Norwood Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Fishing, swimming, and lake access draw campers to Norwood Campground, an established private campground in Norwood, North Carolina, operating since around 1964. A short walk from the sites puts campers on the shore of Lake Tillery, where a private slip is reserved for campground guests. An on-site fishing pond adds another option for anglers who prefer to stay close to camp. The campground sits in open terrain with a mixed hardwood and pine canopy, which means sites get a combination of sun and shade rather than the unbroken exposure common at more modern RV parks.

Sites accommodate RVs up to 42 feet with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections. WiFi is available on-site, and reviewers consistently flag the signal as reliable. The bath houses are dated but kept clean, and on-site amenities include a general store, firewood, ice, propane refill, a playground, a swimming pool, and laundry. The pool uses ladder-style entry rather than walk-in steps, which some visitors with small children have found awkward. Hiking paths run through the property, and Morrow Mountain State Park Campground is within a short drive for those who want additional trail options.

Matthew W. describes the place as "vintage without being run down," which captures the general tone of the campground well. Rates run $42 to $70 per night depending on site type, and the campground fills up on summer weekends. Pets are welcome, and reservations are available. Booking ahead for July and August is advisable, especially for sites closer to the lake access point.

Truly excellent

Wonderful campground! Vintage without being run down. The owners have done a great job of retaining the "old school" charm of the place (originally established 1964 I think?) while keeping up with utilities and overall functionality. We particularly appreciated the intact tree canopy; many rv parks these days are sun baked parking lots but not here. I estimated roughly 60/40 hardwood/pine and there's sun or shade when you want either. General store, ice, firewood, propane refill all on-site. Playground and swimming pool clean and in good condition. The bath houses near our site were clean and functional, though I don't think they were the main ones. Lake Tillery 2 minutes away by foot (slip is private for campers I believe), Badin lake a short drive, Uwharrie NF a short drive. In our time here fellow campers were outgoing and friendly, relaxed and having a good time but without any of the riff-raff or over indulgence. This was our first visit, but coming from the nearby Charlotte area it's our new go-to campground.

Enjoyed our stay !!

Older campground but full of charm. Lot of hiking paths which our dog loved. Owners were very nice to deal with. Although we did not do much they have a fishing pond, a very nice kids playground. A short hike and you are on Lake Tilery excellent internet service. We will stay again. It was a very peaceful stay.

Quiet & peaceful

Great little gem in the area to avoid the chaos and calamity with the other Uwharrie area campgrounds. Very quiet and peaceful. Spacious lots in a wooded setting, includes a pool, walking trails, and access to Lake Tillery. Ice and firewood available onsite. Bath-houses are dated. Campground staff is super friendly and eager to make your stay comfortable.

good campground

Decent campground with a pond for fishing, a swimming pool, and a store. The pool doesn’t have normal steps that you walk down into the pool on, they only have the ladder steps which make it a little tricky getting in with a small child. There is no access to the lake from the campground, but the lake is close by. Very friendly staff. The bathrooms/showers have no ac.
