Several RV parks near Riverdale provide full hookup options for motorhome travelers. Cherry Hill Park in College Park features level pull-through RV sites with 50-amp service, water, and sewer connections on gravel pads with paver patios. "The site was just big enough for our motor home and Jeep. Full hook-ups with 50-amp service all worked fine," noted one camper. Camp Meade RV Park in Laurel accommodates big rigs with 50-amp electric hookups, water, and sewer connections year-round. Bar Harbor RV Park & Marina in Abingdon offers 91 RV sites with full hookups, including both 30-amp and 50-amp service options, though some waterfront sites require careful backing in through narrow roads.
Advance reservations are essential during peak seasons, particularly for premium sites with full hookups. Most RV parks in the region maintain clean bathhouses with hot showers and laundry facilities, though quality varies between locations. Cell service is generally strong throughout the area, with Cherry Hill Park offering WiFi that works best near the office. Dump stations are available at all major RV parks, with some offering on-site propane filling services. Pet policies differ between parks—Camp Meade and Cherry Hill welcome pets, while some waterfront sites at Bar Harbor have specific pet restrictions. Many parks provide convenient access to Washington DC attractions, with Cherry Hill offering a daily charter bus and Metro bus connections for RV travelers wanting to explore the capital.

Clean bathrooms and hot showers, great hiking and beautiful sites.
Close to washington as we could get. Could also park our skoolie bus which was nice and had plenty of close by shower with bathrooms. Keep in mind only one shower per restroom house. We stayed at a pretty slow season so it wasn’t bad. Would recommend if visiting DC! They also have a dump station and water fill up.
Simple and friendly check in process. Clean and well-maintained site.
Spent two nights while we saw the Avett Brothers play at Wolf Trap. Nice flat site with power. Campground was quiet and clean. The only negative is communication and signage. It took us a couple wrong turns to find our site and when we came back, after the concert around 11, the entrance gate was closed and we had to sneak in through the exit gate. Asked the next day and they said that is what campers do to access the park after 11pm.
We stayed at Redemption Springs to get relatively close to Baltimore without bringing our 30ft travel trailer into the city. Seth and the other gentlemen I spoke with were all extremely accommodating. Enjoyed learning about their approach to restorative farming and purchasing a variety of treats at the farm store. Beef, pork, chicken, seasonings, baked goods, and more. We booked on Hipcamp and recommend following his driving instructions. Our rig fit fine by tuhe main barn and they kept an eye on us going in and out to make sure we didn't have issues making any of the turns. Lots of farm life!
We stayed at Little Bennett starting on Labor Day Monday and left before the weekend, so it is hard to say how this looks when the campground is full of life. They had quite a few activities for families and a pavilion capable of concerts and such, but there was minimal activity during our stay. My biggest complaint is that the gate code changed and we didn't get any notice--so after a long day and a dinner out near Baltimore (nearly an hour away), I had to call the police to get back to my camper. Otherwise, the campsite was relatively spacious and quiet. The bugs were a little rough. Lots of whitetail running around.
If you want to be near Annapolis, right on the Severn River...this is it. About 15 RV spots nestled in the woods...with full hook ups. A couple of primitive spots as well. Just a quick 5 min walk to the river...right across from the Academy. NEX, gas within 10 min walk, and 15 min drive to downtown Annapolis. Staff is always great here, and the park is clean....for a park on the woods.
The park is very well maintained, and the campsites have clean fire pits and cooking grills. The restrooms are clean, spacious, and well maintained, and my campsite was large enough to comfortably fit a 6-person tent and a canopy.
However, there were a few concerns during our stay. Despite the campground’s quiet hours policy starting at 10:00 PM, many campers continued to make noise well past that time. I did not notice any campground staff or maintenance personnel making rounds to enforce the quiet hours.
I also felt concerned about security. One of my neighboring campers, who was visiting from South Carolina, told me that his generator had been stolen during the night. He reported the theft to the police, and an official report was filed. Incidents like this made me feel unsafe while camping.
I recommend increasing staff or security patrols, especially during the evening and overnight hours, to enforce quiet hours and improve the safety and security of campers and their belongings. With better enforcement and security, Burke Lake Campground would provide an even better camping experience.
One of our favorite places. Very well kept. No bathhouse so bring your own. A lot of shady sites. Great views of Chesapeake bay. Flat roads in the area for cycling.
Riverdale, Maryland camping options extend beyond full-hookup RV parks to include forested state parks, waterfront sites, and military facilities. The area sits at an elevation of around 50 feet above sea level with moderate summers reaching the mid-80s and mild winters in the 30s. Campgrounds range from basic tent-only sites to premium waterfront spots with views of the Chesapeake Bay and Potomac River.
