No trees. Dirty pool. Dust/Mud fest.

The website is intentionally vague on how cleared out this campsite is. A few trees along the river then just dust or if it rains it’s mud. Throw down some mulch! This is an RV park. Tent campers beware.

Memorial weekend

Well managed campround with some daily sites on Schroon River. The private bathrooms were an unexpected surprise. Rsch bathroom was large with toilet, sink and shower! With many campers in RVs the bathroom were never busy. The sites were flat and a nice size for that area. A Family oriented campground and everyone was very respectful of the posted quiet time. We had two good size tents and a Pop up camper on two side by side sites. There was still room for some games and the river access and beach was great. We will be back next year.

Fun on the River

We had a site on the river and it was beautiful! I saw other reviews that mentioned the sites being close together- while the sites are on the close side we had enough room to feel comfortable--put out our awning, set up our screened in Pop-Up tent& sit around the fire.

The park does seem to be under some construction, they are building a new Pool Pavillion, which maybe means they will invest more into the pool area?? If this Campground had a nice pool area with a bigger pool or multiple pools, it would be amazing!! The current pool is very small. The new Pavillion will probably also allow for more activities. BUT again the river is amazing, my kids really enjoyed fishing& floating in the river.

The river is the attraction at this Campground that provides hours of entertainment. If you are looking for a resort campground with lots of amenities this may not be the campground for you, but if you want a clean beautiful spot on a beautiful river convenient to Bolton's Landing& Lake George Village you will love it here!! We loved it and cannot wait to return.

Pros: The beautiful river, Clean& well maintained, Nice Game Pavillion, Nice camp store, New Pool Pavillion being built, Pet Friendly.

Cons: sites a little close together, but still comfortable. Laundry area could use updating, but adequate and got the job done. Pool is very small.

Unhappy Camper

The positives- the river was lovely and the staff friendly. Pool was nice but small. Wifi was good                                                                                                                                          The negatives- very poorly maintained. One bath/shower house had only 2 of 4 combined stalls open... and those two were filthy. The other bath/shower house was reasonable... these were separate bathroom and separate shower stalls. The second day, the shower floors got dirty too. MORE CLEANING visits needed. BROKEN items-- in the Arcade, ping pong net broken; at least half of the games were not working and some even took your money though they didn't work. Basically no activities-- only had 1 bingo night while we were there. VERY FEW chairs at the pool area. One time we went... ONE family had ALL the chairs... and there were none for the rest of us. Probably only 6-8 chairs total. Sites VERY small and on top of each other. To my understanding, there were numerous improvements in process and that is good. However, they need to provide reasonable services for current campers. We paid$80 per night for river site/W/E/S which would have been ok if they had amenities and cleanliness....but way too much considering the condition of the park. It was interesting... the first rain free weekend(though only hit a little over 70 degrees)... and there were LOTS of sites available. Perhaps others know not to go there.....

Lots to do

Stayed 1 night passing thru. Mike and vicki were friendly. Electric and water hookups. WiFi was great. Cable tv hookups, also. Dump station on site was convenient. Also, they had propane there, so I topped off. Beautiful campground. They’ve clearly been upgrading. Roads have fresh gravel. Sites are level and clean. Bathrooms are clean. Get a site on the river 👌🏻. Very close to Lake George activities and attractions.

Great River Access

This campground sits on the Schroon River just a few miles north of downtown Lake George and is very easy to access from I-87. They can accommodate any size camper from the 45’ motorhome with 50 amp service to a tent just wanting electric and water. All sites have cable TV hookup and free WiFi at their site along with a picnic table and fire rings. The park is not huge and it was pretty full so it felt a little cramped for us. There were quite a few seasonal people. Some sites back up to the river so you have a nice view. When the park if full, it can be a little cramped for big-rigs to back into some sites, especially the river ones. There are trees to navigate and some of the spots are tight.

Apparently, it is under new management and there are lots of changes that the new owners are proud of. But that also means there is a lot of on-going construction happening in the campground which was pretty annoying. Lots of dust and loud equipment certainly interrupted the thought of a peaceful afternoon outside. Many of the sites in the older section have sand/dirt patios and sandy roads which makes it very dusty. The new area has crushed gravel and lots more room and some pull-thru sites. They have the typical campground amenities like horseshoe pit, pavilion, playground, pool, and camp store. We typically don’t use any of those and they were closed anyway due to Covid-19 safety precautions. Had we stayed longer, we would have taken advantage of the river access and paddled. There is a little beach area and launching paddleboards, canoes, or kayaks would be very easy.  (They also have watercraft available to rent.)  We were more focused on hiking and enjoying the woods.(Recommend the short hike to the“Bear Slide.”)

Some of the things we didn’t like was the sandy/dirt which was a mess when it rained. You are supposed to leave your trash at the front of your site but sometimes it was not picked up until late in the day.  We found the bugs to be very pesky in the evening and didn't want to sit outside. Things we liked it the surrounding location and access to hiking trails and the river. Once the construction is complete and grass takes hold in some areas it will be really nice. Downtown Lake George is only about 4-5 miles away.

Great campsite!

We pulled in in the middle of memorial day weekend. The place was sold out. Staff was super friendly and had us check in on no time. The campground loses a start only because when it's at full capacity, it is very cramped. Some sites are much bigger than others and have more space though. The Schroon River run right through the campgrounds and you can rent kayaks and canoes or bring your own to go a ride. There is a little beach and just launch on site. The bathrooms are very nice and all individual with a toilet and shower in one. Another downside of you're more full-time is there is no laundry on site. You're 4 miles away from Lake George's downtown which is a great area. Plenty of nearby hikes. Each campsite had a BBQ-like fire pit. Campground has a very nice basketball court, pool and playground. Dog friendly and even we were there it looks like their looking to expand and make more sites. Only one cabin available at the moment.
