    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Pet-friendly camping near Austwell ranges from developed bayfront sites with water and electric hookups to free dispersed camping along the shoreline, giving dog owners flexible options across 95 campgrounds. Goose Island State Park Campground welcomes pets in both its bayfront and wooded camping areas. The park offers water and electric hookups at most sites, with spacious wooded sites providing privacy among Texas Live Oak and Loblolly Pine trees. Bayfront sites allow campers to fish directly from their campsite while keeping dogs on the required 6-foot leash. Magnolia Beach provides a free, pet-friendly dispersed camping option along the shoreline where tents are welcome, though without hookups or formal facilities. Texas Lakeside RV Resort in Port Lavaca offers premium pet-friendly accommodations with concrete pads, full hookups, and a gated entrance for added security.

Multiple walking trails throughout Goose Island State Park create excellent opportunities for dog exercise, though owners should bring plenty of mosquito protection for both themselves and their pets. The fishing pier is accessible to leashed dogs, and the nearby wildlife refuge provides bird watching opportunities where pets must be controlled to protect sensitive wildlife. Bay View RV Resort and Circle W RV Ranch (now Rockport RV Resort by Rjourney) both offer pet-friendly cabin options in addition to RV sites. Temperatures in summer months can be extremely hot and humid, making wooded sites preferable for pets needing shade. Winter months provide more comfortable conditions for dog activities with mild temperatures and fewer insects.

      Serendipity Bay RV Resort

Peaceful but sites too close together

Very well-maintained and pet-friendly RV park with various amenities such as a pool, fishing pier, and dog park. Sites are very close together with little room to set up outside between RVs. Very little room to park vehicle once RV is in place and limited space to back in. Enjoyed the peaceful sunrises and sunsets and the constant breeze was a plus to keep the humidity and heat down. Take plenty of anti-mosquito repellent, as around mid-morning and late afternoon, the mosquitoes come out in force. A good location for those wishing to fish, but not sightseeing. The town has very few amenities and only a couple of restaurants and small stores.

      Southern Oaks Luxury RV Park

Nice, clean place to stay a while.

We stayed for four nights and we enjoyed our stay. The roads and pads were all nice, level concrete.

I didn't see the pool myself, but my wife and daughter enjoyed it while I was at work. The playgrounds were nice, but could use some more shade. Same with the dog park.

The dog water fountains at the dog park were not working, so that would have been nice since it is so hot right now. The dog park is just open space with a fence right now, but the front desk said there are agility features coming soon.

The grass and trees were clean and trimmed, but there are stickers in the grass, so beware stepping off the concrete pad barefoot.

      Brackenridge Park & Campground

      Beautiful lake

Randomly found this campground. There are some shaded spots and some wide open areas. All of the rv area is behind locked gates with codes that change. There is a police car that patrols the area. There are trails, a dog park, the lake, wildlife, an event center up the road, a small ball field and .... Wish I had found this earlier in our travels

Gateway to the Gulf RV Park at Victoria-Port Lavaca

      Cramped

The sites are back-to-back. Not long enough to park both my truck and 5th wheel. I had to park my truck offsite. Concrete parking pad with grassy lawn. Otherwise clean and taken care of. Small laundry room with old machines. Small dog park.

      Gulf Waters RV Resort

      Beautiful Place

It's a great place to stay !!! Staff is nice and very helpful. Showers are clean. Every lot is different and some are very unique !!! I would venture to say that they all have different owners and some are for sale. The best part is the short walk or golf cart ride to the beach and ocean!!! Now for the downside of this place that we have found ! Mosquitoes in the evenings and mornings are intense especially around the ponds and grassy areas. So if you have pets be prepared to get eaten !!! The pet areas are close to the ponds and are small to say the least !!! The pet areas are scattered around the camp sites. Some are close to some of the campers. There are two vacant lots on the very Eastside of the property that are ok. The problem with these are that they have stickers (sand burrs)and if you have small hairy dogs it could be a horrible experience for your pet!!!

There are some full time owners/ residents/ guests. We have found a mix of campers. From the $30 k to the over $500 k plus crowd. Some people are friendly and some are not!!!! There is a private vibe to most of the crowd we feel!!!

You can also rent golf carts and drive them to Port A. You will have to drive them on the beach if you want to go to town on them. They are not allowed on the Highway !!

These are just our opinions and what we have experienced !! Have a great camping experience!!! That is all!!!

      KOA Port Lavaca Matagorda Bay

      Up and Coming!

This New Holiday Campground is really getting off the ground. Staff is amazing and very welcoming. They have great amenities and the campsites are great sized. Facilities are clean and nice upgrades. Laundry on site and machines work really well and its open 24/7. They have a camp store that is really great and well stocked. They are very dog friendly with a dog park and daily trash pick up at your site. The kids loved the pool and us parents enjoyed the hot tub.