Fishing access: At Bar Harbor RV Park & Marina, campers can fish directly from waterfront sites. "You can fish from the pier or right from your site. There appeared to be a boat dock as well," notes one visitor. The campground offers access to the Bush River with designated areas for putting in small boats or kayaks.
Water recreation: Campers at Ellendale Campground enjoy views of the Chesapeake Bay from sites on a bluff. "If you enjoy beautiful sunsets, seeing bald eagles every day, having a nice breeze, not too buggy, well kept campground this is the place to go," reports one camper. The site is just 7 minutes from Eastern Neck Wildlife Sanctuary with hiking trails.
Transportation to DC: Several campgrounds offer convenient transportation options to Washington DC. At Greenbelt Park Campground, campers can access the Metro. "What we did, since we don't have a tow car, and just have our 26ft motorhome, is we packed up and drove to the Greenbelt station about 5 miles away, parked there for the day, and took the green line into town." The ride from Greenbelt station to the National Mall takes approximately 30 minutes.
Wooded settings: Many campgrounds near Riverdale offer shaded sites despite their proximity to urban areas. At Hollofield Area Campground, campers appreciate the balance of accessibility and natural surroundings. "This campground is very close to the Baltimore beltway and basically in a neighborhood but you feel like you are farther from things," writes one reviewer. The park features hiking trails accessible directly from campsites.
Military facilities: Active and retired military personnel have specialized camping options near Riverdale. "Military campground. Very spartan but great location. Not much to do in the campground and some long timers there. Dirt cheap," notes a visitor to the Annapolis FamCamp. Similarly, at Fort Belvoir Travel and RV Camp, campers value the secure environment and riverside setting. "This campground is aboard Fort Belvoir, an US Army base in Northern, VA. It is very clean and there are many amenities close by."
Waterfront views: Multiple campgrounds offer premium waterfront sites. "Beautiful water front sites and good location right off 95," reports a camper at Bar Harbor RV Park. Another notes, "The daily waterfront sites are pricy but right on the water with great views. Some of the trailer sites are a tough back in but worth the trouble."
Reservation requirements: Many campgrounds require online booking with no option for cash payment on arrival. At Greenbelt Park, "This is a NO CASH facility which means you CANNOT pay upon arrival so you will have to do so online." During peak season, especially weekends, campgrounds fill quickly.
Hookup limitations: Water and electric services vary significantly between campgrounds. At Ellendale Campground, "Sewer is not there yet, but they have portables just in case you need to remove some instead of moving the entire camper." Most state parks like Hollofield offer electric-only sites with water available at central locations.
Seasonal considerations: Waterfront sites can be windy in spring and fall. At Ramblin' Pines, seasonal challenges include "water bugs are bad in the spring, no mosquitoes, acorns falling from the trees on your camper in the fall." Campgrounds with pools typically close these facilities outside summer months.
Activity options: Several campgrounds offer extensive recreation facilities. "This campground has so much to offer. We loved it. Playground, Mini Golf, Swimming Pool, Hot tub, Basketball court, Snack bar on site, Nightly hayride," reports a camper at Cherry Hill Park. Ramblin' Pines provides similar amenities with "a pool, jump pillow, mini golf, fishing pond, barnyard with goats, and multiple playgrounds."
Natural playgrounds: State parks sometimes feature unique play areas. "There is a 'natural' playground in the loop, and then if you drive down further to the park entrance, there is a large playground for the kids. I've attached photos from the 'natural playground' aka, large rocks and overturned trees. The kids loved it," notes a visitor to Hollofield Area Campground.
Site selection: When camping with children, site location matters. "If you're a tent camper and don't need electric, the sites on the outer loop were quite nice and private," advises a Hollofield visitor. At Cherry Hill Park, another camper suggests to "Look at the park map and try to get a site at the end of a row. The sites are pretty close together but on the ends at least you only have a neighbor on one side."
RV size considerations: Several rv sites near Riverdale, Maryland accommodate larger rigs but require careful navigation. "Sites vary in levelness, some are fairly level and some are on a mini hill. Driveways are all very narrow," notes a camper at Greenbelt Park. At Bar Harbor, "Some sites you are right on the waters edge. Some of the trailer sites are a tough back in but worth the trouble."
Leveling requirements: Many campgrounds have uneven sites requiring preparation. "The site was nice and level, but a bit small, with a short driveway," reports a Hollofield visitor. Another camper at Fort Belvoir advises, "Good site, secure location, decent facilities with solid WiFi. Pier within walking distance. Good location, tho our site wasn't fully level, so bring plenty of leveling blocks."
Seasonal storage: Some rv parks near Riverdale offer extended services. "They even allowed us to store the camper while we took a cruise out of Baltimore!" notes a Ramblin' Pines guest. Before planning extended stays, check with campground offices as policies vary between locations.
