COE Pat Mayse Lake Pat Mayse Park East

    Pat Mayse East Campground

I found this campground through a US army core website, and the details at that website did not turn out to be very accurate. Both loops at Pat Mayse East Campground showed to have bathrooms, which I assumed meant flush toilets and sinks, since the map also had an icon for vault toilets and this was not used. Both loops actually do have vault toilets and no running water. The campground seems set up pretty well for RVs; there were a lot of rv hookups for water and electric. There are also basic tent sites, picnic tables and metal fire rings. Water spigots are placed throughout so access is not difficult. You have your choice of sunny areas or more forested. Some spots are tightly packed in, but others are on the outside of the loop and seem like they'd be pretty quite. I wasn't overly impressed on the whole.

Nice, quiet place to get away.

This place is awesome, quiet, The they have two different trails to walk on.  The RV spaces are further apart than your average RV Park.  What really sets this place apart is the Managers, They go out of their way to treat you like you are welcome.  I will be going back.

    Would score 5 stars!

This is an awesome lake, the campground would score 5 stars but they don’t have full hookup’s! This is a large campground, lots of room between sites! Good place to go for a family camping spot! Shade and level sites! Great for fishing, kayaking, riding bikes!

    Antlers RV Park

    Clean and quiet

We stayed at this park with two other couples while we were in town for the Pine Mountain atv trails. This park appears to be more of a full-timer park rather than a “campground” park, but it worked out well for us for the weekend. It was easy to get to, very quiet and well maintained. There is laundry facilities on site, though we didn’t utilize them. Full hook-ups. It’s located in town, so there is quick and easy access to provisions if you need anything.

Lake Texoma State Park — Lake Texoma State Resort Park

Crowded but it didn't feel that way

Lake Texoma State Park has a few different campgrounds. We stayed at Catfish Bay for a quick little weekend getaway.

The campground was nice, quiet, and clean. There were a lot of families and about 50/50 RVs and tents, although most of the tents were in a separate area further down the peninsula.

The RV section has both full hookups and water/electric hookups. The prettiest sites are the ones without sewer, and the next time we go for just a weekend we'll pick one of those. Most of the RV sites have nice, level concrete pads (except the one we choose ... spot 11 ... crushed granite). The full hookup sites are packed in like a row of dominoes but there's plenty of room for awnings and slide-outs.

The park has a marina where you can get ice, beverages, chips, etc. You can also rent boats and tubes for the day.

All-in-all it was a nice weekend and we will probably go back.

    Filthy old trailers

Drove thru today to see what it's like. Um...no! Mostly old trailers that no one else will allow in their rv park because of age or condition. It's downright a trash hole that allows people to litter and trash all around their place. Clearly it's people who live here regularly and not travelers. No traveler thru the area would stay here. It's unkempt!

Brand New RV Park in N Texas

Hidden Grove is a brand new RV park just east of Honey Grove in north Texas. I spent a night here just to get out during the virus lockdown. The sites are paved and ready to go. WiFi still needs to be setup but cell coverage works. Give them a few months and this is going to be a great RV Park.

Quiet and secure- great place for extended stay

Nice level pads, full hookups and a view of the river. Gated security, general store, propane and shower houses. Lots of golf carts and full timers.

Worth the price if you are looking for full hookup and a quiet spot but still pricey by the night.

River access is frowned upon. They have a playground and dog area I believe too but did not use.

Great stop for a night or two

This RV park was a great stopping point for our travels back east.

The grounds are off a somewhat busy route, so if parked in front row you can head cars a little bit it’s not bad.

The spots are all paved with a nice sectioned off patio spot. There seem to be some more permanent rvs here

It was very quiet during the day and even in the evening. There’s no tree coverage really so the spots are pretty open but they have a fair amount of spacing in between each spot for some privacy

    Felt very safe here

    The fixtures are new too

Would def come back for another night or two if making my way west again

About an hours drive to Dallas

Chad the general manager was around walking the grounds. He came over to say hi and let us know even though the general store is closed, we could find on the grounds or use a number listed to call him. We were a little late on checkout but he came over to say no rush and let us know about the 3 mile hiking trail he has around the property!

    Great place to stop.

Full hookups, level lot and extremely friendly staff that went above and beyond for us for our short stay. It is right near the road so it’s not very quiet, but there’s not much anyone can do about that. Conveniently located near a small grocery store and a few restaurants. Would not hesitate to stop over for a few days again.

    West Lake Crockett

    Unimpressive...

This is a unique park without any fan fair from what is called a National anything. Coincidentally this is a National Grassland area and looked to be ran by the forest service with the similar campground organization. This particular are looked like it hasn't been taken care of since it was constructed. The bathrooms were in disrepair, buildings and infrastructure were falling down a little bit and it looked like rangers hadn't visited in some time. If you RV camp, this could be a decent stop over for a night and you like to fish. There weren't any hookups for RV's but the price of $4 a night can't be beat. There were a few tables and fire pits sprinkled around the area but no formal sites other than that from what I could tell.

