Patapsco Valley State Park-Hilton Area and Washington DC / Capitol KOA provide cabin accommodations for visitors to the Glen Burnie region. Patapsco Valley offers mini cabins with electricity and heat, allowing for a comfortable stay even during cooler months. At Cherry Hill Park, cabins include both standard and premium options with varying levels of amenities. The mini cabins at Martinak State Park feature a full bed, two bunk beds, and air conditioning. Camp Meade RV Park also offers cabin rentals with full hookup capabilities. Elk Neck State Park provides basic cabin accommodations in a wooded setting. A visitor commented, "We had a wonderful time at Martinak State Park. We rented a mini cabin and it had a full bed, two bunk beds and AC which was such a nice amenity."

While some cabins include only basic sleeping arrangements, others provide more extensive furnishings. Rustic cabins typically feature beds, tables, and sometimes heating or air conditioning, but limited kitchen facilities. Many parks require advance reservations, especially during peak summer months when cabin availability becomes limited. Pine Tree Associates, a nudist club with cabin accommodations, has specific policies for guests. Most cabins in the region permit pets in designated units only, requiring advance notification. According to one camper, "The Hilton area campground is unique because, unlike the Hollofield area of the park, it doesn't allow RVs and its tent sites are non-electric. However, a tiny cabin experience with electricity is available."

Most cabins require guests to bring their own bedding, pillows, and towels, though mattresses are typically provided. Kitchen facilities vary significantly between locations - some offer only outdoor fire rings with cooking grates while others include microwaves and small refrigerators. The camp stores at locations like Cherry Hill Park and Washington DC Capitol KOA stock essential supplies, firewood, and basic groceries. Larger shopping options exist in nearby communities, with Wegman's and Walmart approximately five miles from Little Bennett Campground. Patapsco Valley's cabins include electricity but guests should bring cooking equipment for the outdoor fire rings. A camper noted, "Our site had a fire ring, grill and picnic table. We were right next to the bathhouse walkway."

      Codorus State Park Campground

      Hurricane camping

You just can't beat a pennsylvania park. This one is not an exception. Nice clean restroom, plenty of room. Now, what cost a star. Yes, it rained like hell. When we broke camp and go dump. The dump station was overflowing with sewer. Go to the guard shack to tell them, and find another site. None there. Can I go to an unused full hookup to dump? No! I would have to pay for the site. Two hours later, we found a place to dump for $10.

      Little Bennett Campground

      Great Potential?

We stayed at Little Bennett starting on Labor Day Monday and left before the weekend, so it is hard to say how this looks when the campground is full of life. They had quite a few activities for families and a pavilion capable of concerts and such, but there was minimal activity during our stay. My biggest complaint is that the gate code changed and we didn't get any notice--so after a long day and a dinner out near Baltimore (nearly an hour away), I had to call the police to get back to my camper. Otherwise, the campsite was relatively spacious and quiet. The bugs were a little rough. Lots of whitetail running around.

      Susquehanna State Park Campground

A little noisy - park stuff, not campers

A beautiful, well maintained park with lots to do, great bathroom facilities and extremely nice people. The electric sites aren't all together, so you don't have RV's lined up but maybe annoying for folks who are tent camping. Avoid the locations in the mid-30's by the dumpster, both staff and campers start shaking the lid around 6:30. Between 5 AM and noon staff were driving big trucks and ATV's around with loud reverse horns, and slamming the fire pit grills, which they store sideways. Overall I had a really wonderful time, but that's largely down to good sound reduction inside the van. Almost zero cell service. I was able to get a couple of text messages in and out, but seemed to be a fluke.

      Elk Neck State Park Campground

      Great for families

This campsite was amazing for our first tent camping experience. The park was a godsend for keeping our toddler occupied and we felt very safe overall. While the beach is pretty, be careful about the water condition. We were warned before entering and informed of the risks. They were very clear on the condition of the water that day which was a yellow, slight risk. But normally it should be okay. We would definitely camp here again.

      Ramblin' Pines

      Weak WiFi

For $90 per night the WiFi should work better. Didn’t connect at all. Had to use the antenna pointed East to get local Baltimore news.

      Cherry Hill Park

      My All Time Favorite…so far

This park is top notch. The grounds are immaculate. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have a lovely gift shop. We were in the 400 sites and it was nice and shady. Though you are close to highways I don’t recall hearing and noise. I love that they have shuttles to DC., walking trails and a large dog park. This is my all time favorite park so far and I need to go back.

      Bougie sites; AWFUL reservation system

      BASE ACCESS REQUIRED!

Electric/Water/Sewer hookup sites for $56 a night! (2 night minimum) Which is a great full hookup price, even though it's gone up $6 since last year. Weekly and monthly pricing available as well.

The sites are neat, well maintained, level, and sunny with concrete pads and paved campground roads. Centrally located laundry facilities and airconditioned bath house. Playground, boat launch, beach volleyball court, disk golf, basketball court, and outdoor pool all within walking distance. Other base amenities include: commissary, gas station, bowling, BBQ, Dunkin', and Greek restaurants, and golf. (I'm sure I'm forgetting something.)

Note: in July it is very buggy - the biting flies are the worst. So bring bug spray or a screened in tent to eat in.

