Lots of privacy and amenities

This was a great campsite. We stayed in a tent electric site and it wasn’t really woodsy but it had a nice little privacy fence and was in great shape. Perfect for car campers. The primitive sites looked much more woodsy, I might have chosen that instead of a hookup site if I had known, but its…

Fall camping at Mortimer

Beautiful, clean grounds with access to a 1/2 mile round trip hike to a waterfall on the property! Definitely plan ahead on provisioning bc it’s about 45 mins drive into the national forrest. Definitely will be going back!

Nice campground for hiking, historic buildings nearby and a great camp store. Lots of regulars it seems. Sites are close but not a negative. Lots of loud neighbors the weekend that we were there. Beautiful water areas, great places to take photographs lots of friendly people. Our site was private…

Great stay

This was our second trip to bear den and we love it more each time. This is a great park, spacious sites for campers. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Couldn't think of anyway to make this a better campground.

First time camping

I LOVED bear den campgrounds, everyone was so nice and accommodating! We knew it was gonna rain but the last night we stayed it was gonna be none stop rain so we upgraded to a cabin and they were so kind!!! The waterfall was breathtaking and the hikes were hard which made me excited that it wasn’t…

Right by the ding dang highway, but the folks were nice!

This is definitely a spot for folks who want to camp for cheap and spend their time NOT IN THE CAMPGROUND. Go explore Asheville!

This location is separated from a major highway only by 40 feet or so, so there was constant car noise. Their tent camping has little to no tree cover so we were…

Good for all ages!

Camp site was very clean and well taken care of on arrival. Mark and Esther were always available if any questions arose and were also very helpful with things around the area to do that were both for experienced hikers and for those with kids. WiFi was perfect near the parking lot. Bathrooms and…

Serene

This was our first visit to this campground and we loved it! We were in the area for a golf tournament. Sites are spacious and fairly level. There are options for folks who don’t have an RV: yurts, tiny houses, vintage trailers, and small cabins. Staff is very friendly and there’s lots for kids to…

Excellent campsite

We stayed 2 nights at this campground and we were throughly impressed. The campsite we had was large and well kept, and was located right by the bath house. The bathroom facilities were very clean and made the stay much easier, especially since we were camping with kids. We will definitely be back!

Favorite Campground

Had to take the long road to get home and did not waste an opportunity to stay at my favorite campground. As a walk in you pay $20/night for an available non-reservable campsite. C Loop has showers and D Loop does not. Bears were active but did not bother me in the least. I could hear them turning…

All about the Ambiance

We found this RV Park to be dreamy, the sounds of the creek were very relaxing listening from our private deck. The grounds are immaculate and lit with beautiful lights at night. The bathrooms were immaculate and the camp store and firewood delivery is very convenient. I sat in the creek in my…

Relaxing Campground

We found this place one weekend by chance, have stayed twice now and love it. Wonderful family owned place, who also work do most of the work there and are very helpful. Our 12 year old son loves the pool and being able to ride his electric bike around the campground. The host does a great job…

New to the area and I will be back

I went mountain biking from the campground and had an awesome stay. The river was nice to have close to the site and it was a fun spot to stay. I have a rooftop tent and it opened up easily in the site I stayed and it looked like you wouldn’t have an issue in most of the car sites there for…
