Rapidan Dam Co Park

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Paddle boarding on the Blue Earth River draws visitors to Rapidan Dam Co Park, a county-run campground outside Lake Crystal, Minnesota, where wooded sites line the riverbank and water access is a consistent draw across seasons. The park runs from early April through late October, giving paddlers and anglers a long window to work with. Sites are separated by trees, which provides natural spacing without requiring campers to travel far from their vehicles.

The road in warrants attention before arrival. Multiple reviewers flag the access as narrow and rough, and Skip H. notes it's "small trails for car/tent camping. Not trailer friendly." Large rigs should look elsewhere. On foot or by small vehicle, the sites themselves include picnic tables, fire rings, and hand-pump water sources. Outhouses serve as the restroom facilities. Firewood is available on-site, and the campground has trash service.

At the entrance, a family-owned food shop sells ice cream and fast food, which reviewers mention consistently as a practical plus. Minneopa State Park Campground sits roughly five miles north for campers who need hookups or more developed infrastructure. Sandy paths through some sites can make cycling in a challenge, so cyclists should expect to dismount in spots. Reservations are available, and pets are permitted throughout the park.

Super spot!

This is a great spot with numerous sites along the river. Small trails for car/ tent camping. Not trailer friendly. Small vehicles only. At the foot of the road in there a small food/ice cream shop with friendly staff.

Secluded and Quiet

Great primitive only sites. Cycling into sites can be difficult because some have lots of sand on the path.

Sketchy

My girlfriend and I drove through the park before we booked a campsite and I’m glad we did! It was rough. We did not spend the night even though there were plenty of openings.
