Located near the Mullica River, just east of where it empties into New Jersey’s Great Bay, the Chestnut Bay RV Campground offers a quiet place to park your rig away from the hustle and bustle of nearby Atlantic City. Bordered by small Chestnut Lake on one side, and the Port Republic Wildlife Management Area on the other, the campground offers nearly 200 full- and partial-hookup sites. Most sites are back-in, open and grassy with picnic tables. There are also tent sites and several fully-equipped cottages available to rent. The campground’s central area has restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities, as well as a clubhouse, adult lounge and small store. A dump station is located near the campground entrance. Dogs are permitted, but must remain leashed. Campsites are $55/night; reservations accepted. There are numerous outdoor activities available right in the resort for keeping the young and young-at-heart occupied. There’s a sandy playground for kids, plus a swimming pool, putt-putt golf course, horseshoe pits, volleyball and basketball courts, and fishing on Chestnut Lake. There are also hosted activities, such as arts and crafts classes, card and bingo games, and community dances and potlucks. The historic village of Smithville is just a few minutes south on Highway 9, where you can wander along cobblestone streets and peruse the village’s shops, eateries and ice cream parlors. Located just south of the town of Seaville, and a mere 30 minutes from Atlantic City, Lake & Shore RV Resort is the ideal place to settle in to relax and recreate along the Jersey Shore. With so much to do right in the resort, you may not be inclined to leave, but you also have the Cape May Wetlands Wildlife Area, Cape May National Wildlife Refuge, and Cape May County Park and Zoo just minutes away. There’s also the famous Atlantic City Boardwalk and Aquarium. Lake & Shore RV Resort offers 70 transient RV sites with full hookups in a cozy, wooded area. Four of these sites are ADA accessible. There are also five designated tent campsites. There are restrooms and showers available in several locations; a dump station is located . The resort also has a number of cottages and long-term sites. Wifi service is available for an extra feel. Dogs are permitted, but must remain leashed. Contact the resort for current rates. The resort’s main area is where you’re likely to spend most of your time. Visitors have access to a clubhouse lounge, game room, indoor and outdoor playgrounds, an outdoor pool and kids’ water park, a picnic pavilion, and putt-putt golf course. Fishing, swimming and paddling are available on the 12-acre lake, as well as beach volleyball and a community fire pit for gathering in the evenings. Near the back of the resort are sports fields, horseshoe pits and shuffleboard, as well as walking and biking trails.

We stayed at Shady Pines MH& RV Resort for a one-night getaway just for the camping experience.
The park was easy to find and located just under 3-miles from the Garden State Parkway.
The front office staff person was polite and prepared for our arrival.
I reserved this site using Campspot. The rate was$65 plus$23 in fees for a total of$88 for one night.
Even though I provided accurate dimensions for our motorhome, the site was inadequately sized to accommodate the full length. The much bigger problem was that it sloped so much it was impossible to level. I didn’t have enough blocks to prop up the leveling jacks enough to level the RV. I called the front office and was given another site to try. That didn’t work any better. I called back and was given a third site which was the worst so far. Then, at the fourth attempt we could get level. The site was still on a decline, but not as bad as the other three.
Our site (#71) was too short for our 37’ motorhome. I made it fit, but measured just 3-inches of air between the back of my RV and the back of our neighbor’s RV. Three inches! The site had not been checked since its last guests left because there was refuse(used bandages, a used propane canister, etc.) that should have been cleaned prior to check-in by new guests. The water, 50-amp electric, and sewer hookups worked fine.
Other than a small swimming pool and a small fenced area for dogs, there were no amenities.
In speaking with our neighbor, it became apparent that there are several people working on assignment for a nearby decommissioned nuclear power plant who live at this campground. Shady Pines caters to long-term and year-round guests as well as manufactured homes/trailers that are permanent. We were the only motorhome in the entire park. This is ok, but a sign that while this place suits their needs, it doesn’t do much to attract couples and families on overnight trips and vacations.
Due to the sloped and not-so-clean sites, lack of amenities, and full-price rate charged, we won’t be back.

This is our first stay at this Thousand Trails resort.
We had a reservation that we made using the App. The app did not allow us to book a stay starting on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday so we checked in on Sunday. The reason i mention this is that when set up in our site our neighbor told us that there were plenty of empty sites all the previous week - he stays here frequently and recommended calling rather than using the Thousand Trails app.
Next note - the resort did not reserve a particular site and suggested that we drive around and select the one we liked. That was ok and we got a nice level site with a concrete pad under the picnic table. Partially shaded. Consideration - As we have a class B unit we will be in and out of the site - we needed some way to designate that the site was taken if we went out. The resort did not plan for this ( see later note ) but they did come out and give us a length of caution tape to us to block the site.
This is a fairly large place. The sites are clean but small. Far and away this resort is used by seasonal and cabin campers. They only have a few ( maybe 25 or so) transient sites which they seem to allocate on on a first come first serve basis. If you have a class b and plan to go in an out i recommend you bring some sort of indicator to mark your site as occupied.
We came in late September so the pool was closed but the lake side beach was still open. The beach was clean and had beach chairs.
The camp store has limited offerings, was not open on Mon and Tue, and closed at 4. This may have been because we were late in the season.

