    Ouachita RV Park

Beautiful location and high quality park

Right off of I-20 and on a scenic lake that the sun sets over. The mall is right across the interstate with many good restaurants. There are bathrooms and showers, a nice playground, basic RV supplies for purchase, pull through sites, full hookups, the office has a full kitchen, pool table, piano, and event room. I stayed long term and there were several other college girls staying there for school (like I was). The staff took good care of us and made a priority out of putting us all near each other. There is a full time maintenance staff, dumpster and dump station. It is a KOA park.

    Clear Springs Recreation Area

    Nice family campground

$20, $13 with fed pass. 22 sites. Electric & water hookups. Dump station. Two campground loops - B: Sites 1-12, & A: Sites 13-22. Loop A is prettier that Loop B, but Loop B has more level sites which may be more suitable for larger campers. Camped at site 7 in a camper van. Large site backed against the woods with access to a hiking trail. Not much privacy between sites. Nice family campground. Sites have table, lantern post & fire ring. Picnic Area also in this rec area. Beautiful setting by the lake. Restroom/shower house needs some work. Mens shower stalls have standing water in them - possible drainage issue. Women's toilet stalls also have a similar issue due to a leaky toilet. Bugs were not too bad here in April. No AT&T & T-Mobile service at our campsite, but picked up a weak signal by the lake.

River View RV Park & Resort

    Very nice RV park

This is a very nice RV Park. It’s big. Almost 150 sites, with water, sewer and 30/50 amp electric. There are also a few tent sites with electricity. It’s well kept-grass is mowed, grounds and facilities are clean. There is a playground, a dog park, pool and hot tub. Showers and bathrooms are nice. Laundry room, small grocery/gift shop. And a guest lounge. There is a paved walking trail along the river. There is also a public boat ramp about 1/4 mile away for access to the Mississippi. Internet was sport. With this many Class A motorhomes and people streaming media the server can’t keep up.

River View RV Park & Resort

    Spacious Campground

Mostly pull through full hookup sites. Nice grass inbetween sites, lots of shade trees, but not all spots shady, concrete pads (not sure if all are but most), gravel on roads, trash pickup at site, lots of grassy areas for walking dogs, some tent sites. Very attentive and friendly staff. We would definitely stay here again, had spot 111 at the end with a great view of the mighty Mississippi River. Accepts Good Sam discount.

    Riverton Lake Campground

No amenities, a little shabby, very quiet.

This CG was along my route, and didn't have any reviews (a shot in the dark). Riverside is both a RV and mobile home park. The year round folks are situated around the parameter with pull-through RV sites in the middle. The CG is at the end of the road and lays along the Ouachita River. Before driving into the CG there's a recreational area with playground equipment, a swimming area along the river, and a boat ramp. Although there are no amenities, ie., showers, toilets, laundry, each site does have FH (water, 120, 30amp, 50amp power, sewer).

    Clear Springs Recreation Area

    Beautiful remote location

Located close to Vicksburg, Ms. and on a small man made lake. The area is hilly and has some great hiking trails. The bathrooms are small but do have a shower. Not a lot of room for large RV's so check with them. Water and electric available as well as a dump station.

Clear Springs Lake Rec Area NF Campground

    Well kept secret

This is a US Forest Service campground in the Homochitto Forest. The campground host doesn’t want the secret getting out. S/he jokingly told me “now don’t you go posting on social media” how much you love this place. But I do love this place. It’s definitely off the beaten track but worth the drive. It’s a great campground nestled in the woods. Some of the campsites border part of the lake and more are wooded. We stayed in the wooded area. Our campsite had a pretty picnic area with a wooden rail all around it and wooden steps down from the campsite to the picnic/grill area. There is a loop hiking trail around the lake and a longer mountain bike/hiking trail. The nearest town is Natchez, Mississippi so make sure stock up before you go to the campground. The campsites are mixed use RV/tent sites with water and electricity. They also have a dump station for RVs. There are two bathhouses with hot showers and flush toilets. I have AT&T and had trouble getting a cell signal to make phone calls except when I was up by the bathhouse. They accept the America the Beautiful pass discounts.

    Ouachita RV Park

    Ok for overnight

Nothing fancy, but good for an overnight. Clean and seems safe. Right on I20, so expectable highway noise. Looks to be quite a few long term folks here but RVs are nice. Grassy spots. No tables, just hook ups. Cute playground. While there is a shower chair in the bath house, facilities are not wheelchair/ADA accessible as there is a 4” concrete step to access bathroom. Lots of bugs (gnats and mosquitos) but this IS Louisiana, so that is to be expected. Nice lake next door, looks good for fishing and probably where the biting bugs are coming from, lol. Would stay here again for just one night of passing thru.

Guide to Sicily Island

Dispersed camping options near Sicily Island, Louisiana are limited within the immediate area, with most campers selecting established campgrounds in neighboring communities. This rural region lies at elevations under 100 feet in the Mississippi River valley, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Fall and spring offer the most comfortable camping conditions with temperatures typically ranging between 60-85°F.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Lake Bruin State Park Campground offers excellent fishing access with boat launches and waterfront campsites. "The sites by the water have excellent places to dock your boat by your camper," notes one camper at Lake Bruin State Park Campground.

Water recreation: Swimming and kayaking are popular activities at several area campgrounds. "If you want to swim and you love cypress trees, this is your spot. It's a small park with very clean bath houses. There is a beach/swimming hole but we also swam from our site #5," reports a visitor to Lake Bruin State Park Campground.

Historical exploration: Campgrounds near Natchez provide access to historical sites. A camper at River View RV Park & Resort shared: "We spent a few days at River View RV Park in January, visiting Natchez and enjoying the view of the Mississippi River. The staff was super helpful with advice for what to see and where to eat."

Nature trails: Several parks offer walking paths for nature observation. "There is a paved walking trail along the river," notes a River View visitor, while another mentions the "great concrete riverfront walkway" as a highlight of their stay.

What campers like

River views: Many campers appreciate the Mississippi River scenery available at campgrounds near Sicily Island. At River View RV Park & Resort, a guest observed: "The sites were pretty spacious and many have an unobstructed view of the river. There is even a nice paved trail on top of the levee."

Clean facilities: Consistently mentioned in reviews is the cleanliness of bathhouses. A visitor to Poverty Point Reservoir State Park Campground stated: "Bathroom: Very clean and updated w flush toilets. Showers: Clean and nice."

Waterfront access: Direct lake access is highly rated at certain campgrounds. "Sites 3,4,5 are oriented where you see the water when you open your door. We were in site 4. Sites 4 and 5 have a 25x10 foot deck extending from rv site-very nice," explains a reviewer at Lake Bruin State Park.

What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Summer months bring heat and insects to the Sicily Island region. A camper at Ouachita RV Park noted: "Lots of bugs (gnats and mosquitos) but this IS Louisiana, so that is to be expected."

Site variations: Not all sites offer the same amenities or level of privacy. "Be careful selecting your site, some are uneven and the pad sets above ground level," warns a visitor to Natchez State Park Campground about their campground layout.

Reservation recommendations: Some parks have limited sites with specific features. A Lake Bruin State Park camper advised: "Be aware water will be hard to come by in peak season."

Storm preparations: The area occasionally experiences severe weather. One camper at River View RV Park reported: "Friendly & helpful staff & campers, clean restrooms & showers. There are some nice, private spaces, but staff weren't placing anyone in them due to storm & tornado warnings! Kept everyone close to the office & restrooms (aka storm shelter)."
