Rustic Camping along the Rio Grande

Camping in the Gorge! Several sites available all along Route 570. We stayed at a primitive area right at Taos Junction. Clean bathrooms—great camp host. Very hot during the day so make sure you have some shade, no shelters. Beautiful camping right next to the river!

Total experience

At first you think oh no, it’s just a parking lot. You pull into your periphery space because you did reserve, and as you set up, you realize that all in front of your door there is open space. Trees, wild flowers. Maybe the stream.

The other campers come here as often as they can. They have…

Accessible with some trash

Easy access to Highway 4 does mean car noise present, but only saw 1 other group of people while camping on a Wednesday night. Significant amount of scattered glass present in pretty much every campsite and in the fire pits with some scattered trash.

Secluded and beautiful

I actually deleted my other review because I thought I had the wrong campsite but I checked and it’s all good. The only amenity we had was a vault toilet with a nearby water pump, a fire pit, picnic table and bear boxes. The vault toilets were probably the nicest I’ve been too. They were clean and…

Spacious campground

This campground provided lots of space between sites. There are no hookups, but there are pit toilets, running water, picnic tables, and fire pits. You can fit larger RVs in the spaces on the upper loops of the campground. Ours is 28’ and there was probably 10-15 feet of extra space. The camp host…

Great dispersed camping

We went on 4th of July weekend for an afternoon and a night. When we arrived, I think we were the only ones in the entire place. By the time morning rolled around there were a few more people around but most sites were still open. It was right off the road and easy to find with little road noise.…

Excellent and well-maintained campground with lots to do in the area

Our family stayed here for four days (late June 2021) at Sites 21 and 25.  The first thing you will notice hear is how friendly the camp hosts (Al & Cyndy) are.  By being so involved with everyone that stays here I think that most guests behave themselves.  We had one "problem neighbor"…

Very accommodating

We had to have a couple tires replaced on our RV and not only were they able to fix us up with new tires at their Chevron Station, but she was able to find a space in their RV Park for a couple of nights. It wasn’t a great space, but it was fine. There are some nice large trees, grass in some…

Wild Rivers campgrounds

Basic and good

This site is dusty & a little wild, but the views of the Rio Grande & mountains are great. Bathroom has clean running water. The shelter provides nice shade. Bugs & dust were only real drawback. Oh, and it was hot!

Wonderful views, spacious sites!

We really like this RV Park! The spaces are wide and angled enough to allow for great views! There are no trees, so you will be using your AC and awning when it’s hot out. Sites were quite level and hookups are easy access. There are both full hookup sites and water and electric only sites; there…

Great spots, but a little too close to other people.

FSR 181 B is a dispersed corridor, and on the little stretch of road there are like 6 sites. They aren't super close, but closer than I expected from dispersed camping. Travel further down 181 across the little canyon and there are more spread out sites, but they are also more exposed.

  • Our site, kind of in the middle.

Very clean & nice camp host

My family stayed here last weekend at site 29 (a tent-only site like 27&28). 26 is handicap and 27 and 28 have shade all day. 29 does not have shade however you can go up behind the site where there’s a nice clearing where we set up a few chairs and table to play board games. These sites have…
