Several RV parks surround Richfield, North Carolina, providing convenient bases for motorhome travelers. Lake Myers RV Resort in Mocksville offers full hookup sites with 30/50 amp service from April through November, accommodating big rigs on gravel pads. Cobble Hill RV Campground in Salisbury features 84 sites with full hookups, including both 30 and 50 amp electrical connections, and maintains big rig friendly access roads. Bass Lake, also in Salisbury, provides water, sewer, and electrical hookups with 50 amp service for larger motorhomes. Thousand Trails Forest Lake in Advance operates year-round with big rig friendly sites and complete hookups. "Sites were gravel, not all level, but not too bad. Full hook-ups, picnic table and fire pit," noted one RV camper about similar facilities in the region.

Cell service varies significantly between rv parks, with Verizon generally providing adequate coverage for remote work needs, though streaming can be spotty in some locations. Many rv campgrounds in the area maintain sanitary dump stations, with most full hookup sites including sewer connections directly at the site. Pet policies differ between facilities - most welcome pets but enforce leash requirements and designated pet areas. Seasonal availability impacts reservation needs, with year-round parks like Salem Breeze RV Park in Winston-Salem offering more flexibility than seasonal operations. Propane refill services are available at select locations, particularly at larger rv resorts with on-site stores. One traveler mentioned that "the roads are sooo narrow" at Lake Myers, highlighting the importance of checking access conditions before arrival, especially for larger motorhomes and fifth wheels.

Deep River Campground And RV Park

Stopped here after our fiasco with holly bluff. Beautiful campground with trees. Very quiet during the day and peaceful. The only thing we found curious was the vehicle in and right back out activity between 10:30-pm and 1am back and forth to campers that were long term stays. Made nighttime hard to sleep in site 3 with vehicles back and forth for hours .

      Holly Bluff Family Campground

Stopped in to get a spot for a few nights nights because it said they had available rv spots Unfortunately they didn’t know which end was up and tried to squeeze us into a spot that might have hookups that maybe worked but they couldn’t be sure. It was a joke. We left after waiting several minutes waiting while they were looking for a place to maybe squeeze us in because we had a small camper. No thanks. Would not recommend staying here til they get there act together

      Cane Creek Park

      Feels like a home.

When I’m traveling through the area, I do my best to stay here. It is a peaceful and well kept campground. It is an adult and a kid friendly environment. It’s one of the few places you can feel safe. I highly recommend this place.

Deep River Campground And RV Park

New Owners, making lots of noticeable changes for your enjoyable stay

Looking for a nice place for a camping getaway? We highly recommend checking out the Deep River Campground in Asheboro, NC. The location itself is beautiful. It is literally on the Deep River and features a hiking trail that runs along the river past the remnants of a historical damn, where a small area of rapids gently swirls around the big rocks spanning the river. There’s also a large lake with a nice grassy expanse for picnics, playing games or just lazing around lakeside. This campground has been around for a while, but it has new owners now and they are breathing some for real new life into the place. They have already made lots of repairs and improvements, and you can see more in progress. There are sites for RVs with all the hook-ups, and great primitive sites for tent camping, several located right on the river. If you don’t have an RV and sleeping on the ground doesn’t spark joy, they have a few small rustic but nicely-appointed cabins. You’ll find two pools, several covered picnic shelters, a playground for the small ones, and several options for older kids and adults to play, like a horseshoe pit and a nice game room. They also have planned activities like movie nights and weiner roasts most evenings to entertain and create community among campers. They are pet friendly and have their own pet mascots on site— a flock of ducks including beautifully colored teals and mallards. We were just there for 2 nights, but I have a good feeling we’ll be visiting there again soon. Definitely worth a visi

      Camp Henning at Ellerbe Springs

      Horror of Horrors

This property should not be advertised. It was next to a cow pasture and the flies were horrible. We could not even get out of our van. The other trailers there were obviously long term and not well maintained. The inn had n the property was dilapidated and closed. Nothing in the description was anything like our experience. We decided to leave after seeing the condition of everything. Real bad.

High Rock Lake Marina and Campground

      Like watching water boil

Was a monthly Camper when I came in to the campground. Nobody was cleaning the men’s room. No one was trying to collect the fall leaves. This is an old run down campground. I cleaned the men’s room for free because there was no staff to clean. I regret helping the owner for free on multiple occasions.

Dispersed Camping off Falls Dam Trail

Large group sites surrounded by OHV activities

This is/was marked as dispersed camping but this is primarily an OHV area, with a shooting range nearby that can be heard from some campsites. Most, if not all, of the campsites are intended to be large group sites. The empty site we found was filled with trash, discarded tents, air mattresses, and trashed electronics from OHVs. There's so much trash we would not even be able to take it all out with us if we wanted to. This may be a national forest, but it is not peace and quiet as one would expect from "dispersed and primitive" camping.

