Several RV campgrounds near Raytown, Missouri offer concrete pads and full hookups with varying access conditions. Campus RV Park in Independence features concrete sites with 50-amp service, operating year-round with easy access to downtown Kansas City. "Great location and nice staff. The spaces are smaller although it's in a shady area," noted one traveler. Worlds of Fun Village provides paved RV sites with 50-amp electric, water and sewer connections, but operates seasonally from March through October. Stadium RV Park offers big rig access with 50-amp hookups on sites that one reviewer described as "small and tight" with leveling challenges. Walnut Grove RV Park in Merriam maintains 50 sites with both 30-amp and 50-amp connections, with premium pull-through sites recommended for larger rigs.

Advance reservations are strongly recommended at most parks, particularly during Chiefs football games and summer weekends. Road noise affects some properties, especially Worlds of Fun Village where sites along the highway experience 24-hour traffic sounds. Most parks provide sanitary dump stations, though Stadium RV Park lacks this amenity. Laundry facilities are limited in the area, with Lake Paradise Resort being one of the few offering this service. Cell service is generally strong throughout the region due to the metropolitan location. Gate access codes are required at some facilities for security purposes. Pet policies vary between properties, with most allowing pets but imposing breed or size restrictions.

Prairie Clover Campground — Clinton State Park

The price is good. We paid just under 13usd for a basic primitive site. The bathrooms are limited and pretty rough as one might expect. Otherwise, we found it quiet, peaceful and pretty. Good location to Laurence and get a good coffee and donut.

      coneflower campground

Lots of big sites in Cornflower loop some shaded. Bathroom needs an update; I wouldn’t use the shower as too disgusting so can’t rate the water temperature.

      Crow's Creek Campground

Best in KC area price wise camping

Free laundry, (only 1 washer & dryer per bath area) showers, and right on the lake. Has tent camping up to 14 days, and its pretty laid back and clean. Huge facilities, no electric for tent spots but they have it in bathrooms. Fire pits and picnic table. Buy 3- get 4 nights for seniors 62+.

      Blue Springs Lake Campground

Host was very nice, just outside city so access to what you need if you go north, access to hiking and country if you go south. I got concrete slab and full hookups. Showers and restrooms clean.

Prairie Clover Campground — Clinton State Park

We set up our little camper trailer in one of the primitive loops, backed into the trees. Access to the white and blue trail loops from the campground either via some rickety stairs or from a trail next to the cabins. Relatively close to the bathroom and shower house for water. Campsite was great, but the campground in general could use a little bit of trash pickup and general spiffing up

Owl Creek Market and RV Park

Crowded and expensive for what's offered

Very crowded. Sites on top of each other and over priced for what it offers. Nice showers but only 2 for over a hundred sites. Would not recommend.

Great Escape RV Park & Campground

      Nice but noise from highway

Nice place. Two small ponds. Good shower and laundry facilities. Spaces close together but not very full campground. They do charge $5/ guest if you have someone come to visit you while camping.

    Guide to Raytown

Camping options near Raytown, Missouri include both urban and suburban RV parks located across the metro region at varied elevations from 800 to 1,100 feet. Summer temperatures average 85-95°F with high humidity levels from June through August, creating potential comfort challenges for tent campers. Most area campgrounds remain open year-round with winter months offering significantly reduced occupancy rates.

    What to do

Explore water recreation options: Worlds of Fun Village provides convenient access to Oceans of Fun water park. "All RV sites were concrete with 50/30/20 amp, water and sewer. Back-in sites on rows 1 and 3 and pull through sites on row 2. The theme park offered discounted tickets when staying at the campground and parking for the parks was included," notes John L.

Visit historic Independence: Campus RV Park offers access to historical sites in downtown Independence. "Just 30 minutes to downtown Kansas City and maybe 15 minutes to arrowhead stadium, this campground is ideal for being close to everything that Kansas City offers," explains Wendy T. The centralized location makes day trips efficient.

Fish at local lakes: Basswood Country RV Resort features five small fishing lakes with no license required. "You could fish in the lakes and didn't even need a license. We watched kids get excited as they caught fish after fish," shares Shannon G. The campground offers rod rentals at the camp store for travelers without equipment.

    What campers like

Urban convenience: Walnut Grove RV Park offers a central location for exploring Kansas City. "I like the location it's close to where I was working and close to downtown so lots of things to do in the area. The Wi-Fi is working well as I am working online from this location," explains Bob M.

Seasonal pools: Lake Paradise Resort offers swimming facilities during summer months. "The pool is renovated and very nice. It is very large, zero entry, up to mostly around 5 ft deep with a small area that was 9ft; there is a children's area with a sprinkler," explains Julie B.

Affordable options: Mayview RV Park provides budget-friendly camping with minimal frills. "Can't beat $20 a night for full hookup. Small park right next to it that the kids enjoyed. 20 sites total but less than half were occupied," notes Rocio C. The affordability allows longer stays without breaking vacation budgets.

    What you should know

Airport proximity: Several RV parks near Raytown sit under flight paths. "The campground is on the final approach for the airport, so you get to see a lot planes flying overhead, which you don't even notice cause they are quieter than they used to be," notes Brian A. at Basswood Country RV Resort.

Crowding at peak times: Campgrounds fill quickly during events. "We reserved our days in advance and if we need to cancel we just change our reservation to a different date with no fees," shares E C. about managing reservations at Worlds of Fun Village.

Variable cell coverage: Trailside RV Park offers modest connectivity. "Phone/internet service is low average," reports Kris M. Visitors should download maps and entertainment content before arrival at more rural locations.

Highway noise considerations: Traffic noise affects multiple campgrounds. "Row 1 (sites 1-20) is along a busy highway with semi truck noise 24 hours a day. I recommend either paying more for the pull-through (further from the road) or the back in sites 69-82 in row 3," advises John L.

    Tips for camping with families

Look for activity programming: Basswood Country RV Resort offers structured activities. "Every weekend there are organized activities such as arts and crafts, fishing contests, duck races and frozen t-shirt contests in the pool, and a Saturday evening outdoor movie," explains Tori G.

Consider seasonal timing: Worlds of Fun Village offers different experiences depending on when you visit. "Stopped here on our way south for spring break. The amusement park was not open yet, so the campground area was relatively quiet and the price for full hookups was not bad," reports Deb M.

Evaluate playground options: Country Gardens RV Park provides family amenities. "There is a pool, bathrooms, laundry, and a cute little country store here. It appears they are expanding or at least have recently added camping spots," notes Caleb P. The playground includes swings and climbing equipment for different age groups.

    Tips from RVers

Select premium spots when available: For larger rigs, premium sites offer significant advantages. "Pay more for the pull through you'll have tons of parking even if your rig is big. Our rig is 44 ft and we parked two 2500's on the pad no problem," advises E C. about Worlds of Fun Village.

Plan for tight navigation: Some parks require careful maneuvering. "The sites were very small and close. Our site was not very level," reports Charles F. about Stadium RV Park.

Consider elevation challenges: Some campgrounds feature significant grade changes. "Sites were on gravel and very close to each other. Walnut Grove was both short and long term campers," notes Shannon G. Bringing extra leveling blocks helps address uneven sites.

Evaluate park road conditions: Interior roads vary significantly between properties. "The road in camp was rough so drive slow," cautions Larry M. about Country Gardens RV Park. Slower speeds protect both equipment and enhance safety.
