Several RV campgrounds offer full-hookup accommodations near Tiverton, Rhode Island, ranging from seasonal parks with complete amenities to sites with water and electric only. Newport RV Park, located in Portsmouth, offers 175 sites with 30/50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections, operating from April through October. Meadowlark RV Park in Middletown provides water and electric hookups, though without shower facilities or toilets, and remains open from April to December. Carr Point Recreation Facility in Newport features RV sites with water and electric hookups but lacks sewer connections and shower facilities. Most parks accommodate big rigs, with Newport RV Park featuring a mix of wooded and open field sites with stone pads that may require leveling equipment. "Our site was not angled and that made it tougher to get in to it."

RV travelers should note that many sites throughout the region require advance reservations, particularly during summer months when Newport's attractions draw crowds. Newport RV Park, despite being advertised as five miles from downtown, is actually closer to eight miles from historic Newport, making transportation planning essential for visitors without towed vehicles. Dump stations are limited, with Newport offering on-site service while Carr Point users must pay $20 at Newport RV Park. Pet policies vary between parks, though most are pet-friendly with Newport RV Park offering convenient access to a large dog park. Seasonal availability differs significantly, with Meadowlark remaining open until December 1 while most others close by October 31. A camper noted that Newport RV Park "is a very clean, small campground that's easy to access" with good proximity to attractions.

      A Really Enjoyable Camping

After a busy summer, we wanted somewhere we could just park the camper and slow down for a few days. Sterling Park worked out great for that. We spent one morning fishing, walked the trails later in the day and finished the evening around the fire. Nothing complicated, just a really enjoyable camping weekend.

      Around The Sites

We came with another family and had a blast. The kids disappeared together for half the day while the adults hung around the sites. Between fishing, the pool and the other activities, everyone found something they liked. Would definatly come back.

      Just Sat Back

Our kids are already asking when we can go back. They loved the pool, playground and all the space to run around. We mostly just sat back and enjoyed having a few days off.

Brought our camper up for a long weekend and had plenty of room to relax. The campground store was also super handy when we realized we forgot a few things.

      Just Walking Around

Nothing beats a slow morning at the campsite with a cup of coffee. We really enjoyed the trails and just walking around before everyone else was up.

      Less than stellar

When I arrived, I discovered this site they reserve for me was not level, and the picnic table was blocking access to the electric. When I asked the office for help, I was told maintenance had already left around 4 o’clock, and nobody could help me. I was offered a different side if I wanted to pay the extra price. I managed to wrestle the table out of the way and made it work. But the Wi-Fi was worthless.

RV camping near Tiverton, Rhode Island offers access to coastal attractions while providing comfortable overnight accommodations within a 30-mile radius. The region features a humid continental climate with warm summers averaging 80°F and cold winters around 35°F. Seasonal availability varies significantly between campgrounds, with most operating from April through October due to New England's weather patterns.

    What to do

Beach access: Misquamicut Beach is accessible from Ashaway RV Resort in Bradford, approximately 40 minutes from Tiverton. "It is a quick drive to the beach, we loved Westerly & Misquamicut Beaches. Lots to do in the area and stores if needed," notes a camper.

Pond fishing: Peters Pond at Peters Pond RV Resort offers freshwater fishing opportunities 45 minutes from Tiverton. "Great fishing and nice clean sites," according to one visitor, while another mentions, "We really enjoyed the beach raft, able to kayak and did some fishing."

Historic exploration: Downtown Newport is accessible from multiple campgrounds. "Melville Ponds worked out the best for us because it was adjacent to a county park with wooded hiking trails, a large pond and an off-leash dog park which were very appealing because of our dog," notes a Newport RV Park visitor.

    What campers like

Dog-friendly amenities: Newport RV Park in Portsmouth features spacious sites and pet accommodations. "We got a great pull through full hookup with a 5 minute walk to a huge dog park. There are also a bunch of beautiful trails right from the park," reports one reviewer.

Swimming options: Many campgrounds feature water recreation. "Pool was good, pond was great. It was not crowded that time of year, so it was very enjoyable. We really enjoyed the beach raft, able to kayak and did some fishing," shares a Peters Pond RV Resort guest.

Clean facilities: Campground maintenance varies across the region. "The bathrooms and shower house are located in the middle of the park and were very clean. There is a small camp store, large playground, basketball court, and open air covered pavilion with picnic tables," noted a reviewer about Newport RV Park.

    What you should know

Site conditions: Terrain varies significantly between campgrounds. At Meadowlark RV Park in Middletown, a camper observed, "This is an RV camp with mostly regulars and a couple of spots for passersby and short stay."

Off-season considerations: Several campgrounds extend operations into late fall. "Meadowlark remains open until December 1 while most others close by October 31," allowing for extended camping seasons.

Military options: Naval facilities provide additional options for eligible campers. "Only 6 sites with Electric and Water. No Dump or Shower/restrooms. 2 clean porta poddies on site," explains a reviewer about Carr Point Recreation Facility.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Thousand Trails Gateway to Cape Cod offers family-friendly amenities. "Had good kids crafts. Loved the easy access to Cape Cod, Plymouth, and Boston," mentions one visitor, while another notes it's "a huge park with mostly seasonal/annual campers."

Activity planning: Indoor and outdoor recreation varies by location. "My kids enjoyed playing tennis & swimming in the pool at the campground - there is also mini-golf, but we didn't get the chance to play," shares an Ashaway RV Resort visitor.

Travel timing: Booking early for popular destinations is essential. "School started late so we were able to book after the holiday in September. Weather was still warm. Pool was good, pond was great. It was not crowded that time of year," recommends a Peters Pond RV Resort guest.

    Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: Be prepared for uneven terrain at many sites. "Our site was at the bottom of the hill, so it was a bit mucky. This site also sloped down on both sides of the pad significantly reducing the usable footprint of the area," notes a camper about Newport RV Park.

Dump station access: Plan for waste disposal. At Carr Point Recreation Facility, "Dump station located at Newport RV Park 5 minutes up the road for $20 charge," according to a military camper.

Seasonal impacts: Tree coverage affects equipment. At Thousand Trails Gateway to Cape Cod, "Biggest negative was the trees can drop a lot of sap so be ready to wash your rig and vehicles as soon as you leave if it was a heavy sap time."
