      Rutlader Outpost RV Park

      Great Campground

We’re from Kansas City and there are very few options when it comes to Campgrounds. This is by far our favorite and their rates are very reasonable. We enjoyed our stay, staff was very friendly and the park was clean and easy to get in and out of. You’re also very close to Hillsdale State Park, but this location has a tornado shelter 🤣

The park: great store, laid out well, gravel sites. Some are back in but most are pull through. Full hook ups- power/water/sewer.

72 Sites: 30' wide, 60' long and level 24 Sites are pull thru All have 30 & 50 amp service

You are within 40 minutes of southern Overland Park, and within approximately an hour (depending on traffic) to Kansas City.

Amenities: Laundry Storm Shelter Showers Meeting room available for RV Rallies (Must Schedule) Fishing Lake

Cellular: service was good, able to stream video, work, Facebook, etc.

Rates as of April 2020 (from their site):

-DAY RATE: $45.00 -CLUB RATE: $40.00 (Good Sam's, FMCA, AAA, Military) -WEEKLY: $215 -MONTHLY: $575 Back In $700 Pull Through (if not paid by due date, Day Rate will apply.)

      Cozy Corner RV Park

      Cozy location south of Clinton

Nice park that has flat/level sites with 50/30 full hookups. Salt water pool, play ground, camp store with onsite storage available for campers or boats, this is a great place to be if you want to do some fishing or hunting at Truman Lake.

Small pond on site and storm shelter. Cell coverage a bit shaky- park has wifi

Increase in the number of RVers has this place packed so a quick call and reservation to hold the site is recommended

      Great owners

      Damsite

      Good fishing and great views

Very peaceful campground. It has a peninsula with some nice, shady sites but also another very wooded area on a bluff. The backside of the peninsula has zero shade (sites 26-40). All sites have good picnic tables and fire rings. Sites near the dump station can be very aromatic. No swim beach but you can access the water straight from the rocky shore. A lot of people tie their boats to shore below their campsite. There is a gas station/trading post right outside the entrance. And a tasty little restaurant with all kinds of sandwiches and ice cream treats. Beautiful sunrises and the sun sets over the dam. I really like this campground. Family friendly and everyone seems to have a dog:) but people do a good job of picking up after them.

      Gunn Park

      Nice quiet campground

We have stayed there about 6 times. Very quiet. Needs some renovations. Sites are not level and need either more gravel or concrete. Most of the sites are 30 amp and no dump station. Water and electric only.

Big rigs at some of the sites will have a problem. Renember this is a old campground. Fishing from the shore is great no boats. Adult children ( seniors) lol are there every day looking to catch dinner.

      Turkey Creek RV Park

      Nice Campground! Nice and Quiet!

Turkey Creek was a very nice campground for our month long stay.  The park is well maintained and clean.  It is very quiet!  There is a train track nearby, but we only heard it a few times during our stay.

Amenities included full hook up, laundry room, bathrooms, showers and a fenced dog park where you 4 legged friends can enjoy some off-leash time.  We had 4 bars with AT&T and waffled between 1-3 bars with Verizon.

The location is great for visiting local attractions such as Branson Landing, Silver Dollar City and Top of the Rock.

Really appreciate the park manager, she was friendly and brought an overpayment to our attention and quickly issued a refund.

      Great experience overall!

Raccoon Ridge — Harry S Truman State Park

Shaded, Quiet and close to the lake!

Site 36 with 30A & 120V. Public Water Spigot about 50’ away. No Sewer or Water connections at Raccoon Ridge. Plenty of dead kindling and wood around to burn. Asphalt drive with concrete pad. Picnic table, fire/grill ring, hook post w/ recycle bag attached. BEST Site is 38 which puts trailer door parallel with a 180 lake view. Heavy wooded with shared paths to lake or cove. Marina is within 1 mile by water or 15 minutes by car. Ice, Beer and necessities at Puddle Jumpers Bait Store about 10 minute drive. Hosts were great and did cleaning daily. Showers and Dump Station at top of hill few hundred yards away. Let shower water run about 3 minutes before the warm water kicks in. Swim beach is on other side of cove or about a 5 min drive. Dump Station has 4 Waste Holes, two Non-potable water spigots/hoses and one Fresh Potable Water hose and both sides have slight incline on dump tank side. Downtown Warsaw is about 15 minutes away with tourist antique shoppes, bars, ice cream shoppes and the historic Joe Dice Suspension Bridge. The Truman Dam is about same distance away. T-Mobile service with 2-3 bars, no WIFI; but HotSpot worked for ROKU. Keep food and bait inside as raccoons rule at night. Be CAUTIOUS of Red Ticks that are VERY tiny… you’ll want plenty of DEET! Flies were biting like crazy, some mosquitoes and LOTS of May Flies. You’ll see Bald Eagles, raccoons. deer, squirrels, chipmunks, hawks, turtles and FISHING near wooded edge of cove is Bass and Crappie haven!!! Also Geocaching near by!!!

We will return and hopefully get site 38!

      Damsite

      Another amazing COE campground

Another wonderful Corps of Engineers campground on Pomme De Terre Lake. There are basic campsites and campsites with full hookups. The campsites are spacious and overlook the lake. This is such a beautiful, well maintained campground. Every campsite is level and has a picnic table and fire ring. During the off season ( Oct 1 - Nov.30 & March 14th - Apr 14 ) all campsites ( electric and primitive ) are only $10. ( limited amenities) From Jan 5th - March 14th campsites are free at Damsite Park. However, there is no electric or water available at that time.
Please check the Pomme De Terre USACE website for changes and regular season rates. 50% off all rates with America the beautiful/senior access pass at all Corps of Engineers campgrounds.
I highly recommend this campground. 4g LTE and great cell signal.

