This is my favorite spot for taking it in, and getting back to nature. Bussey Point is a no frills campground. If you are looking for luxurious amenities, and a pristine restroom facility, this is not the place for you. Bussey Point is primitive camping at it's best. Btw, watch out for the horse poop!✌
Have waited six months into our RV life to start reviews for fair comparisons. Spent 7 nights. Our second ACE campground and liked it even more than the first. Large spread out campground so could bike and hike right in and from the park. Mountain bike trails in either direction just at the park entrance. Our site like most was right on the lake, and because we were out on more of a peninsula had great sunsets.
This is a typical state park, not exciting, but mostly quiet.
The road going into the campground is horrible if you are towing a camper and full of potholes but is manageable. We are tent campers, so this didn’t affect us.
We tent camped in site #1, and the park was full this weekend. There are only 25 spots here, so it fills regularly. Our site was mostly level.
We did have a group of about 10,000 scouts camp right behind us in the group site. This never bothers us, it’s always good to see kids out in nature. They were mostly quiet for such a large group.
The bathroom / shower house is centrally located in the middle of the loop that the campground is arranged into. It was clean and had plenty of hot water.
They do lock the gate at night, so if you are arriving late, call for the code to the lock on the gate. We made it before the gate closed, but the ranger did call us while on the road (we live about 2 hrs away) to see if we needed the code.
Nothing much to do here as far as we saw, but that’s why we camped here this time. Just sat and read while enjoying the weather.
We had site 32 right on the water, this site is a little tight but the scenery totally makes up for it, although the sites are not on top of each other just this particular site is close to the street and is a tight squeeze for anything I would say over 26ft. We absolutely will be back to this well kept piece of heaven
We loved it here! The park was very clean and there were not many people. Our kids loved exploring the water, biking, the fun playgrounds and the little free libraries. This was a fun campsite-very clean and kind camp hosts! We will be back!
We were at site 25, I’d recommend the other loop further on the island. We were right by the bridge and I’d prefer not seeing cars fly by even from a distance but other than that, we loved it!
