Barnyard RV Park in Lexington features spacious pull-through sites with full hookups including water, electric, and sewer connections. Heritage RV Park in Augusta, Georgia, approximately 30 miles west of Edgefield, maintains level sites with 50-amp service and sanitary dump facilities. Many parks offer a combination of back-in and pull-through sites, with gravel being the most common surface type for RV pads in the region.

      Mistletoe State Park Campground

Gorgeous and Tranquil in the Woods

This place was so perfect and our first camping experience with our new 40 foot RV! Check-in was easy and they even let us change to a pull-through site last minute. The grounds were sooooo gorgeous! Trees everywhere. Walking trails. And of course the lake. We went during fall colors so it was really magical.

PROS: Clean restrooms, spacious RV sites (they felt very private), many bathhouses within walking distance, friendly staff, nice gift shop

CONS: wet firewood and of course you had to buy from them, playground very small- made more for toddlers/preschool age, less than 5 years old, long walk to the dumpsters

Petersburg - J Strom Thurmond Lake

      Beautiful campsites

This campground has magnificent views, spacious sites, picnic tables, firepits, power (30 and 50 amp) and water hookups, dump station, bathrooms, and groomed swimming area.

The site (21) was very easy to pull through and had a wonderful view of the lake. I had to try to see my neighbors at the next site because the foliage separated the sites well. I saw a grounds person actively maintaining the empty sites which explains how well kept this campground is. The access roads are well kept.

      Very nice place !

This place has some great sites. Our site was #25. It was a pull through with 30 and 50 amp plugs. It’s a level lot with a grill, fire ring, picnic table and another small table. It’s right on the lake. There is a retaining wall at the water so it’s about a 3” step to the water. We plan to bring a sep ladder next time. Beautiful place to spend your time camping.

      Woodsmoke Family Campground

      Overnight Stop

Ok for overnight stop but wouldn't be a travel destination. Most sites seem to be long term or permanent sites. Very close to neighbor site, with fire pit being extremely close. Water, Sewer, Power, WiFi

      Hamilton Branch State Park Campground

Great spacious site on the water, lots of privacy

We arrived at last light, and I am glad that we had daylight while we backed in. Lovely site, spacious. Sites 98 & 99  T off the connector road. Layout it such that your RV is parallel to the road, overlooking the water which is 80- 100 feet away. Your neighbors are a fair distance away, but your head and tail of the RV points to them- so once inside you're not even aware of them. We are 30 foot fifth wheel with F250, and i imagine the back-in would have been more challenging if 99 was occupied.  Nice family oriented park. Water and electric all good, dump station on way out.

Did not use facilities, but apparently showers and toilets are a little drive away.

Wood: We drove out of the park, turned left and found an honor-system wood kiosk on parallel road - just over the railroad tracks. $5 for a small bundle, but it was worth it to us.

      Leveling was not an issue.

Hosts keep site nice and clean,

Data: Visible worked great (25 mbs up & down, so no need to break out hotspots, Starlink etc

      Aiken State Park Campground

      Amazing Find!

We stayed over on our way to Charleston, SC. We booked it online. We had no hookeups, but water and a dump station is available. There are hiking trails, canoeing, and fishing. The ranger was super friendly and they are pet friendly. We had to switch sites when we arrived due to a space issue. We have a 32’ RV and the site stated a max of 35’ but there was a tent pad that would have interfered with us being level. We were allowed to switch with no issues.

Another great COE campground We love this place

This time we’re in site 7-first time in this loop. Backing in took a few minutes, not the simplest but achievable for our 30 ft fifth wheel. Campsite excellent- electric & water, plenty big site-fire ring and picnic table

Also love trail from here to dam wall - did a bit of bush trail cycling. Awesome

    Guide to Edgefield

RV camping options near Edgefield, South Carolina provide access to the Savannah River Basin and surrounding lakes. The area experiences hot summers with temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F and mild winters with occasional freezing temperatures at night. Many campgrounds in this region offer waterfront access to Clarks Hill Lake (also called Lake Thurmond), one of the largest man-made lakes east of the Mississippi River covering 71,000 acres.

    What to do

Water sports on Clarks Hill Lake: Visitors staying at Pointes West Army Resort can enjoy swimming, boating and fishing directly from the campground. "Sites L, M, and N are all on a little peninsula that sticks out into Clarks Hill Lake, and are our personal favorites!" reports Jason L.

Urban exploration in Augusta: Located 30 miles from Edgefield, Augusta offers several cultural attractions. "We also did a narrated canal boat tour which was very informative and entertaining," writes a visitor about their stay at Heritage RV Park, who also recommends "visiting the U.S Army Signal Corps Museum at Fort Gordon and the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area Interpretive Center downtown."

Local shopping at flea markets: The weekend flea market next to Barnyard RV Park attracts bargain hunters. "They have a large flea market next door," notes Scott M., making this location convenient for campers interested in browsing local vendors.

    What campers like

Quiet waterfront camping: Campers at Moon Landing Campground appreciate the peaceful setting on Lake Greenwood. "Good place to relax and enjoy the water," says Michael Y., though another reviewer notes there's "no fishing and no swimming" permitted at this particular site.

Clean facilities: Many RV parks maintain well-kept grounds and facilities. At Sandy Oak RV Park, guests can find "shower, bathroom and laundry" facilities according to Ellen A., who needed "a quick stop for the night" and found the park "great at accommodating us."

Convenient locations: Proximity to highways makes several rv sites near Edgefield, South Carolina practical for overnight stays. "The park is close to I-20 and I-520 so there is easy on/off and it is a great place for an overnight if you are just traveling thru," notes one camper about Heritage RV Park.

    What you should know

Limited amenities at some parks: Many campgrounds offer basic services without extra features. "This is a clean well-cared RV park that is a nice place to stay but a bit of a no-frills park," writes a reviewer about Heritage RV Park.

Weather considerations: Summer heat can be intense in this region, while spring and fall offer milder temperatures. A camper at Pointes West Army Resort reported: "Ants can be a huge problem though during the summer."

Connectivity varies: Internet access can be inconsistent between campgrounds. At Plum Branch RV Park, one guest tested various service providers and found: "I was right under a WiFi antennae, and managed a 4.5meg download and 4.48 upload... Verizon: 44.9dn, 1.88 up... T-mobile mifi: no 4g nor 5G service."

    Tips for camping with families

Recreation options: Families should research entertainment options when selecting rv sites near Edgefield. Sandy Oak RV Park offers "swimming pond, paddle boats, fishing & playground" according to Nick & Allyssa S.

Site selection for privacy: Choose sites away from high-traffic areas for a better family experience. At Barnyard RV Park, a reviewer notes camping there was "great for passing through but you won't see me there again" because "spots were very close together."

Kid-friendly activities: Some campgrounds have limited facilities for children. About Heritage RV Park, one camper observed: "There is nothing for kids to do here so be advised the gravel becomes a toy! It was great for a night stay."

    Tips from RVers

Big rig considerations: Large motorhome owners should confirm site dimensions before booking. At Carolina Hill Mobile Home and RV Park, Bobbie S. reported "large sites" and mentions "zero road noise" making it ideal for overnight stays.

Site surface variations: Surface types differ significantly between parks, affecting leveling and setup. At Plum Branch RV Park, Kevin H. observed the "newish pad was still soft but pretty level" and noted "sewer pipes stick out a good 6 or 8 inches."
