We had lots of fun, we spent one day at the mines and the next day we tried to do as many activities as we could- wiffle ball, made pinwheels, volleyball with a giant volleyball, bingo, family relay, ice cream social and dance party. Great time, clean campground, great staff.

Located about 2-miles from the New York State Thruway(I-87), this park is ideally situated for a Lake George area vacation. We spent 6-days in early-August and it really wasn’t enough.
The staff treated us so nicely and the array of resort-level amenities are beautifully-maintained and clean. They run a free trolley within the campground and to the local retail outlets. The park is so large, you’ll be happy to see that red trolley coming around to take you to and from your campsite and the swimming pools(plural), game room, theater which offers nightly entertainment, paddle boats, cafe, dog park, and much more. In addition, a local trolley service operates an hourly ride to and from Lake George Village. The cost is just$1 per person per trip(free for young kids) and discounted tickets are available for sale at the campground. The many opportunities for activities and entertainment are top-notch. Not just“campground-nice,” but really nice! And everything they offer is included at no extra cost(except food, of course). Check out their mobile app for updates to activities, a trolley tracker(fun+ helpful!), and more.
The camp store was well-stocked with food and drinks, souvenirs, and RV/camping supplies.
Our pull-thru site(#109) was level and the full hookups all worked fine. Like most of the park, our site was nicely wooded for shade, but none of the trees were in the way of our motor home. Each site had its own trash can and they collected garbage daily. That’s nice and convenient.
Lake George RV Park is such a great place to stay that I hate to point out anything negative, but it’s why we rely on reviews. Two negatives to report. The site was a nice size and beautiful in so many ways except for the sandy dirt. With how charming everything is, I was surprised they didn’t at least put down gravel let alone concrete or asphalt in the sites. It was impossible to keep the dirt and sand out of our RV— and we tried. It also rained a few times during our stay which made it even worse. The other negative is their nonexistent wi-fi. It’s 2022, and we rely on wi-fi for connectivity to the office along with the ability to watch tv using streaming services(especially on a rainy night). The size of this place probably makes it difficult to provide good coverage, but it would be a huge improvement if they could figure it out.
It’s obvious that this is a family-operated campground because they offer so many niceties that corporate owners have done away with elsewhere. I positively can not say enough about how great this campground is. It’s a tremendous place and we can’t wait to go back!

GuideThis campground, a KOA campground, offers all you could need and more. From dry tenting sites, RV hookup sites, to elaborate and science-based cabins. They offer a children's playground, pool, little grocery store, volleyball area, and of course, the Herkimer Diamond Mine and restaraunt, right across the street.
Keeping in mind , it is a busy family resort during prime season and holidays, so if you're looking for a quiet, non-crowded location, this may not be the place for you (unless you try it in offseason), but the noise did not seem too bad in the evening, and the times Ive been there, most campers did seem respectful of each other.
There is a beautiful river where some of the sites are located next to, where you can wade into, kayak , tube down, or just sit on the bank and watch the local wild life swim by . There are bathrooms and showers, although not the cleanest I've ever witnessed, but they are sufficient and helpful if needed.
Some of the prices can be a little costly on some of the sites, but there are cheaper options on other sites as well, and with the diamond mine nearby, and all the activities that the park offers, it is definitely a park to visit, especially if you have children.
Ranger
We had to leave poplar point do to overbooking when we decided to add an extra night. We were directed down the road to Little sand point. This is another great spot on the water, but is a bit more crowded than Poplar point. However, this site offers a good beach for swimming, helpful staff to point out great hikes in the area, and they rent out kayaks for $20 for 24 hours which in my opinion is a total steal. Overall it was a good experience, but not a place I would stay long term.

Campground has large full hook up campsites and plenty of them. Each site is mostly level and seems private with having greenery around each site. There are planned activities each day like limbo, scavenger hunts, movie night at the pool( in summer months) and a great pool to swim in with two water slides. At $96/ night it is pricey, but still less expensive than staying at a hotel resort. Bonus is you camp in July, there are raspberry bushes throughout the park!!

