Best Cabin Camping near Austwell, TX

Several cabin rental options are available in the Rockport area, approximately 30 miles from Austwell, Texas. Bay View RV Resort offers cabin accommodations with electricity, water hookups, and access to clean toilet facilities. The cabins provide basic sleeping arrangements, with on-site amenities including a pool and community center. "The sites are large and tree-shaded, the sites are widely spread apart. The monthly site rate is SO much less than anywhere in Port A," notes one visitor about Bay View's accommodations. Rockport RV Resort by Rjourney (formerly Circle W RV Ranch) also provides cabin rentals with full hookups, alongside market services, picnic tables, and shower facilities.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. KOA Port Lavaca Matagorda Bay offers cabin accommodations with electricity, water, and sewer connections. Most cabins allow pets, though specific pet policies vary by location. "Nice grounds. Stocked fishing pond. Full rv hookups. Winter months bring different occupancy patterns, with some parks like Lagoons RV Resort becoming 55+ communities during winter.

Most cabins require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Basic furnishings typically include beds, tables, and chairs, while kitchen facilities vary widely between properties. Coleto Creek Reservoir and Park offers cabin options with access to drinking water, electric hookups, and fire rings for outdoor cooking. Victoria Coleto Creek Lake KOA provides cabin rentals with access to showers and toilets. Grocery options are limited in immediate campground areas, so guests should plan to bring essential supplies or shop in Rockport, Victoria, or Port Lavaca depending on their cabin location.

    Serendipity Bay RV Resort

Peaceful but sites too close together

Very well-maintained and pet-friendly RV park with various amenities such as a pool, fishing pier, and dog park. Sites are very close together with little room to set up outside between RVs. Very little room to park vehicle once RV is in place and limited space to back in. Enjoyed the peaceful sunrises and sunsets and the constant breeze was a plus to keep the humidity and heat down. Take plenty of anti-mosquito repellent, as around mid-morning and late afternoon, the mosquitoes come out in force. A good location for those wishing to fish, but not sightseeing. The town has very few amenities and only a couple of restaurants and small stores.

    Rockport RV Resort

    Perfect Little Spot

Came across this place while camping at Goose Island State Park in Rockport. Julie is the owner and she is super nice and accommodating. Amenities are endless: laundry, shower, pool, electric hookup, full kitchen, fridge, hot tub, TV and lounge area and lots of shade. Lots of RV spots and a few places to set up tents. Usual rate is 25$ for RVs but Julie was so nice and allowed me to set up a tent and use the park for 15$ for the night. Highly recommend coming here and camping. Located right near town and 5 minutes from the water.

    Texana Park & Campground

    Wildlife, fishing, kayaking

Sites are very spacious, each has its own picnic table on a concrete pad. Lots of privacy, most sites are separated by 15' widths of trees and shrubs which act as a privacy wall. There is a little climbing playground for little ones. Fishing piers and a nature center currently being built and it is going to be huge! We've been here three days and have seen 4 armadillos, 5 squirrels, 7 deer and 1 raccoon. The neighbor said she has camped here 6 times and only seen 1 teeny tiny gator. Only thing missing for my likes is a swimming pool. You can't get into this water, pretty murky and lily pads

    Lagoons RV Resort

    Nice but outdated

We stayed the month of January. It is 55 and older park during the winter months. All concrete roads and sites. The sites are level and very close to each other. We could not put our awning out all the way. Very friendly staff. The only WiFi is at the clubhouse and is slow! You can wash your vehicle and camper at the site for $5-$10. Laundry room has several washers and dryers. Propane is available at the office. Our site was across from the Park Models where two different owners “yelled” at us when our dachshund walked on their small grass area!!!!!!! We will be somewhere different next winter. We love Rockport, Texas. Lots to do.

    KOA Port Lavaca Matagorda Bay

    Nice small RV Park

Port Lavaca KOA Review Rating: 5 stars.  I recently spent a few days at the Port Lavaca KOA, and overall, it was a great experience with just a couple of minor drawbacks.

    Location and Ambiance:

The KOA is situated in a remote and quiet area, perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The peaceful atmosphere made it easy to relax and unwind. I particularly enjoyed the serene surroundings; it's a fantastic spot for fishing, and I was able to catch some great fish right from the shore and pier.

    Accommodations and Service:

One of the highlights of my stay was the generous upgrade to my site at no extra charge! The staff were friendly and accommodating, which definitely enhanced my experience. I appreciated their willingness to go the extra mile to ensure I had a pleasant stay.

    Fishing:

If you're into fishing, this spot is a dream! The waters are teeming with fish, and I spent several enjoyable hours casting lines and reeling in my catches. It was great to have such easy access to fishing right from the campground. As a bonus a pod of dolphins visited the site in the evening adding to the atmosphere.

    Drawbacks:

The only issues I encountered were related to the journey and the campsite itself. The road leading to the KOA was a bit rough in places, which can be a concern if you’re towing a trailer or driving a low-clearance vehicle. At the time the roads were being worked on, so maybe its better now.  Additionally, the sites along the water can feel a bit tight, making it difficult for larger RVs to maneuver comfortably. If you're planning to stay in one of these spots, be prepared for a close quarters experience. On the plus side I made friends with the neighbors easily.  Also I did choose to take the upgrade from a much bigger site, just to have the water in your back yard.

    Final Thoughts:

Despite the minor inconveniences, I would recommend the Port Lavaca KOA to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with excellent fishing opportunities. The friendly service and beautiful surroundings more than make up for the rough road. I left feeling refreshed and eager to plan my next visit!

    KOA Port Lavaca Matagorda Bay

    Find somewhere else to stay

Find yourself somewhere else to stay! Beyond displeased with this place.$77/night for gravel parking and horrible road to get to this location. The place has potential, but I don't ever being worth what they're asking for short term stays. The kayak rentals are$25/hr and the water trikes are$45/hr. The pickleball court did not even have a net up. Grounds were not kept up. Mowing appeared to take place every 2 weeks and made mosquitos worse of problem because of it. The long term rentals were also complaining about the mowing not taking place enough. That seemed odd to us because there seemed to be plenty of staff on site to take care of those basic needs. We left early and they would not even adhere to their own 48 hr cancelation policy.
