Smaller Supercenter w/ Good, Limited Parking

Anchoring the Richland Crossings shopping plaza just off Route 309, this Walmart Supercenter shares the surrounding area with fellow retailers like TJ Maxx, Home Goods, GNC, Verizon and Xfinity. This place sits so close to the main thoroughfare running through here that you won’t even really need to be on the look out for it as this shopping mecca is really just about the only and biggest thing on this otherwise unremarkable strip mall of shops and restaurants.

Should you find yourself in the surrounding area of Quakertown here in a quaint part of Dutch County and on the hunt for an excellent slice of pavement to layover for the night, this Walmart is very good with excellent, newly poured asphalt that is quite level, which given that you are in PA isn’t the most difficult slope to find. Add to this that this Walmart bumps up against a plethora of nearby gas stations as well as other shopping and dining options, this is either an attraction or might make you think even harder as to whether you want to be located next to all of this in-and-out traffic, although while we were there, the traffic really wasn’t all that heavy at all. In fact, this particular Walmart feels more like the smaller neighborhood markets than it does an actual supercenter.

The best area to lay-up is either on the southern or northern flanks, that puts you furthest away from both storefront as well as the trickling flow of traffic coming off of 309. Given its smaller size, this Walmart offers up stress-free parking in a fairly rural setting with excellent lighting, impeccably clean restrooms and very friendly staff. You will take note that the place is surrounded by a residential area with decent growth and forests, adding to the natural ambiance you will be surrounded by as well as a decent dose of peace& quiet.

While scoring criteria may vary from one person to the next, here are the 5 most important criteria that informed my rating of this overnight location: convenience (EZ on- and off-access), safety & security, quality (of facilities), peace & quiet and amenities (either on-site or nearby). Here’s how I ranked this particular overnight spot:

Convenience: 4

Safety & Security: 5

Quality: 4

Peace & Quiet: 4

Amenities: 3

Overall, I scored this location a 4.

Happy Overnighting!