Store was fairly well stocked with things you might’ve forgot to pack. Staff was nice.
The not so good: lots of rules and charges for every little thing, our walkie talkies picked up on staff conversations and we heard they wanted to charge a family a guest fee for a delivery driver if he was on site more than 15 minutes, Showers cost money at $0.25 per 4 minutes, no wifi at all and poor cell reception, pool is NOT heated as they state all over their website, trash is not picked up, no activities or anything to do other than swim. Far from downtown Lake George and no trolley service, charges for early arrival regardless of whether sites is available or not and you can’t sit in their parking arrival area and wait.
I would not choose this campground again. It wasn’t horrible. There is so much more they could offer for their resort prices that they charge. Drove through Lake George RV resort on Rt. 149 and I think I’d choose that campground next time.
Check out the boats you ride on Lake George! The Adirondack is dog friendly! Get the coupon at the arcade for $3 off the $25 cost. Frontier Town gift shop on Rt 9 with the big teepee out front had great selection of stuff for good prices. Northway Brewing was fun with good beer!

This park is located approximately 12.5 miles from downtown Cooperstown and is set in the quiet rural countryside of New York. The mature trees make for beautiful scenery in the fall. There is a mix of sites varying from tent, RV, rental trailers, and camping cabins/cottages/lodges bringing the total number of sites to 120. Back-in and pull-thru sites are available. Site types include full hookup, water and electric, and no hookup with prices varying depending upon site. You can choose between 30/20 or 50 amp electric service. Interior roads are gravel and some site pads are gravel while others are grass.
The park is nicely terraced and all the sites are level. Patios were a grassy/dirt area with a picnic table and fire pit. Our site (#41) was a pull-thru but there was no way we could drive our 45’ motorhome forward out of the site because of a large tree and narrow roads. So we ended up having to back out. The free wifi worked well as did our Verizon 4G phone and hotspot. We picked up a dozen or so television channels with our antenna. The park does have a fair amount of trees that would interfere with roof-mounted satellite dishes so you would have to pick your site carefully. But, there are some 30 amp and no hook-up sites that are clear. This is a typical KOA with lots of amenities including a swimming pool(which was closed for the season when we were there), a playground, volleyball court, basketball court, jump house, pavilion, recreation room, bicycle rental, and horseshoes. Showers, restrooms and laundry are also present and clean. There is a propane filling station. While there is no fenced-in dog park there is a pet walking area. The surrounding area is pretty rural and the closest town (Richfield Springs– which is very small) is five miles away and where you will find restaurants, gas station, grocery store, and more. A few miles from the park is a creamery that has a café.
Approximately five miles away is Glimmerglass State Park which was great for hiking and kayaking Otsego Lake. There is a also a historic house at the park that you can tour and the country’s oldest covered bridge. Cooperstown is a little over twelve miles away from the park but well worth a trip. Not only is Cooperstown home to the National Baseball Hall of Fame but it is a charming downtown well worth exploring. Other nearby attractions include The Farmers Museum, Fenimore Art Museum, Hero’s of Baseball Wax Museum, Glimmerglass Opera, and Cooperstown Brewing Company.

RV park has a well stocked store, several pools, 2 game rooms, outdoor ping p3ong, tennis and pickle ball courts, basketball courts, ballfields, free paddle boats, fishing pond and paved bike paths. Nearby hiking, shopping and trolley takes you into town and Lake George. HIKED PROSPECT MT. as a non experienced hiker and would recommend if your in shape or experienced. Beautiful views!!! Rv park is very hilly. Large, clean dog park.
GuideIt’s ironic that there are a lot of campgrounds out there that call themselves a“resort” and yet the one that truly is a resort, doesn’t. Lake George RV Park is, simply said, amazing. The grounds are well kept, the facilities are modern and clean, hookups were perfect, site was level, staff is super friendly and helpful. There are quite a bit of seasonals but all of their sites and equipment were well-kept. There is everything you can imagine to do, if not here then nearby. I stayed here in October and can imagine that the place must be really hopping over the summer. The camp store has just about everything you can imagine. Walking from one end of the camp to the other is a hike in itself.
But of course, you have to pay for all of that delicious goodness– the fees are not for the feint of heart. The roads throughout the camp can be confusing just from the sheer number of them. Some sites look quite close together and others are more spread out but you can discern the difference from their map.
Not only would I return, but I don’t want to leave!

