Nice large grass pads, easily accessible for big rigs! Close to the lake(mom and I went for some bike rides around the lake) and public boat access. Each site had a picnic table and a fire ring provided. All sites have power, water, and sewer hook ups.

      Lake Carlos State Park Campground

      Beautiful and quiet

End of October, Stopped for just one night, probably about a 20ish minute drive from 94. Was able to purchase firewood after closing, and the campsite were easy to find after (7$)entry to the park. Campsites are reserved through an online system. We found the top campsite completely empty and plenty of sites had good tree coverage for privacy/ way no protection. Nice level sites with soft ground. Each site had a fire ring and picnic table. The only bathroom in walking distance to the upper campsites was a vault toilet located amongst the cabins. Seems like a great place to stay any season.

      Outdoors Inn Campground

      Great location next to Chippewa

      Recommended!

We had a full hookups with 50 amp service. Our site was next to US-12 and had no noise issues. The Chippewa river flows next to the camp and the adjoining river bank is woodlands. We had no insect issues. There is a super dog park and grocery just east on US-12. Found great coffee and scones in Benson at Go Set Ready Coffee.

Our site had a great camp fire pit made from a half sphere about 40 inches in diameter. Looked like the bottom of a buoy or end of a 250 lbs propane tank. The proprietor is an arborist and sold us a large bundle of hard wood that made great smores.

We picked Benson because of its close location to Glacial Lake state park and the Glacial Ridge Trail. Just take MN-29 north.  The topology change in terrain from the farm lands around Benson to the rolling hills and lakes north on MN-29 is great. Continue on MN-29 to Starbuck for a sizable lake. Take some time and explore the back roads on and around the Glacial Ridge Trail. There are many hills, forests and lakes you can explore east up to New London.

We had an encounter with a pair of swans on the side of the road next to a lake. These are large beautiful birds! We stopped in the car, kept our distance, watched from inside of the car and enjoyed them before the slipped back into the lake.

      Two Rivers Campground

      Pleasant family camp

This is a well kept and well run campground tucked in between the Mississippi River and the outlet of the Platte River. The emphasis is on RV camping, and a large percentage of the sites are for full season May to October rentals. However there are nightly and weekly rates with both full and partial hookups, and some basic tent sites in a nice location right on the river. Daily and weekly campsite rentals are a bit expensive, however the campground offers many resort amenities that arent part of usual campgrounds such as a full service lodge, large beautiful pool as well as a beach on the river, mini golf, canoes and kayaks, and their specialty: river tubing. The pluses at this location include nice river setting, great amenties, secure family-friendly grounds, and a variety of on site services. The monthly RV site rental is about $800 a month for a bluff side site which might be a nice retreat for families or retirees. The minuses are primarily that the nightly rental is not cheap, especially if you want to tent camp, but fir some folks the amenities might be worthwhile. Summer is peak season if course, it is quieter and cheaper in the fall and spring.

      Camp S'more Campground

      Family friendly local campground

This is a quiet and fairly small but impeccably maintained campground located near the town of Long Prairie. It would be a nice family friendly destination for an easy lical get away. There are weekly, monthly and seasonal site rentals with RV hookups, plus they do have a fully furnished on-site RV available to rent for those who dont have their own. The owners clearly take pride in maintaining the campground and in building a friendly camp community for families

      Sinclair Lewis City Campground

      Family Camping and more

This is an impeccably maintained city-campground that shows the local are proud of “Our Town” and native son Sinclair Lewis, the hometown American author. Just blocks from the original Main Street, the campground is in the west end of the beautiful lakeside city park. Not only can you camp here in safety and comfort in a family-friendly setting (neighborly camping community, great playgrounds, fishing at your doorstep while but but a close walk to Main Street for unique shops snd cafes) but there are a host of community events that happen in the park, including concerts at a beautiful historic bandstand, art fair and similar events, and an annual 4-day festival in mid-July that celebrates Sauk Centre and all things Sinclair Lewis. Campground rates are extremely reasonable ($15 a night for tent sites, $30 a night for an RV site with full hookups) plus there are weekly, monthly, and seasonal rates. This is a great place for retired local snowbirds to stay in the summer, and a nice regional camping spot for families with kids or folks who would like a home base for day trips in the area including treks on the Lake Woebegone Trail. Check out this local website for activity ideas! http://www.visitsaukcentre.org

Overall, High marks for great maintainence, convenient location, and family oriented setting; however, though the lakeshore is pretty, the lake does have a problem with zebra musells, and many of the RV sites are located pretty close together.