      Cozy Corner RV Park

      Nice private park

This park is privately owned. It has a very nice in ground pool along with a storm shelter which gives piece of mind in crazy Missouri weather. Shade seems to be scarce at a lot of the sites (all are full hook up I believe). They have what seems to be quite a few full time campers living here. Hard to get through on phone lines to book and no online booking options but overall a very clean campground with friendly owners.

Raccoon Ridge — Harry S Truman State Park

Loud bugs, but solitude and shade aplenty

This is a well equipped campground within the Harry S Truman State Park, close to the official welcome center, and hosts a variety of nice features for campers. Sites are basic (fire pit, picnic table) and can also accommodate RVs thanks to electric hookups and a dumping station. There's water available, along with showers, bathrooms, and laundry facilities.

The roads in the area are prime for bike riding, and there's a nice view of the lake from the nearby boat loading bay.

    Guide to Schell City

RV parks near Schell City, Missouri offer access to the rolling grasslands of western Missouri with average elevations around 850 feet. The area experiences hot, humid summers with temperatures often exceeding 90°F and cold winters that can drop below freezing. Most campgrounds in the region feature level gravel sites that accommodate various RV sizes with standard hookup options.

    What to do

Fishing opportunities: The small fishing pond at Cozy Corner RV Park provides a convenient option for campers wanting to cast a line without traveling far. "Nice park that has flat/level sites with 50/30 full hookups. Salt water pool, play ground, camp store with onsite storage available for campers or boats, this is a great place to be if you want to do some fishing or hunting at Truman Lake," notes Dan & Penny F.

Mini golf for families: Children staying at Osage Prairie RV Park can enjoy the on-site mini golf course, providing entertainment without leaving the campground. "I knew within minutes of check in that we picked the right overnight stop. The couple who runs the place couldn't be better. Great site with mini golf for the kids too," shared Evan L.

Wildlife viewing: Many parks in the area offer opportunities to spot local wildlife including deer, turkey, and various bird species. At Deer Run RV Park & Campground, "You may see deer, and birds, squirrels, Chipmunks, sometimes turkey," according to Denise D., highlighting the natural setting of this quieter park.

    What campers like

Quiet, private settings: Many RV parks in the Schell City region offer peaceful environments away from major highways. "Greeted by the owner and directed to our site. Once parked and hooked up, we were visited once more by the owner to see if anything else was needed. Pleasant, quiet, and friendly experience," reports James H. about Arrowhead Point RV Park & Cabins.

Budget-friendly rates: Campgrounds in this area tend to be more affordable than parks in more touristy regions. Nicole S. noted about Deer Run RV Park, "Nice little privately owned campground with a great value for your $. Definitely off the beaten path but full hookups for $15 per night."

Clean facilities: Well-maintained amenities are frequently mentioned in reviews. "The host was very kind and helpful. The park is beautiful and very clean!" writes Alexandra C. about Cozy Corner RV Park.

    What you should know

Cell service limitations: Mobile connectivity varies significantly throughout the Schell City area, with several parks having limited coverage. Nicole S. noted at Deer Run RV Park, "No T-Mobile service. Kinda backwoods and could definitely use some updating but pleasant all the same."

Highway noise: Some RV parks near Schell City are situated close to highways, which can create noise issues for light sleepers. Kevin L. mentioned about Osage Prairie RV Park, "Next to busy highway and trains," giving the park a 2-star rating due to noise levels.

Limited off-season availability: While some parks operate year-round, services may be reduced during winter months. Osceola RV Park operates seasonally from "mid March to November 30," making winter camping options more limited in the region.

    Tips for camping with families

Pool access for summer cooling: During hot Missouri summers, having pool access can make a significant difference for families. Dan & Penny F. noted that Cozy Corner RV Park offers a "Salt water pool, play ground, camp store with onsite storage available for campers or boats."

Playground availability: When traveling with children, parks with play areas provide valuable recreation options. Sidetrack RV Park offers "Perfect Location & Amazing Amenitites... the community building is great entertainment," according to Chipper S.

Space considerations: Request sites with adequate room for children to play safely. At Arrowhead Point RV Park, Alana R. advises, "We had reserved a spot that would have been too small for our rig. Owner had already caught my mistake on check in and moved us to a better spot. Shady spots, #22 is best."

    Tips from RVers

Late arrival protocols: For those arriving after office hours, knowing the check-in procedure is important. Kelsey R. shared about i49 Rv Park: "This place we found super late, and was well marked and easy to access. There are street lights marking the parking areas which does leak some light but you're able to see the bathrooms."

Site leveling requirements: Many reviews mention leveling needs at various parks. James G. noted at Osage Prairie RV Park, "Site #46, long enough for tt and truck, gravel, full hookup... needed two blocks to level, some mature trees, some short sites, some longer, make sure to ask for longer."

Storm shelter access: Given Missouri's severe weather potential, some RV parks offer storm shelters. Amanda C. mentioned that Cozy Corner RV Park "has a very nice in ground pool along with a storm shelter which gives piece of mind in crazy Missouri weather."