The website is intentionally vague on how cleared out this campsite is. A few trees along the river then just dust or if it rains it’s mud. Throw down some mulch! This is an RV park. Tent campers beware.

Although the campground was right off the road, it's still in a forest with big pine trees and mossy boulders. It was easy to access from 87. Given the proximity to the road, there is road noise, so that doesn't allow for that super outdoorsy experience you might desire. At night though it would get very dark and quiet - there weren't a lot of campers there during our stay. The camphost lives in a home onsite and was mostly helpful. Be sure to mention the 5 nights for 4 deal on their website upfront, otherwise she won't reimburse. Upon working with her to extend our stay, she said people were scheduled to come into our spot. We moved and no one arrived, so that was a bit annoying.
To get to the sites, we had to take it a bit slow because there are some low hanging trees and a turn, but made it fine. Our first site, 22, was a back-in, 30 amp, full hook-up. It was a long site with plenty of room for our RV and SUV. We had to back it up to the very end to find the flattest option to level. With the way they have their sites set up, you need a 50 ft hose for water. This site was close to the showerhouse but next to a longterm trailer with crap everywhere and we weren't super thrilled that was our view from our windows in our living area. Our second site, 50, was also a back-in, 30 amp, full hookup. It was very pretty but hard to level. The site slopes up, so the backend was high. We tried about every way to sit our rig in there to level, but we ended up driving our front tires up on some leveling blocks and went up with the jacks as much as we safely could. We didn't get a perfect level, but we decided it was ok since we only had 2 days left. We had to wiggle our SUV in kind of sideways, but it worked.
There were some "residents" there in tents, which was interesting and a couple longterm trailers (with the typical cluttered lots you see at campgrounds that offer longterm stays). The campground is clean and the shower houses were faithfully cleaned everyday around 11a. Showerhouses were dated, but had super hot water for showers.
A few miles further down the road is the town of Lake Luzerne. We visited their small grocery which had the basics and we ate at one of the restaurants which had a view of the water (Upriver Cafe). The campground was in a perfect location to visit Lake George and surrounding area (Six Flags, outlet shops, putt-putt, restaurants etc). If you're wanting to explore even more you're only 1.5 hrs to Lake Placid and the Green Mountain National Forest.
Work was difficult with my husband dependent on AT&T. The Weboost got Verizon working fine, but AT&T was spotty. We had some issues with our RV that we were trying to get fixed locally which extended our stay, otherwise we would have left earlier due to this. The camphost told us that they had invested in some sort of mini Verizon tower for their personal use, so that was what was helping the Verizon signal. The campground offers wifi at the office/pool/rec room area, but when the "residents" come down, it brings it to a snails pace. My husband would go down there in the morning to work and had to go to Starbucks in Lake George at times when all the kids at camp decided to be on their devices at the same time.
Pool is not heated, so not many people were using it. They charge $2 per garbage bag to be put in their dumpster. They sell a few necessities in their office and firewood. They have laundry with 1 working residential washer $1 and 1 residential dryer $.75 and 1 industrial sized dryer $1. We did a couple loads with no issue. They are outside in a patio area.
Bring the bug spray. The mosquitos were as big as birds and tenacious!