The downside: the reservation system is a major PITA. You have to download a PDF packet, fill it out, and EMAIL it in. When you get your confirmation, it doesn't include a specific site number. You get assigned one when they call you the week of your scheduled check-in for payment completion.

Don't miss out on: the water! My advice would be to reserve one of their boats at the same time you reserve your campsite. The water in this area is great - no jellyfish, low waves. You can SUP, kayak, pontoon boat. Whatever your preference. There are large flats of grasses - which you'd want to avoid with a motor but are so much fun to paddle over. Also check out the Susquehanna National Wildlife Refuge island. You can't go inland, but you can anchor off shore, jump in and wade around the shallows.

Also very driveable to an off-base movie theater, Baltimore, and Havre de Grace.

    Guide to Glen Burnie

Cabin accommodations near Glen Burnie, Maryland range from basic one-room structures to premium options with expanded amenities. The region experiences hot, humid summers with temperatures often exceeding 85°F and mild winters where temperatures typically stay above freezing. Many cabin rentals require 2-night minimum stays during peak season from May through September.

    What to do

Explore Turkey Point Lighthouse: A short drive from Elk Neck State Park Campground, this historic site offers panoramic bay views. "There's a camp store, boat ramp, swimming, fishing and lots of great hiking. Definitely drive to, and then hike to the lighthouse (open most weekends) the lighthouse and the view are definitely worth it," explains David G.

Visit the sensory trail: Located at Patapsco Valley State Park's Hilton area, this trail provides a unique nature experience designed for children. One visitor shared, "It seem like this area is, possibly unintentionally, geared toward children. There is a massive playground, nature play space, sensory trail, and a small nature center. There are a lot of easy, but beautiful hikes."

Fish in local waters: Multiple fishing opportunities exist at different cabin locations. Near Ramblin' Pines, visitors mention "a pond for fishing" while others highlight the water access available across the region for anglers of all skill levels.

    What campers like

Convenient location for DC visits: Cherry Hill Park offers easy access to Washington DC attractions. "Proximity to DC and surrounding areas can't be beat. Uber, Lyft, bus, shuttle. It takes about a half hour to get downtown to the monuments. Our uber rides ranged from 20-45$ for a family of 5," writes Jennifer H.

Clean, well-maintained facilities: Many cabins across the region receive praise for cleanliness. At Susquehanna State Park, visitors noted, "Bath house was immaculate; by far the cleanest I have ever seen in a campground. Must have been recently renovated."

Privacy options: Some camping cabins near Glen Burnie provide secluded settings. "We camped here twice now. Nice playground for the kids and plenty of park events to keep you busy. Took a nice hike out to the Susquehanna and spent a few hours fishing in the pond," reports one visitor to Susquehanna State Park.

    What you should know

Reservation requirements: Most cabin sites require advance booking, especially during summer months. At Washington DC / Capitol KOA, one visitor shared: "We stopped at the DC KOA as a base to visit the Capitol. This is not a site for nature lovers but is perfect for kids. We had a site near the pool, outdoor chess set, jumping pillow and gaga ball pit."

Cabin amenities vary significantly: From bare-bones structures to fully equipped units. "After a peaceful protest, my sister, nephew and I stayed in a cabin for 1 night. We all slept well in the clean and comfortable cabin. The campground is a safe place for families," reported Lydia R. about Capitol KOA.

Weather considerations: Summer humidity can be intense while spring often brings rain. One camper at Adventure Bound Washington DC described a challenging departure: "It rained and rained and rained and rained and rained! Not only did it wake us, it started us thinking what we'd do with a WET TENT!"

    Tips for camping with families

Choose kid-focused campgrounds: Several cabin locations feature special family amenities. "They have a nice area for kids (pool, playground, jumping pillow, basketball courts, giant chess, etc). If you get an area to back into it'll be more secluded, but the pull through spots offer no privacy," explains Elise M. about Adventure Bound Washington DC.

Look for trails with children in mind: Family-friendly hiking options exist throughout the region. "The Hilton entrance of Patapsco Valley Park is perfect for keeping the kids entertained. There is a huge playground, sensory trail and nature discovery center at the entrance to the park. The nature center was closed when we visited, but the kids still enjoyed the sensory trail and playground."

Consider cabin size requirements: Family cabins have varying sleeping capacities. When selecting a camping cabin near Glen Burnie, confirm the number and size of beds. One visitor to Pine Tree Associates noted the facilities include "a large outdoor pool, an indoor pool and a hot tub" which can keep children entertained.

    Tips from RVers

Site selection matters: Choose cabin locations strategically for best experience. "We had a level full hook up. The road on the FHU loop is narrow and hilly. Our site was uphill and at a difficult angle. Plenty of bigger TTs and 5th wheels were camping," reports one Elk Neck State Park visitor.

Verify hook-up capabilities: If bringing an RV to a cabin area, confirm utility availability. "In the full hook up loop pay close attention to the lengths specified. The actual pads are fairly level but some of the driveways to them are very sloped. Long rigs will have issues in a few of the sites," advises David G.

Consider proximity to bathhouses: Location within the campground affects convenience. At Susquehanna State Park Campground, "We loved that our site had a path directly to the bathhouse. This meant there wasn't any foot traffic from people wanting to shower or use the restrooms. Easy access to the utility sink for dishes, too!"
