      Outstanding site in great campground

Stayed on a premium patio site and loved it. The campground and staff were awesome. Level site, great hook ups, awesome WiFi and cable. Clean facilities, 3 lakes (one with a fishing pier), 2 dog parks, and super friendly staff. 30 min to Cleveland. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants within 5 miles. Just off Ohio Turnpike, but can't hear it. Definitely recommend this KOA

      Silver Springs Campground

Great for the price and location

Stayed here to be close to the NP and it is a great little campground for a reasonable price. Big dog park with pond on the other side of the park. Sites are uneven but my favorite part was the wooded path.

      Nice campground near Cuyahoga

We were in the area exploring Cuyahoga Nat Park and found Silver Springs. It was 18$ for a site with electric hook ups (15$ if you are a Stow resident) No option for no paying less for no hook-up camping. Water close by and port a pottie style bathrooms close to the camp sites. There are flush toilets a walk away but we didn’t use them. Sites are big and grassy but not super level. Wasn’t a big issue for us but could be for a bigger camper. The campground was calm and quiet. Lots of trails close by. Dog park down the street as well as a play ground and fishing pond! We had a great few days staying here and will be back if we are even passing thru Stow again.

      Silver Springs Campground

      Lots of options!

We really loved this little spot! It appealed to all of what we were looking for, our camp host was awesome. There was even a dog park within walking distance- a lot of trails to explore too. No showers and the Porto potties weren't the cleanest... But they were functional. Very hospitable locals- we were invited to a square dancing party that evening in the park! Very comfy and safe.

      Silver Springs Campground

      Great parking

The bathrooms are portojons and there are no showers, however there is THE best dog park I have ever seen in this area. So my dogs loved this campground more than me and that was worth it. It was dark enough to see a space station cross the sky at night. The camping spaces are rather close, but so many people want to camp there, because of its proximity to everything amazing.

    Guide to Sheffield Lake

Findley State Park Campground is located 20 miles south of Sheffield Lake with 838 acres of wooded areas. The park offers numerous trails through mature forests of maple, ash, hickory and oak trees. Winter temperatures average 22-34°F while summer temperatures range from 62-82°F, making it suitable for camping from April through October.

    What to do

Fishing opportunities: Willow Lake Park Inc offers a dedicated fishing lake separate from their swimming area. "Long established campground with daily activities for all ages. Fishing lake and swimming lake are separate," notes Jack K., highlighting the thoughtful layout for different water activities.

Beach activities: East Harbor State Park Campground provides access to Lake Erie shoreline for water recreation. "The campground is right on the shore of Lake Erie, there are a few restaurants nearby," mentions Michi P., who appreciated the lakeside location just 30 miles from Sheffield Lake.

Historical exploration: Campers can visit nearby Kelleys Island, accessible by ferry from Marblehead, which features glacial grooves and historical sites. "The island alone gives this place it's glory and stars! How awesome that we can be in the middle of a thriving metropolis that is Cleveland in the morning, and off some topical Isle without a care in the world by happy hour," reports Jenny K.

    What campers like

Clean facilities: American Wilderness Campground receives positive feedback for maintenance. "Beautiful clean serene park with absolutely stunning beach views at sunset. Also the park has older shower and bathrooms however there always clean and well taken care of every few hours staff cleaning!" reports Andrew V.

Family activities: Timber Ridge Campgrounds offers amenities for children just 15 miles from Sheffield Lake. "This campground was clean and the staff was friendly. We only stayed one night but had a pretty sight by the pond. The park seemed to be mostly seasonal campers," writes Stacy E., highlighting the family-friendly atmosphere.

    What you should know

Reservation timing: Popular campgrounds fill quickly, especially during summer months. "Very nice, comfortable campground, kids loved it. Only downfall is trying to find an open spot for reservations. Place is booked most of the time. If you're planning a holiday weekend you need to book 6 months in advance," advises Jeffrey L.

Water quality variations: Some campgrounds near Sheffield Lake have issues with water quality. "I'm not sure what's up with the water, but it smells like metal and you're probably better off bringing your own drinking water," reports Derek N. at Willow Lake Park.

Overnight conveniences: Vermilion Valley Ohio Turnpike RV Lot provides basic amenities for those traveling through the area. "Clean with electric hookup got $20. Dump station as you exit. Gas and convenience items are extra helpful. Safe environment to snooze overnight," mentions Susan B., highlighting its practical benefits.

    Tips for camping with families

Swimming options: Several campgrounds offer dedicated swimming areas for children. "We loved the beach and the fun we have had this is our favorite place to camp and we love this family local owned business because they love making people happy and it shows," states Mallory N. about American Wilderness Campground.

Playground access: Kelleys Island State Park Campground includes recreational areas for children. "The campground has a beach and playground. You can also purchase wood. Yurts are available for rent," shares Erin H., noting multiple amenities that appeal to families.

Educational opportunities: Nature centers provide learning experiences for young campers. "Great hiking, wonderful nature center on site with some planned activities to participate in," explains Sheri S. about East Harbor State Park, mentioning the educational components available.

    Tips from RVers

Level sites: Timber Ridge provides well-maintained spaces for larger rigs. "We stayed at Timber Ridge for a month and found this to be a very nice campground. Stores are very level, full hookups, fishing pond, amazing indoor swimming pool. Staff was extremely nice," reports The Wandering Shores.

Overnight convenience: Middle Ridge/Vermilion Valley Rest Area offers practical amenities for those passing through. "Hook up, dump station, quiet and immaculate rest stop ad well. This is a test area on the Ohio Turnpike. Rv owners can self pay $20 to stay overnight," explains Kat I., highlighting the straightforward services.

Site selection strategy: Choosing the right location within a campground impacts experience. "The key is site selection at East Harbor...we happened to be in section C which was a newer section of the park. Section C was nice, though in hot sunny days there is very little shade to protect you," advises Mark S.