I've visited Lake George before and loved the area, and to be fair, even though it was late June (June 22), we were scheduled to leave on the morning that their "season" officially opened (aka all the fun things started). Additionally, the swimming beach was closed due to water quality. So during the weekday, out-of season, and with just enough rain to make 6 flags an unlikely candidate, we were pretty bored. Again, Lake George is a great place to visit (just not that day).
The campground staff was very nice. The campground was clearly devoted to seasonal campers (moving a camper/trailer into a site and leaving it there for the summer as a weekend home-away-from-home). The remaining tent sites were so exceptionally small that I almost couldn't set up my 10X10 tent and felt like I was invading another person's back yard. The showers were very clean, the market was adequate, there was a small pool, and decent playground. The major plus for the campground is its close locations to Lake George itself, and the availability of being on a trolley stop (when one is "in-season" and it is open.
If I had a camper(RV) and planned to camp seasonally, I would love a spot here (but they are all really crowded). Being a two-night camper, I felt shuffled to the side where the spaces remaining where simply too small to support camping life. We had reserved and paid for 2 nights, and completely out of character with my normal self, we left a night early. It just wasn't worth staying. The staff, as nice as they were, did not offer to reimburse payment for the unused second night even though we were leaving super early in the morning; however, I know the rule and I didn't ask for the refund either.
TravelerWe love going to Lake George RV Park. It's got large sites, virtually all blacktop roads, bike trails, dog park, indoor pool, outdoor pool and another (new) water park with zero-entry pool. Great store on-site, Movie theater & shows/entertainment, tennis courts, ball park, paddleball courts. Pretty close to Lake George Village and the lake, but not on it (about 5 miles).
My only minor issue was with WIFI on one trip, but most of the time it's pretty good for a campground.
We try to get there once or twice a year.

I’ve yet to have a bad experience at a state park. They are always better maintained and are typically more beautiful and interactive than national park campgrounds and even most RV parks.
The sites are amongst the most spacious I’ve ever seen. RV sites offer 30/50 amp electricity. There are several hiking trails, a bike trail, a really awesome playground, boat dock, and lots of picnicking.
The bathrooms are clean. The showers are large, but they do operate on a push system where you can’t adjust the pressure, temp, or how long the water comes out, so just be aware of that. Lots of water fill ups in the campground. Dump station on the way out. Two different book exchanges. Mostly filled with Danielle Steele, which is not my preference, but maybe someone will spice it up in the future.
ATT and Verizon fluctuate between 1-3 bars. It was enough for me to work - downloading files, sending emails, and conducting non-video zoom calls. At night we were able to stream with just a little buffering needed throughout.
Lots of bunnies, weasels, chipmunks, birds, and butterflies. Plenty of space to walk the dog. Be sure to bring your dogs rabies records!! They don’t let you in with just the tag, it has to be the paper records. We’re full time so not a problem as it’s always with me, but they are very strict on rabies requirements

GuideThis was our second trip to King Philip's Campground. Big resort with tons of seasonal sites and residents. A small pool, and lots of activities for guests. Sites have full hookups including cable tv. Getting the right site here is key. Some have room, privacy, and trees. Others are close together, and out in the open. Great access to Lake George area, just outside of town, which can be nice given all the activities in town.

Beautiful campground, good size RV spaces, and very friendly staff. If you opt for a site without sewer, they have a dump station that you can use on the way out which is what we did. The trolley will pick you up out front to go into town. The private access to the bike path in the back is a nice addition. Overall, a great stay and couldn't have asked for more. We'll be back.
GuideThe Whippoorwill Motel and Campsites is an amazing quaint place to stay while visiting Lake George and the Adirondacks! We stayed here two nights at the beginning of August(2019) and couldn't have had a better experience. The new owners took over just two months prior, so they are busy doing upgrades to the camp office and store and around the campground. The upgrades being made did not impact the quality of camp sites or other facilities.
Additionally, the personal attention provided by Will and his father made us feel like regulars. Will's father greeted me by name every time he saw me and would stop what he was doing to chat. We stayed at one of the full hookup sites during this visit.
There are less than 50 total sites in the campground and only a hand-full had full hookups. Most did have water and electric. The sites are VERY Level, good sized, close, but spacious enough to have an enjoyable stay without being on top of each other. The cottages and motel looked nice from the outside. There is a nice sized and landscaped swimming pool, game room, and large community fire pit to enjoy. The location of the campground is ideal. Only two miles south of Lake George and a few miles north of the Outlet Mall. Another amenity is the paved bike path that goes along the back of the campground and runs between Lake George and Glen Falls. This was a great amenity and can help avoid all the traffic at Lake George by riding bikes into town. Overall this was a great place to stay to explore the area. Being smaller in size meant less traffic and noise, but didn't mean less enjoyment. The campground and buildings were well maintained and conveyed a welcoming atmosphere. The one area where Whippoorwill is lacking is the camp store/office, but this is the area they are currently updating so I expect great things in the future. We look forward to returning in the future.