      Brackenridge Recreation Complex

A Full Recreation Area with camping

A minimum of water and electric at every site (which we don’t need) The feel is more community park with camping. There is a 12 mile equestrian trail which bikes are allowed to ride on. Other flat trails are around the park and water. It is completely full this Saturday and there are lots of families, music and fires burning. I do not consider this to be a serene wilderness/wildlife area but a Camping area full of activities. Looks like a great place for a family reunion or wedding. Complete with frisbee golf, boating, swimming, dog park, playground and more. The grounds are very well kept.

    Guide to Austwell

Dispersed camping options near Austwell, Texas provide access to coastal wetlands and Gulf Coast beaches. The area sits just 7 feet above sea level with a subtropical climate featuring hot summers where temperatures regularly exceed 90°F from June through September. Winter visitors experience milder conditions with average highs in the 60s and fewer mosquitoes.

    What to do

**Beach fishing: Shore fishing at Magnolia Beach requires no special permits. "We fished, kayaked, and rode our trikes. Every one there is super friendly and it's fairly quiet. You can watch the ships go by, the fish jump, seagulls and sandpipers running around the beach all day," reports Elisha L.

**Birdwatching: The area's proximity to wildlife refuges creates excellent birdwatching opportunities. "Visited in winter for birding. Range of camping facility options, we used the most basic and they were adequate. Amazing sunrises," shares Harry H. from Goose Island State Park Campground.

**Hummingbird migration: Schedule your visit for September to witness hummingbird migration events. "I host the Hummingbird Celebration site now known as Hummer Hill across from 219. This event is the second week of September for the big Hummingbird migration south," notes Traci K. from Bay View RV Resort.

    What campers like

**Free beach camping: Magnolia Beach offers no-cost dispersed camping directly on the shoreline. "This is a BEAUTIFUL beach! You camp right next to the water and can listen to the (gentle) waves all day and night. The beach is really level. There are garbage cans, showers, and pavilions with bbqs," writes Elisha L.

**Privacy in wooded sites: Campers appreciate secluded spots away from crowds. "We really enjoyed staying in the wooded area of the park. Most spaces are very private because of the thick plant life. The beach spots looked cool but we didn't want the noise from the boats as mentioned in other posts," notes Katie B. from Goose Island State Park Campground.

**Clean facilities: Well-maintained grounds make for comfortable stays. "The campground was nice and clean. There is still a lot of damage from the hurricane. I hadn't been there in over ten years and was very surprised at how much the area has changed," reports Peg F. about Goose Island State Park Campground.

    What you should know

**Weather considerations: Summer heat requires preparation. "Hit some big wind 3/21/22. We were in the beach front with waves crashing over so we got luck and moved to the wooded area," shares David N. about his experience at Goose Island State Park Campground.

**Beach conditions: Beaches feature shells rather than fine sand. "The sand is mostly varying sizes of crushed shell so careful walking barefoot," cautions Elisha L. about Magnolia Beach.

**Boat noise: Be prepared for watercraft sounds if staying near the water. "Air boats run all day on the weekends and are loud. Watch out for low tree branches if you're staying in the wooded areas," warns Eric R. about Goose Island State Park Campground.

    Tips for camping with families

**Beach activities: Magnolia Beach offers kid-friendly water access. "A mix of folks RV, car, tent camping! You can drive right on the beach and park feet from the water. Plenty of space on the beach. Pier at the end of the beach if you want to fish," notes Caitlin R.

**Pool access: Some campgrounds offer swimming options for kids. "They have a pool with games for the kids, laundry room, a catch and release fishing pond, and a nice clubhouse equipped with a full kitchen, shower, pool table, games and puzzles," writes Monica C. about Beacon 44 RV Park.

**Kid-friendly waters: Nearby beaches feature shallow, calm water. "King Fisher Beach. This bayside beach is a perfect beach for little kids. We went a couple hundred yards out and were never over waist deep in water. The water is very calm and the beach has plenty of sand," shares Monica C.

    Tips from RVers

**Site selection: Choose carefully based on rig size. "If you're staying in the wooden area, stay on the outer loop if you're a big rig," advises Eric R. regarding Goose Island State Park Campground.

**Full hookup options: Monthly stays provide economical options. "Wintered here Jan, Feb, and Mar 2025. Spend a little more and get a water front site. Concrete pads, nice FHU stations. Large clubhouse. Two shower and laundry facilities," notes James P. about Texas Lakeside RV Resort.

**Pet friendly camping near Austwell: Several campgrounds welcome four-legged visitors. "For only $400/mo, everything included, seems like a bargain," states rspillers84 about Magnolia Beach RV Park, which permits pets and provides Wi-Fi access.
