    Monument Valley KOA

New KOA, gonna be pretty good after it's finished

This is a New KOA during our stay the had some working being done still, they have just finished the bathrooms and showers, the road was still also being worked on, but was fine to drive in my car. It's very close to the actual park entrance only a few miles away, the wifi is spotty at best, and our electrical on our tent site was not yet up and running, they only had fire would for sale, as they were putting a small store together, and the road noise is not bad but it's right by the main roadway, with that all being said, all can easily be put aside as the VIEW.....AMAZING!!!

The bathrooms and showers had very nice materials in them, they were also putting together the kids playground, I plan to come back next year when hopefully it's complete. For the 3 night stay Under $120 it was perfect, which included our grass site for two tent's a fire ring with grill insert and a picnic table. There's another cool rock structure called Mexican hat which is about 30 minutes east and if you drive a little over an hour you can visit the four corners.

    Monument Valley KOA

    A smaller KOA

    General: 56-site campground with a mix of 50-amp pull-thru, 30-amp pull-thru, 30-amp back-in, and 30-amp tent/RV sites. All sites have water and electricity.

Site Quality: All sites are gravel and level. As expected in an RV park, there is no separation/privacy between sites. Our back-in 30-amp site had a picnic table, electricity, and water. However, the picnic table was on the opposite side of the water and electricity, which was confusing.

Bath/Shower house: Very clean. Nice hot water and pressure in the shower (turn the hot water all the way to the left to get the hot water going).

Activities/Amenities: Dog park, playground, laundry with three washers and three dryers ($4 per load for both which was very reasonable). Although the laundry did say it was open 24/7, when we checked in, the sheet advised us that the last load of laundry had to be in by 7 pm. There is a store open from 8 am– 8 pm. Horse tours can also be booked from the campground.

We stayed here as we needed to fill up on water and had booked a Monument Valley sunrise tour and the KOA was one of the pick-up sites. We were able to go on our tour and be back before check-out at 11 am. There are nice views from the campground.

    Escalante Outfitters

    Affordable option with hot showers

When I called, I was told there was tent camping only or rustic cabins. When I explained we had a camper van, I was told it would be ok. Upon arrival, we were told to park anywhere we could find a spot (and there was a truck camper doing the same). Lucky for us, we ended up at the end of the row, right next to the laundry room with a family restroom and shower. The downside to this was a lack of privacy as people entered the laundry room.

There are nine tent pads; 1-5 are very close together and there is no privacy between them but 6-9 are spaced a bit further apart. There is a covered picnic pavilion that can be used by the tent campers as well as what appeared to be picnic tables by each pad. I don’t know the cost of the cabins but for “tent” (for us, van) camping, it was $8 per person, reasonable considering the use of restrooms and showers were included. There is a store (with gear, clothing, and other souvenirs) and café on the premises; when we were there, the hours were limited(due to Covid) but their website indicates they are open for lunch and dinner till 8 or 9 pm (depending on the season). So, we quickly ate at the café (the sandwiches were delicious) and then settled in. The showers had plenty of HOT water, which after four days without a shower, was like heaven to us.

The laundry room was well-lit and had a table for folding laundry (or sitting at while waiting).

Although there is much to do in the area, there were no specific activities offered by Escalante Outfitters. For us in our van, we paid $16 to park in a gravel lot but the showers made it well worth the price.

    Gouldings RV and Campground

Full service getaway in Monument Valley

The perfect place to fill up during a Utah adventure. Great location, clean and well kept, and had everything we could think of: full hookups, good WiFi, on site laundry, a camp store, restaurant, and gas station. We had done 4 nights off grid in dispersed sites before this, so it was great to empty our tanks and fill up on water. We arrived after dark but it wasn’t too hard to navigate. I went over to the camp store and found a number to call for after hours registration. Within a few minutes security came by in a car and gave us all the info we needed for our site. We really appreciated that he was wearing a mask. MUST SEE: In the morning we did a short hike/walk to The Arch which I highly recommend!! It was about .5 miles from our site and absolutely stunning. NOTE that the road to Monument Valley is closed as are all parks / destinations in the Navajo Nation (due to COVID).

    Gouldings RV and Campground

    Surrounded by Amazing Views

This is a really nice campground within Navajo Nation near Monument Valley Park. With tax, we paid $47 for full hookups. Pretty pricey for us, but we didn’t have many other alternatives if we wanted to stay in this area. No boondocking allowed on Navajo Nation land.

There are a few RV sites with no hookups for $29 available, but you are charged $10 to use the dump anyway. There are also tent sites available. The views from this campground are just amazing, and there are several short hikes from here as well. They offer laundry, showers (hot and free and clean), wifi, and there is a store with some basic necessities.

A short walk away (about a mile) is the lodge, gift shop, museum, movie theater with a John Wayne movie every night, and restaurant. There’s also a grocery store. The setup is your basic RV park lineup of sites all in a row, but we didn’t mind at all, surrounded by such gorgeous scenery. Each site comes with a picnic table and fire ring.

Heads up that RVs are not allowed on the scenic loop through Monument Valley. Also that the America the Beautiful Annual Parks Pass is not honored here and it’s $20 to enter.

    Escalante Outfitters

    A Night at Escalante Outfitters

~$13.50/night to park in the gravel lot. I’ve got a RTT so it worked out perfectly. Full access to shop/restaurant, laundry, dish sink and shower (very hot, which was awesome).

Covered picnic tables and a communal fire pit nearby. Great alternative to the numerous BLM sites in and around town.

    Escalante Cabins & R.V. Park

Great place - but bright lights

10/10 for logistics - by far the easiest place to register, check in, check out. 10/10 for amenities - were easy to please. There were plenty of showers & bathrooms as well as laundry access. It was all very easy to access. 5/10 for the site… ONLY because we were at “Stargazer T-28” where the floodlights from the aforementioned building lit up our entire tent. It was honestly obnoxious & hard to sleep through. Sleepless night aside, the site was a good site. It was easy to access. Had a tent pad, picnic table, fire ring, and stumps for seating.

All in all, we absolutely would stay here again… but would request any site other than T28.

    Roam America Horseshoe Bend

    Calm, neat and welcoming

The reception staff is welcoming and accommodating. Large sites (gently sloped) with picnic table. It's spacious and quiet. Clean pool to cool off in. 3 large modern units for bathrooms, showers (soaps, shampoo and conditioner provided) and washer/dryer. Several washer/dryers need to be fixed but we managed to do our laundry without too much wait at a low cost. Beautiful glamping stay!

    Gouldings RV and Campground

    No shade but very convenient

We visited Memorial Day Weekend. The campground was empty because it was HOT. The campground is a basic dirt field with only a few small trees. We took the site that had trees for shade. Each site had a picnic table and fire pit. The campground has a cute history and fun touristy things to check out... and it's convenience to Monument Valley is superb. Although the views from our site were less than desirable, the rest of the campground offered picturesque scenes of the nearby "monuments."