When we first drove up I almost turned around. But, we had our reservation and there were none local available for full hookups. Driving in, the office was kind of run down. On the way to our site, we passed the "pool". Green, thick, and nasty - seriously! There are many trees, which is nice. BUT, the sites big enough for our camper were difficult to get into, and right next to seasonal campers. These people had so much stuff surrounding them, it was weird. (My opinion ) Painted rocks, knomes, plastic deer, pigs, knick knacks EVERYWHERE. The people were nice, but.. We were at site 212, and were here for 3 night. We had a family function, so leaving was not an option. The Northway was directly to the west , maybe 1000 ft through the woods, extremely loud traffic noise.

It is a cool place, Richard and Rick are great guys. The land they share has a pond that is very secluded. We used his power source so we were near his home and site was level for the travel trailer. Slept great each night!! Lots of trails near by for biking or hiking. Highly recommend. Property has an abundance of free firewood you can collect.
Pros; great guys to get to know, level site, dark and private, available and free firewood, lots to hike and bike in the area.
Cons; only con was that they were limited on water so could not dump tanks during our stay, had to travel to anothwr place, a little hassle.

LegendWe spent 2 days here on site M2. It was full hookups. The site pad was packed gravel and slightly unlevel. We have a 27 foot camper and was slightly difficult to maneuver into the site. If your camper sits low, chances are it will hit the road on some of the inclines. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. The pool was up to 8ft deep, so watch your children at all times! Propane was available, as well as a small grocery.

