Okay ONLY if it’s not busy!!

We’ve gone when there was nobody (it was fall and pretty cold) and got to tent camp by the water and LOVED it. We went back on a weekend in June and it was awful. Packed, and RVs were loud and honestly rude. No tent only sites and RVs won’t hesitate to park next to a tent rather than by an RV.…

Sweet little campground

Just 4 miles from highway 62 in Kuttawa, KY and it feels like another place in time. You can fish Lake Barkley from your campsite or just enjoy the waves washing up. Level gravel sites with tables and a big fire pit with a cooking grate. Nice shade trees and some nature trails. There is a very…

Bring your own TP

We stopped in for one night and stayed at a “primitive site” who needs power hookups. The losers bathroom is .6 miles at the peer store which closes at 7 PM. The next closest is 1 mile away in biker country if you so choose to go there. MY wife and I have no issue going in the woods but there are…

Beautiful town

Live quietly! This peaceful little town has a wonderfully cared for rv park right on the boat ramp to the green river. There’s a shower house and a nice pavilion for use. Affordable!!!

Wonderful location

Tucked in and away a beautiful holler, this is what modern day camping is at its finest. The staff are amazing, and friendly. When you walk into the main office you’re greeted by items of nostalgia and a past long gone, from a Boy Scouts weblo book to lps and this place is amazing. Be sure to grab…

Nice place

On your honor payment $10 per night for up to 8 people per campsite. Site number 1 had lots of trees right at the site perfect for hammocks. There were lots of sites with trees for hammocks but we had 7 people and that one was perfect. A little close to the gravel road had a couple of cars drive by…

Not good

The park is small and cramped. Sites are very close together. The rates are extreme for this area.

Dusty, rustic camping at the edge of Shawnee

This small, rustic camp is at the edge of Shawnee and only had a few campers staying multiple nights with us. Then the turkey hunting season came upon us and the sites filled.

We had site choices that ended up being along the gravel forest road that goes by camp. This put us away from other…

  • The gravel road is just beyond the back of our teardrop. We had shade for a portion of mid day. Maybe more shade would be here after the leaves grow out.
  • Head down the forest road and you will find this small cemetery. The family lost a few children within a few years - life must have been tough in the 1800s.

Nice and quiet

Nice place. Not 5 star but ok. Pads are on steep slopes.

KOA campground

Very good for pull behinds or semi-permanent but less than desirable for tent campers. Tents were relegated to a narrow strip in the campground really too small for campers. Water and electric are available but restrooms/showers are about 1/4 mile away. Not what would be considered tent friendly.…

If you like a quiet place, this is for you

We camped in off-season and the place was quite empty. Camp host told us it was always pretty quiet. Sites are close together, most with a pitch. We had a water view- a finger of Barkley Lake. The park has a restaurant, stables & marina (unsure if both were closed due to covid, or off-season).…

Good offseason stay but a little pricey for being the offseason

We came to do a quick weekend with our new camper (we are experienced campers but with a new rig) and we wanted somewhere quiet, with full hookups and with a great view so we could run the rig through the paces and relax.  We did get all of that.  It's the offseason and almost all of the amenities…
