Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park encompasses Mills Norrie State Park Campground, a forested camping area managed by NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation along the Hudson River. The campground operates from May through October with sites ranging from $17 to $101 per night, accommodating both tent campers and RVs with full hookups available.
Campers find themselves in a wooded setting with tall trees providing natural cover throughout the 50-site campground. The sites sit close together, which several reviewers note reduces privacy but creates a family-friendly atmosphere during busy weekends. Fumi U. observes "I never stayed a state campsite where the sites are so close each other." The campground empties considerably during weekdays, offering a quieter experience for those who can visit mid-week.
Direct access to Hudson River activities draws many visitors, with an on-site marina providing kayak rentals and boat launch facilities. Hiking trails connect directly from the campground, leading to overlooks above the river. Some sites, particularly lot 109, provide informal trail access to river viewpoints. The park's trail network links to broader regional hiking opportunities, while the river supports fishing and paddling activities.
The single bathhouse serves all campers with basic facilities that reviewers describe as adequate but showing age. Only six sites offer electric hookups, with sites 50 and 51 noted as the most level and private options with power. Susan M. mentions "4 tent pads with obstructed river views" and various cabin options above the river. Freight trains cross the Hudson regularly, creating nighttime noise that some find disruptive.
For campers seeking different options in the Hudson Valley region, Mills norrie state park Campground provides an alternative less than a mile away.