My wife, our 3-year old son and myself had the pleasure of spending 10 beautiful weeks at West Canada Creek Campground.
From our first interaction to the time we left and every moment in between the owners of the campground were welcoming, kind, friendly and just overwhelming pleasant.
Under new ownership as of Summer 2022. The new owners, Imrana and Jason, made us feel welcomed from the moment we checked in. Whether it be making recommendations for food, sightseeing or things to do in the area. Jason even went as far as stopping by our site to make sure everything was up to our satisfaction.
The property is clean and well manicured. The camp store is well stocked. The bathrooms and showers are clean and well kept. The laundry room is clean and machines are new.
The West Canada Creek wraps around the entire property and provides such a tranquil backdrop. The sites are surrounded by lush oaks and pines. Makes it feel as though you are truly immersed in nature. Most of the sites are fairly level, either gravel or grass.
The campground also has a tubing business on property with an upstream shuttle as well as an ice cream stand! There is a playground with slides and swings as well as a swimming pool. There is a beach volleyball court, half court basketball and horseshoe pits.
We stayed on three different sites (2 partial hookups, 1 full hookup). Each site was level and easily accessible.
Throughout our 10 weeks there, we encountered dozens and dozens of guests who have been returning to this campground year after year.
Their themed weekends and accompanying activities throughout the season are wonderful. We had the pleasure of staying for Labor Day weekend in which they had a kids carnival set up among many other things. Their Halloween weekend is truly a must see, with wagon rides and trick-or-treating! This weekend like many others fill up nearly a year in advance. Return guests reserve their spot the following year before they even check out.
There are a number of seasonal sites with repeat guests who return year after year. Everyone we met was friendly and hospitable. The seasonal guest sites are well kept and clean and gives the campground a safe and serene atmosphere.
The guests at the seasonal sites are invested in this campground, volunteering for the themed weekends. A vast majority of them go all out for Halloween weekend, decorating their sites and RV’s.
Having had the opportunity to be on property for an extended time, I personally witnessed the dedication and love the owners are pouring into this campground daily. They continue to make improvements and updates that not only made our time here more enjoyable, but will certainly guarantee current and future guests will be returning year after year.
We had a tremendous time here and would highly recommend visiting. We will certainly be returning. We are so happy to have been apart of the West Canada Creek Campground family.
LegendThis is a difficult review. Huge park and kid friendly but very expensive for what you get. Level sites and very large. We arrived 18 minutes early. Had to pay $100 for early arrival!!! I ask I if could sit in the parking lot for 18 minutes, clerk advised I would have to leave the property!!! You don’t just drive around town with a 45’ motor coach with a toad. We will not be back. Not for us.
ScoutThis was by far the worst camping experience I've ever had, and it was for less than 10 hours. I backpack and glamp when the situation calls for it. In this case, I looked for a site close to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center to stay at after a concert. The webpage mentioned having a shuttle from the concert, which only indicates that they were likely accommodating many late-arriving concertgoers. I booked my site and received a call shortly after, notifying me that my site was flooded out, and I would need to be moved to the spill-over area. Not a problem. The call was pleasant, and I couldn't have cared any less. I asked how packed the spill-over was, and it sounded fine, so everything was set. We were just there for a quick tent setup, sleep, and leave in the morning kind of scenario.$30-something for the night? Sounds good! How wrong I was. We arrived a little after midnight, as would be expected considering I was asked if I was booking my site for the concert. I notified the main desk that I was just looking for the spill-over area as my site was said to be flooded, and they ended up giving me another site! Score! We were psyched. Maybe we'd take our time and have a little coffee before we left even! I was given a highlighted map to find our site(#174). We pulled into our site and were met with what appeared to be a long-term camper situation across from us complete with green laser beam lighting, giving the surrounding area the feel of both a cheap nightclub, and being the focus of a green dot laser-sighted kill team. Accompanying the visual display was a loud radio, essentially playing the Home Depot radio playlist. Now, the volume was what my girlfriend and I both saw as inconsiderate given that it was after midnight, but we weren't going to make a stink about it. Give them a chance to realize it's late, the campgrounds have rules, and maybe consider being good people. That was a dumb idea. Not only did they turn it up louder, but then they broke out the karaoke machine and proceeded to scream into the microphone as if we had wronged them, and we deserved to live in hell for whatever amount of time we'd be there. If they weren't intentionally trying to piss us off and this is just who they are as regular people, they are the largest pieces of trash humans I've ever encountered, and I work in NYC. We plugged our ears up, trying to get whatever sleep we could get, planning to leave at 7-8 am anyway. There's no telling what drugs these jackasses were on, and who knows if they had guns. "Just get through the night," we said. At some point, a car pulls up to our site and had its headlights right on our tent, waking me up. The driver claims we had his site, which we didn't. I pointed out that the tag on my dashboard matches the site#. Turns out someone from the main desk even had the courtesy to lead them to the site. They ended up bringing the later arrivers to another site. While they were there, they even said"you know better" to the loud people across the way, who had briefly calmed down. That lasted about 2 minutes after the people from the main desk left. It went right back to the meth head karaoke party after that. It started to rain, the meth party moved inside, but they left the radio on. Good times. We barely sleep. 6 am rolls around, and I hear someone approaching my tent."Hey man, sorry for waking you up, you want a balloon?" the random voice asks. For the folks who don't do drugs, this is a balloon of nitrous oxide(whippits). I thought they were fun when I was in my 20s I guess. I respond with a less-than-kind way of saying I just want to sleep. I am proud of myself for not unzipping the tent and figuring out how to stab someone to death with a balloon. I swear I would have figured it out, but they were so messed up on whatever drug cocktail they had been doing all night, they probably wouldn't have felt it, which would have only killed whatever joy I would have gotten from the experience. They leave. We decide to pack up and leave shortly after. I left them with a few seconds of aggressive metal music blasting from my Jeep for good measure, and we left. I doubt they woke up. I truly hope they didn't... like ever. This was a horrible experience. Even if the main desk was upset with our late arrival(despite knowing and planning for the concert in the area), there's never any call for this kind of behavior. The only thing that would have capped off the whole night perfectly would have been someone sneaking into my tent and slamming a bouquet of poison ivy into my urethra. Do not go to this site unless you need a good deal on meth, nitrous balloons, or if you want to feel what it's like to have the purest hatred fill your heart and lose whatever faith in humanity you may have left. I would ask for a refund, but they probably need the money to pay for whatever addiction they're feeding.

Stayed here as no other campgrounds were available due to Labor Day weekend. Classic “parking lot” campground. Trailers lined up close together around a large field. Noisy. Valley is beautiful. We appreciated the electric and water hook up but overall this kind of camping is not our style.
