The nearest services lie over 20 miles away, making this location well-suited for campers prioritizing Monument Valley access over convenience shopping. For those exploring the broader region, campgrounds near Monument Valley provide additional options within the Four Corners area.
Description
First day of my campsite, I’ve enjoyed my campers. I told them about the area and name of the monuments . I did start with 2 campsites, than continued to built more campsite. I wanted my campers to enjoy a fire pit and shower during their stay. Now we have warm shower during warmer season. We been improving our outhouse which is an outdoor restroom. An outhouse is dirt hole with no water to flush. Our campsite is very safe, I built a wooden fence around the whole campsite so horses and cows will not eat our trees and garden. Campers to feel comfortable and have some privacy to their site and during their stay. Now, Our campers guests enjoy our campsite and enjoy having them return again. We always explain to them them about our short hiking trail to the rims (Private Overlook) to see the whole valley. Its a beautiful area to take pictures for Sunrise and Sunset.
Guest can pitch a tent or park RV within the campsite having access to own picnic table and fire pit. The Campsite is 10-15 mins to the Valley View of the Famous Monuments and close to Navajo Tribal Park.
Access to Shower and Restroom (Outhouse) Very Clean.
