These rentals range from primitive structures with minimal amenities to deluxe accommodations featuring electricity, private bathrooms, and small kitchenettes. Many rental cabins remain accessible into late fall with some locations offering year-round availability during winter months.
What to do
Fishing at multiple lakes: West Branch State Park Campground offers excellent fishing opportunities around the 2,650-acre reservoir with numerous coves and inlets. "We can launch our kayaks right from our campsite. There are many inlets to explore or fish," notes Alisa G., who visits annually.
Explore hiking trails: The area features several scenic paths suitable for different ability levels. At West Branch State Park Campground, "There are many scenic hiking trails. Bridal trails are located on Esworthy Rd," shares Alisa G. The park maintains trails that connect to other recreational areas.
Swimming options: Many cabin locations provide swimming access from late May through early September. Kool Lakes Family RV Park offers both a swimming lake and separate fishing lake with cabin rentals situated near the water. "Our lot (a24) was right on water. Our kids age 4 and 8 fished from sun up Saturday to about noon," reports Joe F.
Mini golf and outdoor games: Several campgrounds include recreational activities beyond water features. "Jellystone Akron-Canton has a really nice mini golf course! It's free for campers but the public can come and pay to play," explains Dawn R., noting that the campground loans games and sports equipment to guests.
What campers like
Clean, modern facilities: The cabin camping areas typically maintain well-kept amenities. At Countryside Campground, "The bathrooms were clean, the showers were nice and the pool was well kept. Each site comes with a fire ring and picnic table both in good condition," reports Kathryn P.
Water recreation options: The combination of lake access and water features makes cabins appealing during summer months. "The swimming pond has inflatables and boat rentals. There's good fishing, and typically lots of activities," notes James S. about Woodside Lake Park.

Proximity to attractions: Cabin locations provide convenient access to regional points of interest. "We stopped here for a couple nights to go to a Cleveland Guardians game and go to Cuyahoga National Park. It was within great proximity to both," explains Jennifer H. about her stay at Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA.
What you should know
Cabin amenity variations: Facilities differ significantly between locations. At Roundup Lake RV Resort, some guests rent "The Park Model Cabin which was sort of a half trailer with a full bathroom and full kitchen," though Evangelyne D. notes "The bed was the only detractor of our trip, as it was mostly springs."
Early reservations essential: Peak season cabins book quickly, especially waterfront options. "Make reservations! (6 months in advance). Waterside sites fill up quickly!" advises a West Branch camper.
