Several campgrounds in the vicinity of Fulton, Maryland offer cabin accommodations for visitors seeking shelter beyond traditional tent camping. Cherry Hill Park provides cabins with electricity, beds, and in some cases private bathrooms. Washington DC Capitol KOA offers cabin rentals with various amenities including electricity and basic furnishings. "The cabin was TINY. Essentially four beds (two bunks) and some space between them to move around. Essentially a shed with bunkbeds in it," notes one visitor describing their experience at Brunswick Family Campground.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Patapsco Valley State Park-Hilton Area features small cabins with electricity and heat, which one reviewer described as "neat mini cabins...that have electricity and heat. They are a nice touch for those that want to camp, but not completely 'rough it.'" Most parks require advance reservations, particularly during summer months when cabins book quickly. Pet policies vary by location, with some parks allowing pets in designated cabins only. Sites like Little Bennett Campground operate seasonally from April through October.

Most cabins include beds with waterproof mattresses but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Kitchen facilities vary widely—some cabins offer refrigerators and microwaves while others provide only outdoor fire rings with cooking grates. Ramblin' Pines and Camp Meade RV Park maintain on-site stores with basic provisions, though prices typically exceed those at grocery stores in nearby communities. Campers planning extended stays should consider bringing essential supplies, as amenities can be limited in more rustic cabins.

      Artillery Ridge Campground

Great campsite. Fire pit, picnic table, swimming pool ( not open), miniature golf course, laundromat, bathrooms, showers, dump station, gathering areas for groups, playground, and even a horse area and stalls for horses. Dog friendly. Staff was very helpful and curious.

      Codorus State Park Campground

      Hurricane camping

You just can't beat a pennsylvania park. This one is not an exception. Nice clean restroom, plenty of room. Now, what cost a star. Yes, it rained like hell. When we broke camp and go dump. The dump station was overflowing with sewer. Go to the guard shack to tell them, and find another site. None there. Can I go to an unused full hookup to dump? No! I would have to pay for the site. Two hours later, we found a place to dump for $10.

Site #133 — Great site once you figure out the best way to get into it

We stayed in site #133 with our 34'10" travel trailer/toy hauler. Overall, we really like the site. It's spacious, fairly level, heavily wooded, and feels surprisingly private. There's plenty of room around the camper, and although there are other campsites and cabins nearby, the trees provide a lot of separation. We had a nice large area for our chairs, fire pit, picnic table, and dogs. The biggest thing to know about #133 is the approach. We were instructed to pass the site, go around the loop, and then make a left turn into it. With our nearly 35' trailer, that would have required an extremely tight, almost 90-degree turn between the trees, and we did not feel we could safely make it. There is actually visible damage on one of the trees at the entrance, so it appears others may have had difficulty with the turn as well. Instead, we approached from the opposite direction and positioned the camper with our doors facing the main campsite area. That put the water and electric hookups on the opposite side, but our hoses and cord were long enough to run underneath the camper and reach without a problem. Once we figured that out, the site worked very well for us. I initially thought we probably wouldn't choose #133 again because of the awkward setup, but after spending the weekend here, I would. Now that we know how to approach and position our trailer, it really is a nice site. If you're bringing a longer travel trailer, just be prepared to do a little maneuvering and make sure your water hose and electrical cord have enough length if you decide to orient your camper the way we did.

      Gambrill State Park Campground

      Great Camp Spot

This is a great camping spot. The sites aren’t too close together and the hosts are very friendly. The only reason I gave it four stars is because we are near a highway so you can hear cars throughout the night. But the crickets make up for it by being as loud as possible. With the fees, it cost $25 for a non-electric site and with access to showers after a long trek I was happy to pay.

      Little Bennett Campground

      Great Potential?

We stayed at Little Bennett starting on Labor Day Monday and left before the weekend, so it is hard to say how this looks when the campground is full of life. They had quite a few activities for families and a pavilion capable of concerts and such, but there was minimal activity during our stay. My biggest complaint is that the gate code changed and we didn't get any notice--so after a long day and a dinner out near Baltimore (nearly an hour away), I had to call the police to get back to my camper. Otherwise, the campsite was relatively spacious and quiet. The bugs were a little rough. Lots of whitetail running around.

