Numerous spots along the road. Some are very well shaded while others have lots of sun.
This spot is large and shaded. Rock fire pit. There’s currently fire restrictions so we didn’t have a fire but we set up a nice little sitting area around the fire with logs we found in the forested area.
There is a mama bear and cub in the area although we didn’t see her.
Weather is cooler than in Capitol Reef so it’s a nice place to recharge and escape the heat.
Lots of firewood in close vicinity so no need to bring any in with you (check for fire restrictions before).
Would definitely come back here.
If you follow the road all the way up you can access Cathedral Valley Campground (great views from up there)
Remember to pack out your garbage.
Great spot for a stay overnight! Although there isn’t water, there is a clean outhouse to use.
We loved the spot we had which was equipped with a picnic table and fire ring (all sites have this).
The views from being so high up are great. That being said the wind can get a little crazy at night so roll up those awnings before bed.
Road in is a little bumpy (we came from Highway 72) but it was a beautiful drive.
We spent 3 nights here right along the reservoir and it was great. Although it was “busy” there was plenty of space between us an our neighbours.
We rock a rooftop tent so it was easy to level. Bugs were minimal during the day. Mosquitos ramp up at night but they didn’t seem to want anything to do with us.
Saw plenty of people fishing during the day.
There are washrooms nearby but they aren’t super close to all camping areas.
We camped in the Trout loop and had a great time here. Got here on a Friday afternoon and there were only a few spots left, so I’d recommend going earlier if you can.
We landed a spot right on the water (Snake River). The river here is calm enough to paddle board on. We spent lots of time on the water and even paddled across to some rocks and did a little cliff jumping (they aren’t too high).
There’s an outhouse and it was honestly the cleanest outhouse I’ve ever used. Super impressed with that.
It was warm this time of year and our spot was nice and shady. Would definitely recommend visiting. It’s $15/night
We were really excited to stay here. The water and area is beautiful. There are 2 great shady spots right on the water. Unfortunately it looks like 2 guys are living down there and let’s say they don’t look like the friendliest for a couple of reasons. My boyfriend and I immediately got a bad vibe and decided it was best not to stay.
Great spot just 45 minutes out of Idaho Falls. Lots of sites, many are right by the river.
There are a few bathrooms along the road but may be a bit of a hike from some sites.
River is refreshing and nice to watch. Only complaint is the garbage left behind. We easily filled a garbage bag full of others trash when we first arrived. Remember to pack your garbage out to keep places like these pristine.
Absolutely love this campground. They were so accommodating when we booked a site our unit wouldn’t fit on they gladly moved us.
If you aren’t right on the water, you’re definitely a short distance away.
The amenities are great and the camp hosts are always friendly. Definitely worth staying here.
Nice little spot just off the highway. Close to Yellowstone.
We couldn’t get a spot down by the water but there are plenty of spots along the road.
Only complaint was the flies were crazy during the morning but tis the season.
Number of dispersed sites along the waters edge. The spots are spread out nicely.
Leading up to the water is a bit muddy but overall great place. Not much shade.
Little on the pricier end however there are a number of amenities such as laundry (additional cost), dish wash station, and hot showers at no additional cost.
Tent sites were a bit small but do-able and it was nice being on the water.
Quick access to west Yellowstone.
We didn’t stay at this exact site as it was taken but there one more dispersed site about a mile or so down the road.
Was nice being close to the creek and there was lots of fallen trees we used for firewood.
Quiet spot with a small amount of traffic on the road.
Didn’t see any wildlife but the horseflies were a bit out of control this time of the year.
