Great camping spot

The staff was friendly. The sites are spaced out enough and have greenery in between so it feels a little more private than some places. Bathrooms and showers were very clean.

Top Quality State Park

Beautiful state park campground with all the amenities you expect, located on the Hudson River.

The state did an excellent job designing sites with dense foliage as sound and site barriers creating good privacy for campers.

Sites are all within 200 feet of the bathrooms. The bathrooms have good showers and were very clean during our stay. There is also a dishwasher sink and even bookshelves with books available to borrow.

Our favorite feature was the day use and boat ramp on the Hudson River. We saw many larger boats (maybe smaĺl yachts?) during the day. The view from the boat ramp area was amazing. However, stay away if you see boat going by. The boat ramp dock turns into a death trap when a big wake from a boat hits the river bank!

Beautiful, spacious state park

Wide spaces near the Hudson River are beautiful. Campgrounds are under renovation to clear some trees and improve facilities in what might be the best state park we’ve camped at. Lots of well marked trails with great views of the river (cannot be seen from campsites).

Electric only on site but lots of spots to fill fresh water in campgrounds. Bathrooms are big and very clean.

At&t one bar. Site was open enough that Starlink was great.

Surprising Treat

Located in the Hudson River Valley south of Albany lies this nice and clean campground . Very clean bathrooms , firewood can be delivered to your campsite as well as Ice . The staff and CAP’s they are in the campground were very friendly . Large playground , boat ramp and hiking / biking trails . It’s sits under some extremely large cottonwood trees and there is a abundance of wildlife . We were told the place can be quite busy during peak times but we were there during the week . Highly recommend a visit . Water is available at different spots in the campground but not at the sites .

Nice place to stay!

This park has spacious campsites. Electric hookups on 2 of the 3 camping loops. Tent loop does not. Bathrooms are modern and clean. Hiking trails are well maintained. There are 2 boat launches- Kayak launch creek side and large boat launch to the Hudson River. Fridays during the summer they have a fire department food truck in the pavilion area where you can buy hamburgers, hotdogs, sausages, pretzels and more. They also have local live music on Firehouse nights.

Summer stay

We are heading from the east coast back to Park City and this is our second year staying here for two nights. Level, private sites. Clean bathrooms. Good Verizon connection. Used our hot spot to stream Netflix. Eat at The Poke Jar down the street if you have a chance…..great spot!

Spacious State Park

I’ve yet to have a bad experience at a state park. They are always better maintained and are typically more beautiful and interactive than national park campgrounds and even most RV parks.

The sites are amongst the most spacious I’ve ever seen. RV sites offer 30/50 amp electricity. There are several hiking trails, a bike trail, a really awesome playground, boat dock, and lots of picnicking.

The bathrooms are clean. The showers are large, but they do operate on a push system where you can’t adjust the pressure, temp, or how long the water comes out, so just be aware of that. Lots of water fill ups in the campground. Dump station on the way out. Two different book exchanges. Mostly filled with Danielle Steele, which is not my preference, but maybe someone will spice it up in the future.

ATT and Verizon fluctuate between 1-3 bars. It was enough for me to work - downloading files, sending emails, and conducting non-video zoom calls. At night we were able to stream with just a little buffering needed throughout.

Lots of bunnies, weasels, chipmunks, birds, and butterflies. Plenty of space to walk the dog. Be sure to bring your dogs rabies records!! They don’t let you in with just the tag, it has to be the paper records. We’re full time so not a problem as it’s always with me, but they are very strict on rabies requirements

Definitely recommend.

So sweet

As we drove in, we counted like 20 bunnies! We were around 830pm driving in. They had baby bunnies too. The lady working came to meet us when we called her to check in. She was so sweet! Best host/ worker we ever had at a camp ground. The bathrooms smelled like Clorox when we walked in!! Nice and clean. They also cleaned them around 8am. The showers took a bit to get hot but worked. The sites were quiet and dark. It was a really nice place to stay. Boat launch and playground as well.

Felt like camping by ourselves!!

Fabulous stay! The roads in are definitely patched and bumpy, but once your in the loop things are smooth! The site was SO spacious and felt secluded because of all the nature and greenery. Bathrooms are clean and the water is very cold!

Wonderful hikes and beautiful walks. Boat docks looked pretty easy for ins and outs, and the pavilions were huge! The city is near by and I’m gonna say we weren’t a huge fan with driving a F-250 8’ bed… or some of the crowded areas…. But check out the USS Slater and the Schuyler House for sure!