    Guide to Fulton

Cabin camping accommodations near Fulton, Maryland offer diverse experiences ranging from rustic shelters to fully-equipped units with heating and electricity. Most cabins are available seasonally from April through October, though some locations operate year-round. Winter cabin reservations typically require booking several months in advance due to limited availability during off-season periods.

    What to do

Explore historic trails: At Patapsco Valley State Park, cabin guests have access to numerous hiking paths with river views. "There are a lot of easy, but beautiful hikes. The campground is on the smaller side. You get a fire pit and cooking crate, and a picnic table," notes one visitor at Patapsco Valley State Park-Hilton Area.

Try disc golf courses: Bull Run Regional Park offers a complete disc golf course within walking distance of cabin accommodations. "The park has golf frisbe course, decent water park for kids, hiking trails, small creek/river you can explore, playgrounds," explains a camper who appreciates the variety of activities available.

Visit nearby cities: Many cabin locations serve as convenient bases for exploring the region. A visitor at Washington DC Capitol KOA reports, "This is a good site for nature lovers but is perfect for kids. We had a site near the pool, outdoor chess set, jumping pillow and gaga ball pit. Our kids (9, 10 and 14) all had fun and made friends."

    What campers like

Family-friendly amenities: Cabins at Ramblin' Pines provide access to recreational facilities that appeal to all ages. According to one guest, "The spot he chose was big enough for two tents. The site itself offered the usual fires grill and another cooking grate to cook on which for us came in handy." Another mentions, "The camground offers a lot for the money. There's a pond for fishing, a pool for swimming and a little general store for all your needs."

Winter cabin availability: Unlike many seasonal facilities, some locations remain open year-round. At Ramblin' Pines, a visitor simply notes that it stays "clean" and is "open all year," making it one of the few options for winter cabin camping in the region.

Accessibility to urban areas: Cabin camping options around Fulton provide nature experiences while maintaining proximity to metropolitan areas. A reviewer at Little Bennett Campground shares, "Great campground. A bit pricey, but has a full hookup loop. Other loops are tent only. Wonderful bath house. Lots of stuff to do."

    What you should know

Advance planning required: Many cabin facilities book months ahead, particularly during peak season. As one camper at Cherry Hill Park advises, "You get what you pay for. This campground has so much to offer. We loved it." However, they also note among the cons: "Gravel pad, Expensive, Spotty Wi-Fi."

Varied sleeping arrangements: Cabin configurations differ significantly between locations. At Little Bennett Campground, "The sites are quiet, very spacious, level, and heavily wooded with 50A service, water and sewer hookup."

Seasonal operational hours: Operating seasons affect facility availability. According to information from Patapsco Valley, their season runs "April 1 to October 30," with limited services outside these dates.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Select cabin sites near play areas for convenience with children. A camper at Bull Run Regional Park recommends, "Our family stayed here in a cabin on a long weekend trip to DC. This campground was full of stuff to do and we didn't even get to do a lot of it. They had a campfire complete with s'mores followed by hayrides."

Educational opportunities: Many parks offer ranger programs and nature activities. At Pohick Bay Campground, "This is definitely a family campground. So my activities for kids and places to run around. Pirate's Cove waterpark is definitely a highlight in summer."

Space considerations: Families should carefully research cabin dimensions before booking. One visitor notes, "We tent camped there with 2 other families memorial day weekend. It rained the entire time but we still had a blast. The best review I can give us of the bathrooms. They're with staying again alone. Locking doors, individual stalls."

    Tips from RVers

Site selection strategies: When booking cabin accommodations as an RV alternative, consider location within the campground. At Pohick Bay Campground, a camper advises, "We stay here at least 6 trips a year. Nice layout, not all sites are level (half). Staff are always nice and go out of their way to help."

Utility availability: Check which utilities are included with cabin rentals. A visitor at Cherry Hill Park lists the available amenities: "50 amp hook-up, Water, Sewer, Playground, Mini Golf, Swimming Pool, Hot tub, Basketball court, Snack bar on site, Nightly hayride, Gated, On-site camp store, On-site bus shuttle."

Seasonal price variations: Rates fluctuate throughout the year, with premium pricing during summer months. One camper notes, "Municipal campgrounds in Northern Virginia are a bit spendy for being government sponsored. But Bull Run manages to goose you even more. There are occupancy AND transaction fees that really add up if you're only there a few nights."
