Cedar Point Recreation Area

Just over six miles south of places to camp around Buchanan Dam, Cedar Point Recreation Area sits on the shores of Lake Buchanan under Lower Colorado River Authority management. The facility provides nine campsites directly on the water, with sites 1-3 offering more space and privacy while sites 4-9 cluster together on a peninsula. Each site includes a charcoal grill and fire ring, though no electric or water hookups are available.

The campground accommodates drive-in, walk-in, and boat-in access, with a public boat ramp on-site. Campers report low water levels that expose sharp shells along the shoreline, making water shoes necessary for swimming. The single restroom facility serves all sites, and the area maintains cell service coverage. With reservations available and pets welcome, the lakefront location works well for boaters and anglers willing to dry camp.