Management was excellent. As encore park, cleaned up mess of reservations that thousand trails made for us. Facilities and pool are good. But seasonal campers are entitled and don't follow rules. Loud. F/bombing. Dangerous golf carts going the wrong way at high speeds.

We weren't sure about this campground. We booked through Thousand Trails and you can't reserve sites. Our trailer is 37 feet long, so there is always the concern we won't find any sites will fit in (we actually cancelled the membership for this reason). While we didn't have a problem finding sites, the first night we stayed our neighbors were partying late into the night- not good when we have two young children with us. We moved the next morning and our next site was wonderful- much larger and quieter. The girls loved swimming in the lake and the pool. We were only a short drive from the beach, as well. It was a very nice campground.

Stayed at Site 7. Very spacious and moderately shaded. Nice and flat site. The only issues were the RV “resort” very close by, Very loud music at night from about 8-11. The ticks were out and about. Be prepared! Other than that it was ok.

There’s a ton of camping at Elk Neck, including a loop with full hook ups. In the full hook up loop pay close attention to the lengths specified. The actual pads are fairly level but some of the driveways to them are very sloped. Long rigs will have issues in a few of the sites.
There’s a camp store, boat ramp, swimming, fishing and lots,of great hiking. Definitely drive to, and then hike to the light house (open most weekends) the light house and the view are definitely worth it.
RangerWe stayed in the small tent loop at this private, primarily RV resort. First, the good stuff: The tent loop was empty for our 5 night stay with the exception of night 1. We were at site F17.
Bathrooms were cleaned multiple times each day, showers were warm.
There is a laundry facility. It's about $6 to wash and dry a load. There is no change machine that we could find.
If you have kids that are aged 6 and up, they are going to love this place.
Staff were nice and made several trips to the tent loop to make sure all was well.

And now the stuff we didn't like:
Well, it's an RV resort. The tent loop is crowded, site-wise, and I cannot imagine how packed together you'd be if every site was full.
The signage is almost non-existent. We drove right by the tent loop twice and there are no obvious "Loop A" etc signs. The tent loop is all the way in the back next to the pond.
If you are arriving after office hours, 6pm or so, you have to call to get a gate code. Otherwise, you are locked out.
Everyone has a golf cart and will drive into the tent loop to look at you as if you are a wildebeest and they're on safari.
Parents of small children and toddlers: the tent loop is surrounded by water on 3 sides. There is no safety fence. The water is mostly standing water so expect mosquitoes.
Site F 17 is the lowest point of the tent loop,which won't be a problem unless it rains. Unfortunately, it rained 3 inches one day and I literally dug a trench around the tent to keep it dry. F15 is on the high side and slightly larger site, request it if you can.
On Saturday night, there is a DJ and a dance party from 7-10 pm. It is extraordinarily loud and somewhat impossible to navigate a car through that many people. Plan on staying out of the resort or completely inside if you are up for it.
(I'm sorry for the photos; I didn't have my phone and had to use someone else's phone to take photos. It was also torrentially raining so I didn't venture outside of the canopy!)
RangerI want to start off by saying that I did not camp here. I live close enough though that I thought I would make the drive and check it out since it was not previously reviewed.
This is a run down hotel with "long term" rv campers.
I felt unsafe enough and uncomfortable enough that I never even got out of my car and didn't bother getting photos. I'm actually happy I didn't bring my kids with me to check out this site.
Would avoid at all costs if possible.

I liked this place. Despite the shutdowns with Corona, they made every attempt to hold activites every day. You had to sign up for pool slots, but there was plenty of openings. Pool was lovely and well maintained. There is an 11 mile rail trail across the street as well. The negative would be the number of long term sites, but the campground was overall clean and the staff were all very nice.

This campground is on Dover Air Force Base so you must be able to access the base with a Department of Defense identification card. There are only 10 sites, all are full hook-ups - water, electric & sewage. There is also a bath house with 2 toilets & 1 shower in the men’s & women’s area and a laundry with one washer & one dryer (coin operated). It is $20 a night and reservations are accepted up to 90 days in advance.

