Had to hike in because it was closed to vehicles when my wife and I went. It was a fun and beautiful hike. Plenty of campsites!
Had a blast at Yellowstone and Jackson Hole. We stayed in tents at Madison Arm, they had a store, firewood, food, tables, fire rings,
It is a bit of a drive up Spanish Fork Canyon but it is a beautiful campsite with great fishing. We caught crawfish, and really good size brown and rainbow trout!
The springs are a bit of a hike but they are a blast once you get there. They are very warm and a lot of fun! I went at night with my wife and it was a great date spot! We had the part we went to for ourselves.
Great view and free place to camp. Easy to drive in and not too far from the local hotsprings. Pretty informal beyond the grills, campsites are close together with no trees to divide or provide privacy. No water available.
We had a hard time finding a camping spot in June. Fish Lake campgrounds fill up so fast. Frying pan was convenient and well organized. They have tent and RV spots, water, picnic tables, and fire rings. There are not many trees for coverage from wind and I did not find wood for purchase directly at the campsite but there are small convenient stores about 7 min away around Fish Lake.
Really nice place to get away. They have organized campsites that are about $30 a night with camp rings, water, and grills and there are free camping just a bit further up the road. It's also a great place for hunting big game and upland birds like grouse.
Just a little further past Wolf Creek Campground, you can reach Duchesne Ridge where there are beautiful views, and free camping. There aren't formal camp sites here but there is plenty of space and excellent scenery. I went camping here for two weeks during the elk bow hunt and it was a fantastic time. It's a great place for hunting grouse too!
Not too far up Payson Canyon, this campground was easy to get to and a lot of fun to camp at. It's about 15-20 minutes from the mouth of Payson Canyon. It was dark when we got there but it was easy to find firewood and they have metal and concrete fire rings. Set up was quick and it was a really good time!
They regularly stock the lakes here with Brook Trout and Rainbow Trout. It is a fantastic place to bring your kids for fishing. It's only about 25 minutes up Payson Canyon, it has a great backwoods feel but includes good parking, close campgrounds and a paved path around the biggest of the Payson Lakes, Big East Lake. Every time I have fished here, I have caught fish and most times I catch my daily limit.
This is one of the closest campgrounds to Provo. It is quick and easy for the kind of trip to just get away but it won't feel like you are backwoods because of the smallness of the park and closeness to a very busy highway through Provo Canyon. Really close to the beautiful Bridal Veil Falls.