      Chippewa Park

      Nice camp views overlooking water

Chippewa County Park offers 15 overnight camping spots with a 2 night minimum for $30 each night. Each site has a fire ring & picnic table and sites 7-12 have lake views which are beautiful. Sites are 20/30/50 amp and spacious but pretty open to other sites. There is a lot of tree coverage within the park so shade is in abundance.

    Guide to Elrosa

Camping opportunities near Elrosa, Minnesota range from full-service RV resorts to seasonal regional parks across Stearns County and surrounding areas. The region sits at approximately 1,200 feet elevation in central Minnesota's glacial terrain, characterized by numerous lakes and rolling farmland. Most campgrounds in the area operate from May through October due to Minnesota's cold winters, with summer temperatures typically ranging from 65-85°F.

    What to do

Disc golf and outdoor activities: Andes RV Park offers multiple recreational options beyond standard camping. "The park offers a fantastic range of activities, including golf cart rentals, volleyball, horseshoes, disc golf, pickle ball, etc…and in winter, cross-country skiing and tubing—there's something for everyone!" according to a visitor.

Lake recreation and fall colors: Lake Koronis Regional Park provides access to water activities with scenic views. "We came for the fall colors!! They were beautiful! Canoed all day out on the lake!" shares one camper. The park includes a beach area, picnic facilities, and playground for varied recreational options.

Swimming and mini golf: Several RV parks near Elrosa feature swimming pools and family activities. "Inground, heated swimming pool; mini golf; pickleball; tennis; arcade room attached to the office. Ice cream shop has 8 flavors of hand-dipped yum!" notes a visitor at Cokato Lake RV Resort, which maintains 225 sites approximately 40 miles southeast of Elrosa.

    What campers like

Clean facilities: St. Cloud-Clearwater RV Park earns positive reviews for maintenance. "Clean bathrooms with hot water, clean laundry room," reports one camper. Another notes, "Pool was clean, everything is so well marked, lots of shade/grass."

Spacious sites: Campers appreciate parks that provide adequate room between sites. At Westrich RV Park, one reviewer mentioned, "Stayed here with a large group of family and had a site big enough for all of our rigs. We brought our own firepits due to the size of the site we had."

Friendly management: Personal attention from staff enhances the camping experience at regional RV parks. "The owners are onsite and very friendly people," reports a Westrich RV Park visitor. At Andes RV Park, a camper noted, "Friendly service was in the easy check-in and checkout process."

    What you should know

Winter availability: Most RV parks near Elrosa close seasonally, but limited options exist. Love's RV Hookup remains open year-round. "Still open in the winter! Convenient location right off I94 and HWY 23," notes one camper. Another mentioned, "If you're just passing through especially in the off-season, this is an extremely convenient location."

Site orientation issues: Some campgrounds have design limitations. At Lake Koronis Regional Park, a camper observed, "Pretty disappointed to arrive and be in a backwards site. This is a back-in only site and yet the site is backwards. The firepit is on the backend of the camper instead of the front."

Wi-Fi variability: Internet access can be unreliable at RV parks throughout the region. One camper at St. Cloud Campground noted, "It was the worst wifi of about 15 campgrounds we've been to on our trip this year. They warned us it was slow, but we couldn't even connect to it from our site."

    Tips for camping with families

Playground access: St. Cloud Campground & RV Park provides family-friendly amenities. "Nice facilities including 2 bathroom facilities, playground, volleyball court, dog walking area, baseball field, a lodge with games and a store, and a hall where they hold bingo and other events," describes one visitor.

Bug preparation: Minnesota summers can bring heavy insect activity. At Andes RV Park, a camper advised, "Side note: if coming in summer make sure to bring plenty of bug spray!!!"

Swimming options: Many RV parks near Elrosa feature pools rather than natural swimming areas. "No lake but a pool. More like an RV Park although they do have rustic sites," notes a visitor about St. Cloud Campground & RV Park.

    Tips from RVers

Late arrivals: For travelers needing overnight stays, Love's RV Hookup offers convenience. "Propane run out in the middle of the night? They got you. Need more beer? They got you. 10/10 if you just need a place to sleep," shares one RVer.

Road surface considerations: Several RV parks around Elrosa maintain gravel internal roads. At Westrich RV Park, a visitor noted, "Road through the campground is dirt," which can affect dust levels during dry periods or create muddy conditions after rain.

Dump station availability: Not all RV parks near Elrosa offer full hookup capabilities. Alexandria Shooting Park and RV Campground provides "level sites with water & electric" and maintains a dump station, though individual sites lack sewer connections.
