TravelerThis campground has sites on both Dry Brook and the Butternut Creek. Some sites are electric/water, and some are full srvice. Nice bathrooms and showers with ADA compliant bathrooms and showers on the one side of the park. Also, a dumping station and garbage dumpsters.
TravelerThe Campsite itself is really great: -at least half of the Sites are car accessible -you don’t need 4WD (gravel road) -nice lake and nature -many sites have fireplaces and outhouses -it’s free
What’s really bad: We were here in June and there was an invasion of biting flies. There were so many that you couldn’t stand still for 5 seconds and it was just not enjoyable. I also think this is a general thing in this area not just at this campsite.
Then we got a really good mosquito repellent (from Walmart) for skin and one for clothing and now we finally can enjoy this stay. (It’s important that you get a high quality one with high deet percent, the others don’t work)

TravelerNot good for larger rigs, largest site was too short for mine. Pot holes in the campground road are so bad that it caused damage to my trailer. Bathroom is a mess. He brought us to the site which was nice but while I was hooking up power he said my surge supressor would cause problems, and my water pressure gauge would prevent us from getting any water. All the reviews said the guy was friendly and he was to my wife, but wouldn't say 2 words to me even with a probing question.
GuideWell, I’m back, it’s June, and there are 3 other groups here. 1 boat, and 2 tent camping. The parking lot is still empty. The water was significantly lower last time I was here. They have dropped the gates, and the lock is in operation. The resident peacock has been keeping me company. Tried fishing, without any luck, it had been raining a lot lately, so maybe that was the reason. It still has the highway noise and of course the train noise going by, but I love that. I anticipate another lovely sleep. It’s quite breezy, so the windows will be open. I’m in my happy place!!!
GuideOwner is very knowledgeable and helpful. Very friendly too! Took us to the site, helped back us in and helped us hook everything up! Would stay here again! The land is next to a river. They keep it mowed and it went on for a while. The dogs enjoyed the walk!

GuideContinue driving past the original coordinates until you reach the dirt parking lot on the right. You’ll see signs that say “No Vehicles Past This Point” — those apply only to the grassy picnic area. The parking lot is large, rocky, and uneven, situated right on the Mohawk River. It's a great spot for wildlife viewing and fishing (with a valid license). Verizon cell service is good here. At the lock parking area, you'll find pit toilets, a dumpster, and potable water available on the side of the building as you enter.
GuideThis trailhead provides access to bicycle-friendly nature trails. I explored both directions on my bike, riding approximately half a mile down each side. The terrain eventually transitions into a low-lying, swampy area, likely due to recent rainfall over the past week.
About 500 feet down the right-hand trail, there is a smaller path branching off to the left. This leads to a previously used campsite, approximately 200 feet from the main trail. The site includes a stone fire ring, indicating prior use.
Given that camping is permitted anywhere in the woods as long as it’s at least 150 feet off the trail, the surrounding area offers an abundance of potential camping spots.