We wanted a chill-out weekend and are so glad we spent it at Spacious Skies Country Oaks. This was our third visit to this campground and it’s obvious that the current owners are making efforts to spruce it up.
We stayed in pull-thru site#12 which was level, covered in clean gravel, had a concrete patio with picnic table and Adirondack chairs, and a nice fire ring. The site was big enough for our motor home. Full hook-ups with 50-amp service all worked fine.
There’s nothing much to do in the area without driving 45+ minutes away, so make this your destination of you’re looking for a restful time away from home.
The Wi-Fi actually worked great. When was the last time you could actually say that?
Bottom line: We enjoyed our time at Spacious Skies Country Oaks and can’t wait to go back!

We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting family In Philadelphia. It is a 20 minute ride into Philly and Uber was was quick and responsive.
*note- this does close for winter and reopens in April but call park for exact closure dates because they do change.
This is a nice KOA with full hook ups, tent sites,cabins, and even glamping cabins. There is a pool that is open Memorial Day- Labor Day. They also have a catch and release pond and we found a pickleball court at a nearby city park.
We did Chinatown and walked part of the Schuylkill River trail which we accessed by parking near Fairmount Park. This is a great area to explore with gorgeous views and easy access to the River trail. (There are rentals for everything here- kayaks/bikes etc)
IF we had a car with us- we would have considered taking the ferry from Camden’s Ferry Terminal next to Wiggins Park to Philly. (This is also near the Adventure Aquarium and the battleship New Jersey) Here is a link to information about the ferry-

Cape henlopen is one of five or six Delaware state parks that offer RV camping. Sites vary in size so make sure you check the details before you book. Using their online campground map along with google earth will give you a pretty good idea. Water and electric hookups only. There are 3 dump stations as you exit the park which is really nice. I have never had to wait. Most sites offer good shade by the local pine trees. Nice bike trails and hiking through the dunes. They even offer free bike rentals. Clean bath houses as well. If they had Full hookups I would give 5 stars (I am spoiled I know).
LegendFinished the season at this state park in MD with full hook up (20, 30, and 50 amp, water and sewer) and the water was still on in November. Bathhouses were open with hot water. Nice clean bathhouses. Sites were level, spacious, spaced apart, with packed gravel surface. Back in and pull through sites available. Near the state forest with a rifle, archery, and handgun ranges including skeet shooting. In summer there is a beach on the North East River for swimming and the Turkey Point Lighthouse is nearby. The town of North East is close and is a quaint town with a Main Street and great little shops. Woodys famous crab house is there along with other restaurants. Turkey Point Vineyard is nearby. There are views of the Elk River from many sites. Stayed in the North East loop and there are mini cabins available as well.
TravelerStayed on the full hook-up North East loop (incline or decline into some of the sites, well spaced). Cleanest state park bathroom in all of MD! Activities included: the town of North East (15min away), loop hike to the Turkey Point Lighthouse at sunset, and hanging out on the Elk river (fishing/kayaking). At least four play grounds throughout the camp loops. The North East River, where the park’s main beach area is located had failed it’s latest bacteria level test. Check out theswimguide.org for the latest water quality tests. Only 1hr away from Baltimore and you don’t have to cross the Bay Bridge.
ScoutStayed in a drive through, patio site with full hook-ups. It was situated on a corner spot. A lot of RV, golf cart, bike, and people traffic due to the location. With all that said, the other campers were pretty respectful.
The sites were clean. Plenty of dumpsters for trash. Can’t comment on the bathrooms and bathhouses as they were closed due to covid-19. Much of the other amenities were all pretty much closed too.
The beaches are about a 10min drive, but the town is very bike friendly. A lot to explore in Cape May, and this is a great spot.
GuideNice state park. Tons of campsites. One loop has full hookups. Careful of choosing a site if you have a big rig. The loop has tight turns and some seriously non level sites. Trails are nice and well marked. The pond loop has some amazingly old growth mountain laurels and patches of ghost flowers. The Turkey Point lighthouse hike is popular go early or late to avoid waiting for a parking spot on nice weekends. Swimming and boating on the river are popular activities too.

Loved the little farm stand outside of the property on the main road. But you’re not allowed to bring yourself own firewood, even if it’s local, which I think is tacky when your charging a small fortune for a tiny bundle.
Some sites are very grassy and others are very sandy. These sites are right on top of each other. They really put as many as they could in here. If there’s a tree or something in between you and your neighbors you’re lucky! Only four total pull through sites and they are not even full hook up.
This is a cash only establishment! Everywhere! You literally have to mail them a check to hold your reservation and also they do nothing online. You can’t see availability or book on their archaic website. And calling to ask about availability and cost seems to irritate the folks answering the phone so it’s very confusing. They aren’t all that friendly. But, keep to yourself, bring cash and mind your business. You’ve stayed in worse places trust me!