A pleasant place to camp!

What a fun place to stay! The sites are spaced apart nicely and well maintained. There is electric at most sites with water near the ends and there is a tent area with nothing. Also each site had large fire pits and picnic tables!! Large well maintained bathrooms are provided in the middle of each campground circle. They have recycling there and a large selection of books for you to use also! I told you this is a fun place. All the staff was very helpful, and courteous! Nicole at the front gate was very professional as were the others we encountered throughout our stay! The trails were fun to mountain bike ride on and hike! Just watch out on the weekends as there may be horses on the trail and leave their droppings behind "on" the trail.(Why do the owners not clean up after them, dog owners manage their pets!) We kayaked up and down the Schodack Creek, just watch out for the tide changes. It moves about 5' difference most days. It was fun. Lots of birds, turtles and some fish jumping! We watched the boats, some barges, go up and down the Hudson River as well as people fishing along the banks. Grocery store(Hannaford's) is just SE of there about 8 miles or you can go to Albany(17 miles). Laundry(Nine Juliet Laundromat) is in Castleton just N of there.. 3 miles.. very nice, clean and friendly owner! Go have fun and enjoy yourself!.(Oh, we were out-of-staters so we paid an extra fee but it was well worth it!)

Easy camping experience

This camp site offered a fairly easy and laid back experience. The park ensures you’ll have what you need with stores within close proximity and the staff even offers ice and firewood delivery to your site. Our spot and most other spots were decently spacious and level, although fairly close to our neighbors. Throughout the day you may also get noise from the nearby train tracks.

Excellent birding

Stopped for one night on way from New England to Finger Lakes region. Fairly level pull-thru. Mix of large rock gravel, dirt, grass/weeds. Service side of rig faced a nice small grassy area with pretty trees. Awning side faced rather ugly weeds/shrubs and was close to neighbor. Bathouse ok. Plum trees in full fruit on either side plus other lovely landscaping. Best part was hiking out to a couple of different blinds to look for birds. Did see a juv eagle. Not time to fully explore. Would go back. Disappointed that trees and vines on trails obscured almost all possible river views.

Very pleasant, easy going and many rabbits

Stayed 3 nights with 2 buddies.  We had 2 tents set up on the ground (2 man and 6 man capacity tents) and a third specialty tent in the bed my buddy's pick-up truck.  Plenty of room for a pop-up canopy over the picnic table and my car with its own attached awning.  We had a third car parked just off the roadway and we were never asked to move it to the parking area since there is usually a 2 car limit (my friend is lazy like that).

Weather was warm, so we were mostly trying our best to stay cool.  Unfortunately, I did not take full advantage of the park's amenities.  I did some light biking, walking around and mostly relaxing at the campsite.  The electricity and running water work 100%, the campsite was cleared and clean.  The picnic table was very new and stable.  Ice and firewood were delivered at our request at a decent price.  best of all, this campsite had the cleanest bathrooms and shower facilities of any place I have ever been.  Only one of my friends had trouble with his shower as the water stopped running and he could not completely rinse off.  There must have been some momentary problem with the plumbing.  I know it was fixed quickly and everything was running once again.

Not a lot of tents, mostly RV's.  All my neighbors were quiet and in bed around 9p.  Unfortunately, my group of three like to stay up late so I hope our talking didn't interfere with our neighbor's ability to sleep.  No one complained, so I am assuming we kept it down low enough. Pet friendly, though we didn't bring ours.

I recommend this place for families, though the age group observed there were mostly late 30's, 40's and 50's.  Not too many kids.  Many "exotic" birds (for a Brooklyn boy, anything that is not a pigeon or sparrow is exotic).  We had frequent visits from Gray Catbirds, and I saw a glimpse of a Bald Eagle through the treeline.  Didn't spot any turtles, though I hear they are there if you go looking.

I plan to return to this campsite, and likely very soon. I had a great time and it was nice not having a park ranger sniffing around every 2-3 hours like I have experienced in other parks and campsites.

A beautiful new (only 10 years old) campground

On the banks of the Hudson River close to Albany & Troy. Large sites with power hookups. There is water available to fill your fresh water tank along the main road. The bath houses are very clean and used for emergency shelter for bad weather. And this is quiet! I can't say enough good things - the best campground I ever stayed at!
