Santa Fe Treehouse Camp

About

The Santa Fe Treehouse Camp and wilderness preserve is a non-smoking facility.

It features 156 acres of highland forest. The land is covered in juniper, piñon, and ponderosa pine, and various cactus. Guests enjoy seeing broad-winged, black-chinned and Rufus hummingbirds, shy cottontail rabbits, skittish lizards, grey fox and more.

The amenities included with your reservation are all-hours access to the outdoor cooking area with a community fridge, stove, microwave, propane grill, blender, coffee maker (bring your own ground coffee or Keurig pod, sugar and creamer), plates, bowls, cooking and eating utensils. Also available is the communal restroom and shower building. All guests are required to recycle and compost as detailed at the Outdoor Cooking Area as per our mission of sustainability.

The camp is located about 20 minutes from Museum Hill, 25 minutes from Meow Wolf, Old Town Santa Fe Plaza and just 15 minutes to delicious food at Harry's Roadhouse, Jambo Bobcat Bite or Cafe Fina. Tree House Camp land borders the Santa Fe National Forest and Pecos Wilderness Area. There are beautiful views and access to Shaggy Peak, the southernmost tip of the Rocky Mountains and the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. Wander our various hiking trails to enjoy a 20 minute hike to a creek (in wet weather) or climb up Shaggy Peak ( seasoned hikers only please!). We look forward to sharing this unique, magical place with you in the “Land of Enchantment."

NOTE: We are up 1.3 miles of dirt road with 2 steep hills and bumps. We are not near public transportation so you will need your own vehicle. Be aware that the roads can be snowy, icy or muddy in early spring, late fall and winter, and rutted due to rains in the summer. At those times of the year we recommend a car with front-wheel, all wheel or four-wheel drive and good traction tires.

Please add any guests 13 years and up to your reservation as adult. (0-4 years old free, 5-12 years old 1/2 price child fee you pay upon arrival with cash, Zelle, Venmo or PayPal. ) Please also plan to pay the $10 per dog/ per night fee. We do not add this into the payments online since not all of the hosting sites we use have that option and it allows us to know that everyone with a dog will owe the dog fee.

Since the camp is minimally lit to see the stars we recommend you bring a flashlight and consider arriving while it is still light out. It makes locating us easier and you will get to experience our beautiful sunsets and have more time to enjoy this enchanted hilltop**! **

Checkin times are 4-8PM Spring, Fall and Winter and 4:00-9:45pm in Summer. Please do not come before 4pm without prior permission. Let me know your ETA and keep me informed of delays.

Once you have located your site you are welcome to leave and come back after the normal check in time without a fee but please be as quiet as possible.

Cellphone reception can be spotty for some carriers, Verizon works the best here. Wifi calling is helpful.

Beautiful camp & friendly staff!

  • The first thing you notice when you arrive at Santa Fe Treehouse Camp is the wonderful smell of pine in the air. The second thing is the breathtaking views of the mountains. SFTC is truly a unique & beautiful place!
  • Camp Directors, Brad & Ciana, and Jonathon (their volunteer naturalist) were all extremely friendly, kind, & knowledgeable about the area. I am a female solo camper and I stayed for a month to be close to my son and to have an inspiring, natural environment to be able to do my artwork. SFTC was the perfect venue! They all work very hard to provide a positive camping experience for everyone, from the bathrooms w/flush toilets & hot showers, available well water, the cabins, campsites, hiking trails, etc. There are nice touches that you don’t find in state parks like bathrooms with hand soap, shampoo, and kleenex, an open air kitchen with fridge & stove…. It all makes for a very cozy stay.
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the month I spent at SFTC & highly recommend it!

Wow we love the location

We stayed a few times now and have enjoy it more each time. Great people, views, and the hiking has endless possibilities. A bonus is that they are situated far enough away from Santa Fe to have quiet starry nights yet close enough to enjoy all that Santa Fe has to offer.

Secluded with fantastic views!

andTreehouse camp is located on a mesa which offers 180 degree views.  You feel secluded, yet only 30 minutes to Santa Fe and all it has to offer.  There are a variety of camping scenarios from tent camp sites to rustic cabins in trees.  Imagine having showers, toilets, electricity, full outdoor kitchen, and water at your disposable.  Owners are extremely knowledgeable about outdoor everything, and natural healing concepts.  We went in an RV

Serene New Mexico Wilderness

I fell in love with New Mexico's wilderness many years ago with it's sparse  dry landscape and sagebrush, and the wide open starry skies at night. When I found the Tree House Camp I just loved the rustic cabins, and the stillness of wilderness there. It is right on the edge of some amazingly alive and intact wild land that I had a lot of fun exploring. It is also just close enough to town that you get the best of both worlds. The hosts are some of the best people you will ever meet! Super helpful and professional.

Beautiful place!

A friend and I were here for a retreat and had an amazing stay. The land is beautiful, calming, and very well taken care of. The weather was perfect all weekend! We stayed in a treehouse that made us feel like we were sleeping directly in the trees. The owners made us feel very welcome and provided us with everything we needed! We also did a short hike down to a beautiful little waterfall. We were also able to stop in Santa Fe on our way out which is only a short drive away. Would highly recommend this place!

Rainbows, hummingbirds and wonders abound!

Love this place! Double rainbows, nice hikes, awesome stars, great hot water showers and a full outdoor kitchen with all anyone would need (except food that is). Quiet accept for the wind in the trees and the hummingbirds in their courtship flights. Less than 30 minutes to great restaurants, museums and galleries. The dirt road to the camp has beautiful scenery and takes you away from the hustle and bustle of the city with each mile you drive. The monsoon rains made the road a bit bumpy in places but not a problem even in a low to the ground car. They recycle and have signs on the bins that make it easy to follow. Stop to buy groceries before you come since the closest grocery stores are about a half hour away.