    K River Campground

    What a great find!

Staff were amazing. So helpful and so friendly. The campground is a work in progress but they are doing a great job. The rv spots are shaded. Electric and water but no sewer if you’re close to the river which we were. The cabins are adorable and their general store was so cute! They have a community kitchen anyone can use! The river was low but very enjoyable. The only annoyance were the multitude of ATVs using the campground roads and the river bed instead of sticking to the ATV trails (and there are lots of them). Our particular neighbors didn’t acknowledge 11pm quiet time but everyone else did. Overall we will definitely be back soon!

    COE Hugo Lake Kiamichi Park

    Boat and RV campground

As a tent camper this place has very little appeal. The sites are mostly in the sun located on a peninsula that juts into Hugo lake. We were here on a cool September day and still found the sites pretty miserable for what we look for. The pads are all set for RVs leaving little room for a tent and at that nothing very level. The park was maintained but run down and in desperate need of updating. There is no way I would camp here in the summer. There may be some better tent sites but two Spurs were closed leaving only one open.

    One of best campsites ever

Burns Run West COE on Lake Texoma is one of the nicest campgrounds we've stayed at. We were in the wooded campground across the street from the lake with concrete pads, shaded sites, nice spacing between sites, and full hookups. Whoever designed this campground did a great job. Campsites along the lake had great views, but were much closer together. I didn't use the restrooms. I was only here overnight, but would have liked to stay longer and have an opportunity to paddle on the lake.

    RV Camping in the Woods

This spot was awesome. The RV spots were not traditionally laid out in rows. Sporadic spots in between trees made it feel like a true camping experience. The owners were amazing and had the pleasure of speaking with them each day we were there, made it feel like we were family. Only reason I give it 4 stars, is for the lack of sewer accommodations, the dump station is a slight inconvenience if you’re staying in lot A.

    Lake Bonham Recreation Area

Such a Beautiful Family Friendly Campground

For our first RV camping trip of 2018 we took a short drive north to Bonham State Park right outside of Bonham, Texas. This great little Texas State Park was constructed by the CCC back in the 30's. There are plenty of things for a family to do while camping at Bonham State Park! Hiking, fishing, boat rental and best of all Smors cooked over a roaring camp fire! At every Texas Stae Park you can check out fishing equipment from the front office and you do not have to have a fishing license! Bonham State Park takes the fishing to a whole new level by providing boats so you can get out to where the fish are hiding! Bonham State Park is a great place to take the family for a long weekend of camping fun as it is just a short 45 min drive north of the DFW metroplex!

A truly great place to camp, relax, catch some fish and just get away!

Located on the south shore of Pat Mayse Lake is the beautiful Corps Of Engineer campground Sanders Cove Recreation Area. This three loop campground is nestled among stunning trees and is a wonderful place to RV camp.

With two boat ramps you will have no issues putting your boat in the water. The swim area was kinda dull but better than nothing.

    Blue River Camp

    Pleasant Surprise!😃

When I arrived at the location to which my GPS directed me, I was a little concerned that there was just a building with bathrooms and three large dumpsters off to the side.

If I had a been brave enough to drive my little Mustang down the gravel path that was on the opposite side of the road leading away from the restrooms, I would have found waterfront campsites along the Blue River, large boulder, formations to climb, and beautiful views.

What I did, though, was continue down the road I had a been on and found a large dirt parking lot. There were fire pits and designated camping set up along one side of the parking lot, which seemed a little weird.

There was a gravel road on the opposite side of the parking lot that led to the RV camping and a couple of tent sites along that road, so I chose one. The campsite was secluded with several paths that lead down to the river.

What I found to be the best part of this area was Hughes Crossing! It’s a waterfall that you can drive over. I did not attempt this in the mustang, but watched several trucks easily pass over.

Not only is there a beautiful little waterfall that also substitutes as a bridge, but the area is perfect for swimming. There is a bit of green algae, but it is otherwise clear and refreshing.

The only downside was the amount of trash that people had left. I think I might make it a new goal to try to carry out at least one or two grocery bags worth of other people’s trash so that I can hopefully leave places better than I found them.

    Blue River Campground

Can be good depending on time of year

My husband and I come here to enjoy some good ‘ol fashion camping. He especially likes this place because he is able to go trout fishing in the river next to the campsite. The only thing that this campground does not have is electric hook ups and there are only a few restrooms that are dispersed throughout the place. So depending where you stay, you might have to walk a ways to get to a restroom. It can also get pretty busy during the trout season and whenever they host trout derbies.