My friends brought us here, they are family of 4 they have booked tents and cabins over the last 4 years. It's a very large mostly RV park with tent sites mixed in. Mostly seasonal RV people, packed to the hilt. Very large campground, yet small sites, crowded tons of people. Horrible wifi, zero cell service, small swimming area crowded on lake. Great if you are looking for a seasonal spot in an RV community obsessed with American flags and you have a young family, there's a small crowded pool, playground, etc. Boring for my teen, too crowded for my liking. Lots of activities for familiesBring tons of deet-biting flies unbearable. Not my preferred camping getaway but aside from horrible internet and zero cell service, it's a nicely run campground if you are social, have an RV and young children.
ScoutI this is just a parking lot. The tour bus drivers use it as a waiting lot. It also has a broken down marina. Very expensive. The positive it is the only close RV park to the casino area.

We went to Ocean View Resort in New Jersey to kick off the 2022 season in our new Fleetwood Discovery LXE. And we’re glad we did!
This campground is located less than two miles from Exit 17 off the Garden State Parkway. It’s located a short drive from popular shore towns including Avalon, Sea Isle City, Cape May, and Ocean City. We found the park easy to access and navigate.
The check-in process was easy and the front office staff was friendly. I appreciate being expected when stepping up to the front desk.
The most amazing part of our experience was our‘Deluxe 50 Amp Pull Thru’ site# E19. It was HUUUUUUGGGGGGE! See my photos. Our site had full hookups including 50-amp electricity, good water pressure, easily-accessed sewer connection, cable TV with limited channels(some were not clear), and Wi-Fi which was hopelessly slow. Tall trees provided some shade and privacy. The site was covered in gravel and stone, which is great because it didn’t get muddy after the rainstorm we experienced one night. I highly recommend sites E15-E27(E14 slopes too much for my preference). Most sites are seasonal trailers or-park models, but they appeared generally clean and maintained.
The campground, our site, and facilities we visited were clean and well-maintained. Not all facilities were open as the full season begins in a few weeks. The campground store carries a variety of food and drinks, camping and RV supplies, clothing, pool toys, and souvenirs. This came in handy when I needed to replace a damaged sewer hose.
It’s a good sign when it’s difficult to think of negative comments. If I’m being nit-picky, I’d share that the trash and recycling dumpsters were overflowing and unsightly. This could be because it was opening weekend. The firewood they sold was nice and dry, but they don’t deliver it to the sites. This meant I could only purchase what I could carry for my walk back to my site.(I believe offering delivery would be a major convenience for campers and result in increased sales for the campground.)
This was their opening weekend for the 2022 season. While we expected inconveniences or less-than-ideal conditions, we found the place was prepared for the new season and we had no issues. The lake, swimming pool, and cafe hadn’t opened yet, but we’ll be sure to visit those amenities during our next visit later this summer.

We just spent a full week at Sea Pirate Campground in West Creek, NJ, over July 4th, and had a(mostly) good time. This was our second visit to this campground since 2021.
We stayed in a level pull-thru site(#516) with picnic table and grill/fire pit. The site was big enough for our motor home and toad. Full hook-ups with 50-amp service. Mature shade trees made the site more comfortable given the July heat.
We had a problem with our site: extremely low water pressure, often below 20 PSI. It was so low at times, that we couldn’t take showers or flush the toilet. At some times, it was a bearable 40 PSI. I went to the office to ask for help. To their credit, someone came right away. My issue was that he told me “It gets low when other campers are using their water.” That’s a problem when you charge resort-level pricing and impose 5-night minimum stays. We paid$125/night including fees. This water issue was so bad, it may keep us from going back despite living just 90-minutes away.
A less significant issue is that the sites are sandy dirt— no gravel or concrete. This makes things extremely dirty whether it’s dry or raining. Just my opinion, but a small investment in gravel would go a long way, especially for a site labeled ‘Premium Pull-Through.’
One major upgrade since our last visit is an entirely new swimming pool. It’s beautifully done and an obviously significant investment to this area of the campground. Based on how crowded it was each day, it was probably money well-spent.
They have a great store and eatery near the pool. Purchases can be easily made using their wristbands(provided at check-in). No need to carry cash or credit cards around the campground.
The location is great because it’s close to Long Beach Island (LBI) and even closer to the Tuckerton Seaport. Lots to see and do within a 30-minute drive (depending on traffic). The campground entrance/exit is gated(which we like).
Bottom Line: This is a great campground in a great location. We may go back, but the poor water pressure will make us think about it.
