Olivet Park provides basic camping access along the James River, though spring flooding regularly impacts facilities and site conditions. The municipal campground features 15 and 30 amp electrical connections at one location, with a large turnaround area in the back corner suitable for short-term camping setups. A boat ramp offers river access for anglers and paddlers.

The park sits adjacent to a busy highway, creating consistent traffic noise throughout most stays. Recent flood damage has left the pit toilet facility unusable, and overall site maintenance remains limited. A short walking trail provides some recreation beyond the water access. Campers should plan for basic conditions and consider this primarily as an overnight stop rather than a destination stay, particularly given the ongoing flood recovery challenges.

Flood waters have ravished this park

There is little left of this park. After each spring flood, they clean it up, but there is not much there any longer. They do have 15 and 30 amp connections in one location. Pit toilet remains destroyed due to floods. In the back corner of the park is a large area to turn around in and set up a short stay camp.

A boat ramp is available. A short walking trail is also available.

This is located next to a busy highway, and it is noisy with traffic much of the time we were there.

Bare by the river

A very small park that features a boat ramp to the river. About a dozen unkempt sites more suited for tents and pop ups. No hookups nor bathroom.