      Art Lilley Campground

Loved the trail to it. Not the quietest place though.

There was other people camping and running their generators all night. Some low lifers on ATV blasted in and out of the parking area and blasting music at 2 am. Good luck getting any sleep here. But enjoyed the trail to it and the forest. Got at least 2 hours of sleep before I packed up.

    Guide to Richfield

Richfield's camping scene stands out with its strategic location between the Uwharrie National Forest to the east and the greater Charlotte metropolitan area to the west. Most campgrounds in this region sit at elevations between 600-800 feet above sea level, providing moderate temperatures that average 75-85°F during summer camping months. Fall camping offers colorful foliage displays while spring brings abundant wildflowers to surrounding hiking trails.

    What to do

Fishing opportunities: Lakes and ponds at several campgrounds near Richfield provide family-friendly fishing. At Bass Lake, the small lake offers easy catches for beginners. "Fun watching all the turtles in water bobbing in and out. Nice way to end a travel day," noted one visitor who enjoyed the lakeside setting.

Explore nearby trails: The wooded areas surrounding Cobble Hill RV Campground feature walking paths suitable for all ages. "We walked the RV sites and spotted several that were very nice as well. They each seemed to offer a decent bit of privacy, which is nice," shared one camper who enjoyed exploring the grounds.

Swimming pools for summer heat relief: Multiple swimming options exist at various campgrounds. At Thousand Trails Forest Lake, a camper noted they have "3 pools and a ton of activities. There is also an adult lodge with a tv and pool table. We have been coming here for about 6 years."

    What campers like

Farm-fresh experiences: Several campgrounds offer unique agricultural touches. At Cobble Hill RV Campground, one reviewer appreciated "getting fresh eggs from the check-in store each morning... And I mean... Fresh Eggs. Really cool place." Another mentioned the "Goats and a horse also live here."

Family activities: Organized events keep children entertained at Lake Myers RV Resort. "A+ campground.. fun activities.. kid friendly.. love playing BINGO here!!" shared one satisfied visitor. Another called it a "Great place for family" with "Many activities offered for family with 2 large pools."

Quiet locations for relaxation: For those seeking peace, Ivory Clay Farm provides a serene setting. A reviewer described it as "a great relaxing get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life! We love relaxing & enjoying the bonfires, sunsets, wildlife & star gazing."

    What you should know

Site leveling challenges: Many campgrounds have uneven spots requiring preparation. At Crown Cove RV Park, one camper mentioned "much of the sites are not well kept. Way out of level." Plan to bring leveling blocks if traveling with an RV.

Seasonal differences impact experience: Some amenities close during off-season periods. A Thousand Trails Forest Lake visitor noted "Unfortunately a lot of the activity type things (arcade, mini-golf, horseshoes, etc) weren't available because we visited in the off season. Bummer but to be expected."

Campground personalities vary significantly: Each location has a distinct atmosphere. Salem Breeze RV Park "is a no-frills RV campground. It's a great spot to hook up your rig if you're in the area for something else, but it's not a destination campground. Spots are level with plenty of room although not much shade."

    Tips for camping with families

Age-appropriate selection: Not all campgrounds suit very young children. At Lake Myers RV Resort, one family noted "There was not much at all for them to do other than play in the pool. There is a play ground and game room for older kids but nothing for the smaller children to do."

Consider rental cabins: For families new to camping, cabin options provide comfort. Cobble Hill RV Campground offers "REALLY nice" cabins that impressed visitors. "We stayed here while visiting friends who lived in the Salisbury area and stayed in Cabin 1. The cabins are REALLY nice, I was very impressed."

Playground and recreation access: Look for campgrounds with children's facilities. At Thousand Trails Forest Lake, families appreciate the "2 swimming pools, camp store, snack bar, fishing pond... basketball court, mini golf, & playground equipment" which creates a "Nice RV Campground for the Family."

    Tips from RVers

Road width considerations: Several rv campgrounds have challenging internal roads. One visitor to Lake Myers RV Resort warned "This is a decent family-friendly campground but is quite difficult to navigate the roads and sites if you have a larger rig."

Internet reliability for remote workers: When rv camping near Richfield, North Carolina, connectivity varies significantly. One visitor at Lake Myers noted "Verizon service has 2 bars. Occasionally got a little spotty while working, but our hotspot worked enough. Streaming did get dicey."

Advanced reservations recommended: Popular rv campgrounds fill quickly, especially during prime seasons. At Elmore RV Park, spaces are limited with short-term visitors placed "in a small gravel lot" while long-term spots fill quickly, requiring early booking.
